I have a 1978 Guild acoustic my dad gave me. He got it new. He calls it a “jumbo” but I think that’s actually a Gibson term and it’s a dreadnaught. He got it for I think he said $800 which was a lot in 1978. Not too long after he got it it was left too close to a campfire and although it was in the case it had finish damage. He shipped it to the factory and they refinished it but it no longer has the paper on the inside. I only know what year it is because he bought it new. It is one of those guitars that anyone sounds good playing. About ten years ago I bought a newer Guild and although it sounds good it just doesn’t ring as pretty as the old man’s.
Gibson introduced the CF100 cutaway slope shoulder dreadnought in 1950. Guild introduced a cutaway dreadnought in 1972. Guilds may have kickstarted the dreadnought cutaway trend but they were not the first.
My father is still an incredible acoustic player and singer at 71 years old. And he has ONLY played Guilds since the mid 60s. He has an incredible ear and always told me no other acoustic has perfect tone like a Guild.
I've owned two Guild acoustics and both have been great. I currently have a Guild Jumbo that is an absolute banger of a guitar. I love it. Even against some of the more expensive guitars I own it stands out. They are very well designed and well crafted.
Thank you for some extended playing and some different styles. Trying to learn why some people connect to certain guitars over the other??!! Seem each one connects differently in our expression?! Far beyond any price, availability. To get connected and string notes and sounds together is my goal. Thank you.
Thank you for some extended playing, the different styles to get used to the build and playability quantity. Way more important to me than marketing, price, and availability. The only perfect guitar is the one you keep playing!!
I can't remember if I ever encountered one of these at a low price and passed it up because I never heard of it before or if that is my imagination due to FOMO (feeling of missing out) but....I first heard about this recently in an interview- I think it was the guitarist of Soundgarden that had this brand a long time ago
I just picked up the 12 string today. That thing is pretty amazing and it was 700, which is perfect baecause I would not pay more than that for an acoustic.
The Asian made Guilds are generally solid guitars for the price. The upper end models might fool you into thinking they’re US made models if you don’t know better.
Usually the action on new acoustics is always a bit high. If you buy a good acoustic you might bring it to a luthier, to adjust the action to your desired action height. If the neck is correctly adjusted, the luthier will take out the bone saddle on the bridge and sand down the bottom of the bone saddle. That‘s why the action from factory tends to be a bit high, because it‘s always possible to sand down, but if the action is too low you have to replace the bone saddle and adjust again.
All I hear is the awful quacking USTs… I’m lucky enough to own a Guild dreadnought and it sounds awesome, but you’d never know how these guitars really sound from this video.
This review is accurate…BUT…you haven’t really heard or felt the power of a Guild till you’ve played the older F50rnt or the newer version F55 made with same woods. Play it. Push it. Feel it. If you do then I apologize cause you guitar ain’t gonna sound so good anymore. Happens every time. I’ve owned my 1977, f50rnt since new.
Yeah, well this guitars he's playing are around $400-$600 brand new and your F55 is $4,000 or more! If we are talking about bang for buck, the guitars in this demo are a much better value than yours!
i smashed one of those to pieces when i was 12.. i could play just fine.. i just didnt understand what i was holding because i had played it since i was 3
Loving all the John Mayer that was slipped into the video 👏🏻
Think I need to grab me a Guild Dreadnought
Guild are fantastic! Amazing sound and aesthetics.

I LOVE my guild guitar. Mines an old ish m120 Chinese version(2011 or 12) of the all solid mahogany m20. Nick Drake’s apparent guitar.
Waiting on the arrival of the 260ce, I’m stoked. Great chops you got there bro!

I’m going to say it. The Guild D50 is the greatest acoustic guitar of all time.
My father is still an incredible acoustic player and singer at 71 years old. And he has ONLY played Guilds since the mid 60s. He has an incredible ear and always told me no other acoustic has perfect tone like a Guild.
I beg to differ, the Guild F-50 maple is the greatest :)

Nick I m gonna order the d260ce.
Am I doing the right choice? I don't know if dAngelico guitars are also good
Guild all day baby

Kim thayil is my favourite guild player
A Jumbo with cutaway is unforgivable
It's made for people that can play guitar.
@@andhewonders this
I believe the cut away mutes the trebles slightly acoustically, BUT plugged in you can adjust the perception as you like.
what do think of guild OM150ce which is all solid wood?
Westerly RI........My dads home town.
Richie Havens not Haves

Wow what a amazing guitar and well done to the brilliant guitarist🍻

Richie Havens. I think the cutaway adds treble.

They are still made in America too if its an acoustic. Hollowbodies are made in china.

Good morning. Can anyone tell me if that is an inlay on the head stock? I’m talking about the word “guild.? “
Many thanks in advance to whomever.
One guitar to rule them all.

Yeah, that awful piezo sound.
Agreed. That piezo quack is not best way to demo these
Anthony ,what is the best choice!? guild d260ce or dAngelico?
I still don't understand how people can like this sound, you don't get the real sound of the guitar from this as you say. It's awful.
Do guild still build guitars , I’ve just bought a strat by guild but can’t find any information about them or how to date it
They indeed do still make them in the USA! Oxnard, California factory the last few years!
Guilds are awesome.
Just one thing: Bryan Adams is Canadian 🇨🇦
Richie Hayvs? Ha, no.
I had to stop the video and listen to Tuesday's Gone...

I've got a 79 F50R. But it's not the same woods. I got a Rosewood neck. the 55 does not.

I've never heard a guild sound as good as my D35 from manyyyy years ago.
@@dannymccoy1783 imagine What the D55 sound like.
Kechehoo
Richie HAVES???? SHEESH. Read a Book!
Would you please stand still.
He can't
Used to have a gad30 iirc. Chiner made. Played decently but was a thousand freedom bucks for a sweat shop guitar.
Then pay $4000-$6000 for one mass-produced in the US.
@@lowellcalavera6045 guilds are 3k in the us range
Acoustic ????…..
To me guild sounds awesome !!!!
I miss th g36 I sold
