- Previously unreleased alternate take of "Yankee Bayonet (I Will Be Home Then)" with vocals from Alela Diane from the upcoming 10th Anniversary Edition of The Crane Wife - coming December 9. Pre-order the 5 LP + 1 Blu-ray deluxe box set at DecemberistsShop.com
We weren't really sure what the right voice was for "The Girl" in Yankee Bayonet - we invited both Laura Veirs and Alela Diane to lend their voices to the part. It really was an embarrassment of riches. We can't remember why we opted for Laura's take, they were both so lovely. But, in the end, a choice had to be made...
I just found out yesterday, the Decemberists are coming to Denver Colorado, so I am going to see them for my birthday present, I am very much looking forward to seeing them in concert.
Song is very catchy and could set anyone to dancing.❤️❤️
I LOVE THE DECEMBERISTS!
I like both voices, but the original take is perfect. Just a beautiful song, gives me goosebumps every time I hear it.
I don’t understand what you mean when you say it gives you goosebumps when you hear it.😮😮
Alela Diane is great
Nice to hear this alternative version, but they definitely made the right choice. Laura Veirs's voice has more of the character they seemed to be looking for.
This is a very catchy tune, and Wood set anyone’s feet to tapping.
Y😢😢
I love the harmony between Colin Meloy and that woman's voices
I was jamming this slick tune when I was in Iraq and my wife and son were home. It will always hold a special place.
This is quite the jam & could set anyone to dancing
Love this
I guess I'm the only one that prefers this version, going by the comments
Tbh me too
I prefer this one too.
Same brah
Way better than the original.
I met the guy who sung this and I play dnd with his son
The original version was a better fit, but it's still a wonderful song, regardless.
I literally can't tell a difference??
Çok güzelsin
