Great video. Very informative. If you look at the unit you can clearly see the letters and numbers that he is stating. Was able to hook up the board in less than 30 minutes very helpful. Thank you. Keep up the videos.
@paraglidermx
i agree. thats what i would do ,i do not use the delta tune but i do use the rf gain to drop noise level.
Check to make sure the wires soldered to the echo knob aren't grounding on another knob's casing. Also make sure the knob casing itself isn't grounding on anything. This happened to me with my 29 ST and caused the same buzz. Also check all solder points to make sure they aren't cold soldered and weak connections. Hope this helps!
Thanks for that tute! However, what would be a good 'guesstimate' to set the two adjustable pots to on the TRB X2?
I don't have a Delta Tune switch and as you pointed out, the RF gain would be the next choice in your opinion. I'm not so sure I want to do that but I forget how often, and for what did I use that RF Gain switch years ago when I drove TT OTR/48.
I have the same radio except it's the Cobra 29 NW LTD Classic. So I guess they put the Dimmer switch where the Delta Tune switch would go. I'm going to read-up on the usefulness of the RF Gain switch. I may install it in the back of the radio if I have the room.
I had echo/reverb installed by a tech in a Terra Haute truck stop so I don't really know what he did. The way most of us had our echo set was to a reverb effect with a "short defeat" setting. It would sound like your in a tunnel with a mild amount of reverb in the background.
It makes the radio sound "Big" which is a 'thing' among truckers.
Thanks again,
Rich
Keep the videos coming,great one
Are their any special considerations when installing on a Cobra 29 LT with Bluetooth function seeing as how you need to tie into the mic? is there a specific kit for that radio?
would it be hard to put an echo board in the new 29 lx le
i have a stryker 447 hpc do you have any suggetion to rec better
Oh man I wouldn't no what to do without my rf gain pot damn thats crazy. I have always taken out the worthless delta tune know. The rf gain is a very valuable knob to have full access to.
NICE VIDEO GR8 WORK HAS ANY ONE EVER LOOKED AT ALL THE REVIEWS ON 440 CB SHOP?
I tried installing one of these last night in my 148GTL. I didn't understand what was meant in the instructions by "unsolder the audio line from the microphone jack". I didn't see this wire, but clipped what I though it was and soldered the audio output lead from J1 to the "removed" wire from the audio line. The radio didn't transmit, I ended up touching the wire back to the microphone jack (where I clipped it) and it would transmit, but the echo would not work. Not sure what I'm doing wrong :(
I have a realistic deskmic and I'd like to remove the amplifier board and install the trbx3 in its place.
Does the trbx3 have built-in preamp?
If so I was thinking of using the realistic slider for the preamp level.
Could I run the board off a 9V battery?
Do you think it would work?
73's
My Galaxy 959 has a circuit board on the back of the microphone plug, Any chance you could do a vid on how to install echo board to this radio?
yes i am at a stand still also
i would love to see a video on the 959 too
molto bravo grande lavoro posso avere la spiegazione dettagliata ?
On a super star 121 there are no wires in cb at mic plug it's a circuit board it goes straight into??
CAN I INSTALLED THAT IN MY RANGER RCI-2950
On this radio, I would put the control in the spot for Delta Tune. On a 29 NW LTD, I'd set the dimmer where I want it, tape it up inside, and put the echo control in that spot (I think it's the same location on both radios, because the NW doesn't have Delta Tune.
What is the white wire on J5 ?
what do you do on a radio that has a tiny circuit board on the back of the mic plug inside the radio. commonly found on cobra ssb radios
Find the pin on the front side then trace it back to the pins on the inside with a multi meter set to continuity BEEP
Need the Workmand BB2 board wiring.
Had to past this here
A thing or two about internal echo boards....
If you are the one of several thousand people who have internal echo boards installed inside your CB radio and the controls are located outside the CB , this little article is for you . I have to be quite direct about this and do not want to offend any CB repair shop but I constantly get radios with echo boards that are just dropped into the radio with bubble wrap , black tape , sandwich bags , I have even had them wrapped in foil . If your tech does not understand how to install your echo board the CORRECT way then hand him a copy of this article as a guideline to help him along .
First of all , remember to always use 8 volts for the supply and make sure it is regulated . I see them hooked up to ---->>{12 volts}
Tin foil is the way to go
The advantage is that it if FUN!!!!
I would like to see the inside of a talk back speakers
Same process in a cobra 148gtl?
Why remove rf gain? What does wiring it together do?
It takes away the taper pot for adjusting it and sets it on "full blast". Because if you're like me I always have it up all the way to have full recieve.
What do you do when your cb mic plug in cb is on a board. There is no wires inside radios that come off mic plug.
What is the difference between RF Limited TRB-X2 Turbo Echo board and the
RF Limited TRB-X3 Turbo Echo board ?
Apparently nothing cuz you ain't getting a reply
can anyonedemonstrate the 150 roger beeps ?
He needs to make a demo of how cool it is to talk into it while still keying down move the knobs around. Making all sorts of cyborg and whammy sounds. No it won't hurt it. I got a deal on 20 of these for 50 bucks and have done some crazy mods to some that make me sound like a robot or have a low or high pitched voice.
I have a Uniden Pc 78 Ltw haw much you charge to do this to my radio thanks.
the average cost is about $50-60 at most shops
Hi I have a TRB-X3 are they the same way of wire ING and any help would be great thank you or is there any way u could send me the dirgram of please and thank s from the UK
One more thing...I have a 5 pin mic. The instructions state to wire certain things to the 'ground' pin; I have two different grounds for the 5 pin. Does it matter which one I use?
As long as its a ground to one of the cans on the board use it
Properly adjusted echo actually makes you easier to understand. I know that sounds weird but it's true and that's why most drivers use it.
I will have to disagree on your statement. Echo makes you sound funky. I'm sure you've heard people out there that run far out of control and sound like poopoo
1969Charger4401969 You are correct. I run a Galaxy 99 and I always have my echo set so low you really don't notice it. It's just like a slight delay in an electric guitar tone, it doesn't get all crazy out of control runaway repeats but just enough to enhance your sound.
Hello, I don´t understand why to use echo on CB. There are any reason to use it?. Thank you.
The only reason is cause i like it.
Mine worked fine then 3 hours later it started with a loud buzz till i turn down the small knob. it would stay quiet till i modulated then the buzz starts again. Any clues?
12 or 8 volt DC board?
is it a sin wife said they that on cober 29 ltd classic let me know place.
Why not show how to do the adjustment after the install ?
IS THE TRB X2 AS GOOD AS THE TRB-1? STILL HAVE THE MIC PREAMP?
Trb4 is better
Like the video can you tell if I can install this in a car radio
How could I put this unit in a separate box?
They can do it. Watch the Troy Radio Service channel videos.
Where do you even buy one of these. Can't find one.
These have been discontinued so probably pretty tough to find one. There are some other echo boards out there that offer similar features or these sometimes come up on ebay.
There's a lot of explaining here but you're just saying this wire that wire this wire that wire you need to have a pointer to point to the wires you were talking about other words you're just confusing a lot of people
If only they sent instructions with the echo boards...
Makes sense to me. Maybe you shouldn't work on radios.
That's need how u do that
type in IGLOO ELECTRONICS BRIGHOUSE on youtube for all your radio needs
Echo boards connect to 8 volts not 12. Why remove rf gain?😳
Is taht or make a hole on the radio
@@marioislas1555 or remove delta tune. I've never used delta tune.
And you want that fooooorrrr ?
Pissing u off
ok new radio, new board same install, same issue. WTF? Turn mic up half way and loud fart sounding buzz
cut the black power ground right out, don't use it at all. Your getting a ground loop
seriusly if you dont know what your doing dont do it u will crap your radios take your radio to a electronics shop and they will do it for about 30 dollars!
I am not sure why someone would take a CB with already crappy AM audio, and make it sound totally unintelligible by adding a echo board. The purpose of a CB is to communicate from one device to another. When you add this shit to a radio, it makes the other radio not be able to understand a word you are saying, thus making communication impossible. Kind of like having 4WD with bald tires then wondering why you can't go anywhere in the snow. Kinda dumb.
stupid noise toy
man i hate echo... 9 times out of 10 you can not understand the person with it on.... but to each his own...
That's if you're that D-head that has it up too high. I think it gives you that "big radio sound" by just having a touch of echo on. ......but to each his own...
