Often saw the Spitfire on its plinth at the gates of Thornhill Airfirce base in Zimbabwe...where many Commonwealth pilots were trained in WW2

Yes the pilots...but Supermarines superb design, Rolls Royce and a great engineer got them home again. What a feat of endurance of man and machine. R J Mitchell would be so proud.
