🆕 UPDATE: I have made a revision of the whole thing after this video was uploaded and made some changes to the score. So the corrections aren't represented in this video. The final revised version of the transcription (PDF & Soundslice) is available on my site (at the link above).
Soundslice is a great platform for learning music via interactive music notation. It has powerful learning features - notation synced with real recordings, speed control, waveform, keyboard, and metronome. There’s so much that notation can’t communicate.
Frans Elsen (May 28, 1934 - February 23, 2011) was a Dutch jazz pianist, composer and arranger, and educator. He was a pioneer of bebop in the Netherlands. He also wrote educational jazz books about harmony and improvisation. Frans has played with many jazz greats in the '50s through the '90s he arranged for the Big Bands and small ensembles. Frans Elsen helped to establish a Jazz education in the Netherlands and was the main teacher and longtime member of the faculty at The Royal Conservatory in The Hague, Holland. He has taught generations of students from around the world. Frans was a close friend of the great pianist Dr. Barry Harris and helped to organize the famous Barry Harris Workshops in Holland that took place in The Hague every spring from 1989 to 2012. Many of the videos from the workshops were taken by Frans (you can find them on the BarryHarrisVideos UA-cam channel). Frans has written several important books on jazz harmony and improvisation.

I had the privilege of meeting Frans at Barry's workshops in Italy and he had a wicked sense of humor and was a delightful person and of course an incredible musician.

Hy Alec, great job! I see a possible missing note your transcription, and I think you will love to check this:
It's hard to see the bars numbers, but I think on bar 14 (3bars before the B) you forget the note B on the left hand chord (where the right hand is doing a A major triad)
And, to be more precise, I would write C# instead of Db in the chord, and call it G7
This chord stroke my ear because I'm not used to put the #11 on the left hand.

Hey Guillame, thank you. Yes, this is the spot. I know what are you talkin about. I hear Frans actually meant to play an Eb7 chord as he does everywhere else in every first ending of an A1 and A3 part of the tune. the voicing is exactly as I wrote. You can hear him make a little arpeggiato in the left hand playiong only tree notes. The only thing is the "E" in his right hand - sounds like a mistake. Maybe he plays an "F" I am not sure. But it is definetely not a G7#11 sound. Although it might work perfectly well there.
Well done for paying attention to the details! 😎
