To what it refers, however, is a more complicated subject. Why, in the Christian framework, did God need to give his own life to save us from sin? And what about all of those people saying Easter was originally pagan? The Bible is about to get Weird...

This video saved me. For years I lived in sin and for half my life I struggled with porn addiction. After hear Isaiah's telling of the passion, I repented and gave myself to Jesus. Since that night I left that awful sin in the past and the temptation is gone. My life has gotten 1000 percent better. I'm so grateful to be saved.

      Romans 10:8 But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach;
9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
11 For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.
12 For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him.
13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
14 How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?
15 And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!
16 But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Esaias saith, Lord, who hath believed our report?
17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

Ya but barely. Supposedly the Roman's were spread thin in that area. And he was on thin ice with Caesar. So he was kinda backed into a corner on this. And Jesus basically told him not to think too hard on it. There wasn't anything anyone could do to stop the mob.

He was in-between a rock and a hard place. He was a pagan and didn't want to execute Christ, and Christ even acknowledged this. He still sinned by not being brave and giving in to his fear of rome and the pharisees and saducees. Christ, our king told him who has the greater sin, you or them. And these things had to happen anyway

I've always found the character and actions of Pontius Pilate so interesting throughout the Gospels, especially within the Gospel of John. On the one hand, he's a politician and a Roman, a foreigner sent to oversee a part of the Roman Empire. The Hebrews have every reason to despise them for occupying their Holy Land and he has every reason to look down on them as simply more troublemakers who don't submit to Roman supremacy.
And yet it seems like he does everything within his power to avoid this unnecessary death. It shows that even if Pilate didn't believe that Jesus was the Son of God, at least not at first, he certainly knew that He was innocent, or at least not deserving of death. You get a sense for his shock and surprise at how brutally the Pharisees want Jesus dealt with. Crucifixion was one of the most painful, agonizing methods of execution, reserved for those who had committed serious offenses and needed to be made an example of. Even as he washes his hands and sentences Jesus to death, Pilate did so begrudgingly, not believing the man before him has done anything deserving of such pain. It's almost like he's apologizing to Jesus when they speak, trying to tell Him that he wishes it could be another way but it seems that both of them are bound to this path.
It makes Pontius Pilate so much more than a "bad guy" of the Bible, some secondary antagonist in the story of Christ's betrayal. You can almost feel his inward struggle between doing what he knows is right versus what he has to in order to keep order within his province. Realistically, do I think that Pilate knew or realizes who Jesus truly was in the end? Probably not. But he certainly knew that Jesus did not deserve to die on that cross from a legal perspective, and anyone who tries everything they can to NOT condemn an innocent man despite having the power to do so on a whim has, at least in my opinion, and honorable heart.

Very well said. This whole thing just speaks to the fact that the Bible is a book of stories that ACTUALLY happened. All of the nuances of what people want and feel are REAL. These people were hungry, cracked jokes, tried to get a good job in their community, got confused, they're real people.
All of these stories follow people that God wanted to share with us, and just from the honestly condensed text we see a living breathing society of people that the "main" character live with.
1 Samuel is probably my favorite right now for pure storytelling.❤️❤️

Absolutely amazing stream, been a long time since I cried like that. Couple fun facts, the "guards" stationed around the tomb would've numbered between 16-20 troops depending on which century they were pulled from, and the wording on how the stone was rolled away implies that the rock was rolled up and over the tomb. This means that 16-20 of the best trained soldiers in the world were scared out of their minds by a bright glowing man shoulder-pressing a boulder over a hill. (relatable)

It’s my understanding that that LotR quote wasn’t actually Tolkien. It was added by the writers for the films. It’s really good though. I love LotR. The part that gets me is the houses of healing when Aragorn heals Faramir and Faramir immediately recognizes Aragorn as his king. The symbolism there is awesome.

My rec on Easter movie viewing is "Risen (2016)", starring Joseph Fiennes. It is a story about a Roman soldier who is assigned to investigate the disappearance of Jesus' body, on fear of an uprising. Clavius goes around interviewing the various followers of Jesus, and such Romans as one of the guardsmen assigned at the tomb, until he unexpectedly encounters Jesus in a house in the Jewish district, along with his apostles. The sum total of both his investigation and meeting Jesus makes him decide to follow Jesus, helping Him and the apostles avoid the raid. He witnesses a healing and Jesus ascension, and heads off on his own travels as the other apostles are also heading out.
I did not sit and watch it solidly, at the time Mum watched it, but what I picked up of it made a really interesting story. I like that it is more the POV of an outsider, a Roman looking at the situation and puzzling through it, to eventually find something special and fore-swear his Roman polytheistic beliefs in favour of Christ.

If you decide to pay respects to Jesus Christ's by taking a couple of hours of your day, or spent your day in personal/group prayer and/or eat bread and drink a wine (or something with/of grapes if you can't buy a wine) then you are doing it right.
It's up to the people to decide how they want to do, the order and message is there, God allows people to do what they want to and we are all judged for it.
Eggs and bunnies has nothing to do with Jesus, Idk why it is so difficult for people to understand everything on this world is tainted with sin and deception one way or the other.

@@Beta_Mixes tbh, use the days after Easter to do all of that, considering the week after the day of Easter is "discount chocolate week" anyways lol

In all truth Isaiah's telling of the Easter story is as good or better than any I've ever heard. It's been said already, but the reverence and emotion he tells it with reminds me that God is with us. There is no need to despair for he has risen.

The reason for eggs at Easter is very simple. Through most of Christianity, and still in some traditions, Easter/Pascha comes after forty days of Lent. During Lent believers were supposed to fast from meat among other things. So your chickens have been producing eggs for the last six weeks, and now the fast is over and you can finally eat them. And you have a lot of them. You're gonna have some crazy egg parties. Yay meat!

When Wendigoon mentioned being in a recreation of the Sepulcher, I wonder if it was the one at Fields of the Woods. If so that’s really cool, cause it’s right by where I live! (I never really knew it was a big deal until I was older, as a kid we’d go on day trips there all the time)

Thank you for the episode. As someone in the process of rediscovering faith, the Resurrection has always been one of those topics I struggle with conceptually. Do you know of any other resources that could help someone in my current spiritual predicament?

As a former enemy of God, rescued by grace that I can't comprehend, the image of our precious savior washing Judas' feet with full knowledge of what's to come... That's my Jesus!❤🎉

30:40 Hmmm, just like modern times. The weapon of war at the time, the sword, was illegal for citizens to own but Jesus says it's important to own one for self defense whether or not it's legal. I wonder how this relates to modern times.
