Vocalist Asami is a former R&B/Jazz singer who took classical ballet lessons for over a decade starting at the age of two, and has not changed her basic singing style since joining LOVEBITES. This was a request from the band members. Their metal does not feature any decadence, alcohol or drugs, but is filled with dedication, courage to overcome obstacles, love and beauty. If you really think a metal band needs a growl, I recommend "NEMOPHILA," another Japanese female metal band.
You've just discovered probably the most talented (in terms of pure musicianship) metal band to appear in the last 20 years. Iron Maiden is the band that LOVEBITES most closely resembles, however they are on average faster and heavier than Maiden. Asami's singing style is often likened to Bruce Dickinson. They also have a number of thrash songs that have similarities to Slayer, Anthrax and Testament.

In the cover they made of Painkiller, Asami pushed her voice a more than she is used to. And the result is amazing. I'm sure Asami can still make her voice to evolve.

There's some really good bands around the world, but the Japanese metal/rock scene is the best in the world currently IMO. I've been listening to metal for 5 decades and Lovebites is as talented (If not more so) than most. Their live videos are incredibly tight. The 2 guitarists (Midori & Miyakp) are among the best duos I've heard ever. Dive deeper, they just get more inpressive. The level of musicianship is off the charts.
This was song 2 on the setlist of this particular show. Song 3 and 5 have much more movement by them. And Holy War also was a new song for them to play at this time and not an easy one … I would say in general LOVEBITES main focus is on the music itself. The intensity of movement and other performance aspects varies from song to song and fits the feel of the songs. I’ve seen them live 3 weeks ago, in a small venue (600 in the audience). Stood first row, high energy level on stage and in the audience.

Lovebites are a Japanese metal band, formed in 2016 by Miho, Bass, and Haruna, Drums, who are former members of Destrose, a band that broke up in 2015. They take much of their influence from the 1970's and 80's British and European bands such as Iron Maiden, Judas Priest and Metallica. Miho is a big fan of Steve Harris, bass player with Iron Maiden and is influenced by his playing style. She left the band in 2021 for personal reasons, she is the bassist in this video. The present members are, Asami, Vocals and Piano. She trained in Ballet Dancing and before Lovebites was a R&B singer. She writes many of the lyrics and sings in English, not easy for a native Japanese speaker. Midori, ESP Guitars. The blond 'Amazon Warrior' who is also a body builder. Miyako, Dean and Gibson Guitars, Piano and Keyboards. the 'serious' one with long black hair. She is a classically trained pianist who writes much of the music, often incorporating classical themes into her compositions. She recently posted a 3 part series on her YT channel 'MIYAKO OFFICIAL' about the process she uses to compose new music in her home studio. Both Guitarists play lead, seamlessly swapping lead and rhythm as required. They play harmonised dual solos. Fami, Bass. The 'new girl', recruited as replacement for Miho in late 2022 when she was 20 years old and still at university, playing her first live show with the band in March 2023. She has her own YT channel that has nearly 700,000 subs. Check out her 'Alien Alien' Slap Bass cover from when she was about 16. Haruna, Drums. The 'Little BIG Engine'. a tiny lady, 1.45 meters tall, who is the power house that drives the band. I saw Lovebites live in London recently, and watched Haruna in awe. Hard to rock out in high heels sadly. During the European tour most chose comfort instead of style, which made them more mobile. Especially Fami, the new bassist.
That is just because they are all virtuoso musicians. You want them to look like their are straining hard, why? You have been tricked into seeing lesser musicians that actually have to sweat hard to even come within 75% of matching this. Keep watching, they actually do have plenty of fun moments. They will destroy you while smiling, like they are having toast and tea.
You misunderstood. The fact that they were producing so much and they made it look effortless. That's amazing. I was just describing with some tongue in cheek humor. Get it? 😁
Its easier to play hard (and sing) with precision if you stand still. Moving around is mostly for show and if you want to be more expressive. But you will lose precision. Those two guitarists are insanely locked in to each other and too the drummer/bass. They do have simpler music where they move more.

Always curious as to why American reactors in particular expect bands to be Olympic athletes on stage whilst playing pretty complicated stuff (and with Lovebites, in heels, no less). As for growling, well, early on you made a comparison to Iron Maiden, and where would you hear growling in any of their music? It wouldn't fit. Again, with maybe one or two exceptions I've only ever heard American reactors mention that, which is interesting to me. Still, it's good that you enjoyed it anyway, and they have many more awesome songs.
I agree, it does seem to me as well to be an American, as in USA, thing. I suspect many USAians have come to think of grunge and death metal as being all there is to it.

Here some information about them:
The band was formed in 2016 by original bassist Miho and drummer Haruna. Their first EP and album came out in 2017. So far LOVEBITES have released 4 albums, some Singles/EPs and also a bunch of DVD/Blu-ray live recordings.
Back in 2018/2019 LOVEBITES have already toured in Europe, including appearances at the major metal festivals as Wacken, Download, Bloodstock, Graspop. In 2018 they also won the Metal Hammer UK Golden Gods Award for best new band.
Then came covid, their original bass player and founder Miho quit the band for personal reasons and two babies were born. After a break LOVEBITES came back with new bassist Fami and new song „Judgement Day“ in late 2022. A new album with the same title came out in February 2023.
LOVEBITES just finished touring in Europe. I saw them for the first time 3 weeks ago 🤘🏼🐺🔥
They will be in the US later this year.

She has an amazing vocal range and vibrato, writes most of the lyrics, also did parts of the song writing for their latest 2 albums, she is a former ballerina and RnB/soul singer
Miyako on guitars, piano, keyboards (the golden touch):
She is the musical brain of the band, main composer and arranger, a soulful but also shreddy guitar player and concert level pianist, furthermore she is a gear nerd
Midori on guitars (crazy shredder):
Incredibly fast and technical guitar player, has contributed to songwriting for a few of their songs, also she is a body fitness athlete
Haruna on drums (little big engine):
Plays very fast pace over long distances, she is very efficient and her stamina is admirable, the cymbal work is outstanding, she also wrote one of their songs including lyrics, creates handmade miniature fake food
Fami on bass since 2022 (shining fingers):
Absolute bass prodigy with outstanding technique, she speaks faster than sonic speed as she plays and smiles non-stop
Miho on bass until 2021 (natural born headbanger):
We will never forget her, she is a great bass player, she wrote several of the songs for the band’s albums 1-3

Vocalist Asami is a former R&B/Jazz singer who took classical ballet lessons for over a decade starting at the age of two, and has not changed her basic singing style since joining LOVEBITES. This was a request from the band members.
Their metal does not feature any decadence, alcohol or drugs, but is filled with dedication, courage to overcome obstacles, love and beauty.
If you really think a metal band needs a growl, I recommend "NEMOPHILA," another Japanese female metal band.

You've just discovered probably the most talented (in terms of pure musicianship) metal band to appear in the last 20 years. Iron Maiden is the band that LOVEBITES most closely resembles, however they are on average faster and heavier than Maiden. Asami's singing style is often likened to Bruce Dickinson.
They also have a number of thrash songs that have similarities to Slayer, Anthrax and Testament.

In the cover they made of Painkiller, Asami pushed her voice a more than she is used to. And the result is amazing. I'm sure Asami can still make her voice to evolve.

There's some really good bands around the world, but the Japanese metal/rock scene is the best in the world currently IMO. I've been listening to metal for 5 decades and Lovebites is as talented (If not more so) than most. Their live videos are incredibly tight. The 2 guitarists (Midori & Miyakp) are among the best duos I've heard ever. Dive deeper, they just get more inpressive. The level of musicianship is off the charts.
This was song 2 on the setlist of this particular show. Song 3 and 5 have much more movement by them. And Holy War also was a new song for them to play at this time and not an easy one …
I would say in general LOVEBITES main focus is on the music itself. The intensity of movement and other performance aspects varies from song to song and fits the feel of the songs.
I’ve seen them live 3 weeks ago, in a small venue (600 in the audience). Stood first row, high energy level on stage and in the audience.
I'm not suggesting they move around more. My humor failed. I was amazed that they made it look effortless. Thanks for watching.

Welcome to Lovebites, the Wolfpack, Lovebites fans around the world will be along to give you information and recommendations.
Lovebites are a Japanese metal band, formed in 2016 by Miho, Bass, and Haruna, Drums, who are former members of Destrose, a band that broke up in 2015. They take much of their influence from the 1970's and 80's British and European bands such as Iron Maiden, Judas Priest and Metallica. Miho is a big fan of Steve Harris, bass player with Iron Maiden and is influenced by his playing style. She left the band in 2021 for personal reasons, she is the bassist in this video.
The present members are,
Asami, Vocals and Piano. She trained in Ballet Dancing and before Lovebites was a R&B singer. She writes many of the lyrics and sings in English, not easy for a native Japanese speaker.
Midori, ESP Guitars. The blond 'Amazon Warrior' who is also a body builder.
Miyako, Dean and Gibson Guitars, Piano and Keyboards. the 'serious' one with long black hair. She is a classically trained pianist who writes much of the music, often incorporating classical themes into her compositions. She recently posted a 3 part series on her YT channel 'MIYAKO OFFICIAL' about the process she uses to compose new music in her home studio.
Both Guitarists play lead, seamlessly swapping lead and rhythm as required. They play harmonised dual solos.
Fami, Bass. The 'new girl', recruited as replacement for Miho in late 2022 when she was 20 years old and still at university, playing her first live show with the band in March 2023. She has her own YT channel that has nearly 700,000 subs. Check out her 'Alien Alien' Slap Bass cover from when she was about 16.
Haruna, Drums. The 'Little BIG Engine'. a tiny lady, 1.45 meters tall, who is the power house that drives the band. I saw Lovebites live in London recently, and watched Haruna in awe. She plays fast and precisely throughout concerts that can be up to near 2 hours long.

That is just because they are all virtuoso musicians. You want them to look like their are straining hard, why? You have been tricked into seeing lesser musicians that actually have to sweat hard to even come within 75% of matching this.
Keep watching, they actually do have plenty of fun moments. They will destroy you while smiling, like they are having toast and tea.

Its easier to play hard (and sing) with precision if you stand still. Moving around is mostly for show and if you want to be more expressive. But you will lose precision. Those two guitarists are insanely locked in to each other and too the drummer/bass. They do have simpler music where they move more.

Always curious as to why American reactors in particular expect bands to be Olympic athletes on stage whilst playing pretty complicated stuff (and with Lovebites, in heels, no less). As for growling, well, early on you made a comparison to Iron Maiden, and where would you hear growling in any of their music? It wouldn't fit. Again, with maybe one or two exceptions I've only ever heard American reactors mention that, which is interesting to me. Still, it's good that you enjoyed it anyway, and they have many more awesome songs.
I agree, it does seem to me as well to be an American, as in USA, thing. I suspect many USAians have come to think of grunge and death metal as being all there is to it.
