Awesome video Thankyou... I have never considered Bulgaria before other than maybe to try as a beach holiday one day.... but now I want to see the country... you have inspired me
Buzludzha is absolutely incredible even in it's dilapidated state. It would be a shame if they didn't restore it. I was also very impressed with the Shipka Memorial Church.....wow! What an incredible structure. I have to wonder when it was completed? It looks like it's been there for quite some time. Absolutely gorgeous architecture. It must have taken forever to build. I would love to see these areas one day, and likely will, but unfortunately for the moment, my time is currently allocated by others. So, I find myself content enough to discover the world through your eyes. Very nice one Alina...........💖
Ironically, the Shipka Memorial is quite a bit older than the Buzludzha one, having been finished in 1934. The Memorial Church is even older, dating back to 1902. As you probably heard while visiting, they were built to commemorate a battle in the Russo-Turkish War of 1877-78 when the Bulgarian volunteers aiding the Russian army managed to halt the advance of Ottoman reinforcements through the Shipka Pass, who were meant to help the capitulating Ottoman garrisons in Northern Bulgaria. The success of the Bulgarian volunteers was against all odds, because they were worse equipped and had little military training. The battle is often compared to the last stand of the Spartans at Thermopylae.
Some people don't want to remember communistic times, they want ruin everything related.. But this is part of the history anyway.. So nobody can't do anything. The building itself is.. nobody in the world can't comment when look for the first time.
Alina, I am jealous(in a good way), that you are in Bulgaria for not so long ago, and you are succeed to visit so many interesting places here, including my city Plovdiv😊. My grandfather was one of the main master-builders of that monument. I hope to go there next year and feel the atmosphere of that place.
Im glad u like it, not many foreigners are interested in our country. And hope for the next time buzludzha to be restored and open for people, because the vibe to be inside of it is just next level ! Safe travel !
They have recently been restoring parts of the monuments murals inside. It is pronounced БУ-ЗЛУ-ДЖА (BOO-ZLOO-D'JA) JA as in JA in JAM - there is no H sound. The front doors used to be cracked open and not barricaded, that was the main way they got in.
Hi Alina! Relics from the Soviet / Communist past are elements of history that should not be forgotten. Younger and future generations need to know and appreciate such artifacts, so mistakes of the past are not repeated in the future. Soviet-era relics are gradually disappearing / decaying in Lithuania - elsewhere too. I very much enjoyed this clip, especially your areal / drone footage. Good safe, driving. Nice work, Alina!!! Some serendipity: One year ago (12 October 2019) I had a quick introduction to the history of Bulgaria. My wife and I had just landed in Paris hours earlier. Early in the evening we took a short sightseeing walk along the River Seine. The first prominent building that caught our attention was a magnificent modern structure - the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity, the recently constructed Russian Orthodox hub in Paris. Across the street, along the ‘Place de la Résistance’, we were captivated by a splendid vintage structure - the Embassy of Bulgaria. The entrance to the Embassy is adorned by a sculpture and plaque honoring 19th century revolutionary Vasil Levski (Васил Левски) - the Apostle of Freedom - who strategized a national movement to liberate Bulgaria from Ottoman rule. Vasil Levski envisioned a Bulgarian republic of ethnic and religious equality. His concepts have been described as a struggle for human rights, supposedly inspired by the progressive liberalism of the French Revolution and 19th century Western European society. Vasil Levski was captured and executed by hanging, on 18 February 1873 in Sofia, Ottoman Bulgaria, at age 35. P.S. The iconic Tour Eiffel looks amazing in the nighttime Paris sky!!!

Had never seen any of your videos until about an hour ago. All have been great, but this one I found very interesting. Thanks for braving it alone. Just for the record, you are stunningly beautiful, obviously intelligent (anyone who speaks Russian must be), and a fantastic tour guide. Apparently a decent drone pilot also. Keep the videos coming.
I just found your channel and you have touched me with your content. I am an absolute history buff and you are taking me on a journey that I have always wanted to do but can not afford. My deepest thanks and I hope you keep things rolling like you are. I have seen some of the sites on some TV shows but you offer a completely different perspective than a "produced" TV show. Loved the video Alina. Those Soviet and communist monuments were fascinating - have marked them on Google Maps and will hopefully make it there in person someday. Reminded me of the Alyosha statue you showed in your Plovdiv video - must be incredible to see them in the flesh. Placing your backpack in the door like that was a good call - kind of thing I'd do! Sounds like there's a lot of places to visit in that area so looking forward to your next video.

Hi Alina ! Started following your video uploads recently ❤️👍🏻. At the end of this particular video you have this sparkle in your eyes that very often occurs in foreigners and tourists who visit Bulgaria 🇧🇬. My motherland holds a lot of knowledge, mystery, culture. The vibrational fields is like no other on the planet. Nature in this country penetrates you in a very ,very unique way...it’s almost start whispering the intentions God’s have for you. I know that the beauty of nature can be seen and undeniably be appreciated ALL OVER THE EARTH but when it comes to nature of Bulgaria ,we all must stay silent and put it in slightly different category. You look happy and freed which is expected- there is space in this country and the more time you spend in it, the more it will mould your mindset about life and very founds mental aspects of purpose of living . Enjoy and cherish every moment in Mother Bulgaria and let her amuse you the way only she can! Love your positivity and your Russian beauty radiates through computer screen ❤️
Dear Alina, I enjoyed your video so much! In the same time, i feel ashamed that i never visited any of these monuments even though Bulgaria is my homeland. Intend to watch the video again later, with a glass of wine. As for the name Buzludzha. In transliteration, the letter 'Ж' becomes 'zh'. Hence, Бузлуджа is written as Buzludzha in English. The sound for the letter 'Ж' in Bulgarian is identical to the Russian pronunciation, just like you pronounce 's' in 'pleasure'. Keep up with the good work. Stay safe and best of luck. До новой встречи.
Great video, showing places of my country out of the usual tourist destinations. Thank you, Alina! Btw, the event in Kazanlak was apparently a campain for hiring professional soldiers. That, I believe was the reason for the military machines passed by. Already many years Bulgarian men are not drafted, but we have professional army.

Алина. Очень хорошее видео с красивыми видами и подробными комментариями. Браво You're so enthusiastic, restless & always full of energy. Way to go! Hello from U.S.A.
What a great, first time, road trip adventure. Strange seeing that Buzludzha monument shaped like a flying saucer lol. Makes me wonder what they were thinking at the time they drew up the architectural plans. You seemed confident driving so I guess the nerves must have worn off after a while. The Shipka Church looked absolutely gorgeous. As always, an excellent video Alina. Thanks for sharing.
Alina - a prudent move to block the tower door from closing. Thank you so very much for extending the reading times on the subtitles. This is a very enjoyable video - nice work. Be Safe.
Great video! You should definitely come back in Summer, when the Open Buzludzha Festival will take place. BTW: The torches are on your from the monument to Shipka, so there is no need to hike :D but thats something you notice when you're there frequently.
Alina, as always I love your videos. You are a very good videographer and I appreciate the editing and drone you are using for the aerial shots. You are so beautiful inside and out; your family must be very proud of you.
Our government is too stupid to realize it... and on top of that, people always say they don't need a communist monuments in Bulgaria and the reconstruction would be a waste of money. So the government is not the only problem...
Nice video. However, there is some misunderstanding about this monument. First it has nothing to do with the Soviet Union, Soviet Influece etc. Things soviet are in the former Soviet union. We have a couple of monuments of the Soviet Red army, which occupied Bulgarian against any international rules during WWII...(a couple of monuments to the Soviet Army in Bulgaria + Alyosha monument). The Buzludja monument was opened at the 1300 anniversary celebration of the Bulgarian state in 1981 and it is a monument of the Bulgarian Communist and Socialist Party. This peak was chosen because it is connected to Bulgarian history- an important historic battle against the Turks led by Bulgarian hero Hadzi Dimitar took place there. There is a monument of Hadzi Dimitar close to this one but most people ignore it. This is the reason why this peak was chosen as the founding location of the Bulgarian Socialist Party by Dimitar Blagoev in the late 19th century, which again had nothing do with Bolshevism or USSR, whcih did not exist at the time. The mozaics on the walls represent Bulgarian leaders and the founders of communism the Germans Marx and Engels . If anything, this monument is a statement that the BCP wanted to thing their own way and this is why they linked to a place symbolic of Bulgarian independence efforts and opened in a year historic for Bulgaria. It was built by donations and voluntary labour by the Bulgarian people, not by the party. there is even a time capsule inside. I wish that Bulgaria had not left it to deteriorate , but many Bulgarians would be happy if such monuments were completely destroyed, so up to now it has been left to its own devices.
Hi Alina, you should have visited the Thracian tombs around Shipka and Kazanlak. This area is called "The Valley of the Thracian Kings". The tombs are great.
Amazing. Thanks for sharing. A couple of things: Firstly: Well done for having the courage to make trip - personally I find these off the beaten track places far more interesting than the usual tourist destinations. Secondly- love your choice of music and images with this video- keep up teh good work!
Love your trips around Bulgaria, if you have time visit the „Danube Pearl“, Russe. It’s on the border with Romania. The architecture of the city reminds of Vienna. And around the city are also some historical places you should visit 😊

Loving your videos! Thank you for showing around these wonderful countries in such great detail and respect! Especially countries that are rarely explored compared to others, like Bulgaria 😊
Amazing video!! Whilst in Kazanlak go to the rose producing area to see how the rose oil is processed. If you have some time go to Stara Zagora, which is the city of the linden trees, straight roads & Roman ruins. Have a safe trip and enjoyable time and as we say in Bulgaria: Бързай бавно i.e. Go fast slowly.
Super Alina , I am excited to view your videos since I last hit one some fortnight ago and I am in constant liking these. Keep up the good tempo and love from India. Madhumita
That is an amazing video! Alina, you're so brave. I love traveling but would never have the guts to take a road trip by myself to such far-flung places. I had two scary experiences of falling asleep behind the wheel on the highway. One time was driving from Banff after sightseeing to Regina to visit my friend who is a professor at the U of Regina. The second time was driving from Atlantic City back home to New York City. I woke just in time and praise the Lord, it could be a total disaster in both incidents. That's the downside of traveling by driving alone over a long distance. Stay focus on the traffic and always keep your eyes on the road. If you are feeling sleepy, roll down the window, or just make a stop to rest. God bless you. Love.
Great video Alina. Hope they keep the Buzludzha building and restore as much of it as possible. It is quite unique. I understand why some people would like it to be removed, but history is history - good ot bad. I am so sad that we here in Bulgaria keep removing things from the comunist past of our country.
Alaina , Nice driving on those rough Bulgarian roads! I love traveling virtually. Saves money and jet lag and we can travel to so many more places together.
Hiya, lovely video! Congratulations you're brave girl to drive in a foreign country, I remembered how terrified I was to drive in Dorset,UK and on he other side of the road than Europeans would do. I enjoyed your choice to visit those unique places in such a deep relation to the Bulgarian history and past. Yes, Buzludza is going to be renovated, there are great mosaics inside and the roof will be changed to completely new one.Enjoy your stay...yep, good to have warm clothes and hat when you go high in the mauntains. Spasibo Alina, dorogaja, xx
Driving on the left side of the road in England coming from Europe is pretty easy, you can only get to the left side of the freeway when you arrive. The only problem I had was when I spent 4 weeks in the US, came back from the airport by taxi, and the next day I pulled to the wrong side of the road (right) when I left the driveway.
Hey Alina what an incredible video. This might be my favorite one. I give you so much credit for overcoming your anxiety about driving abroad. If it was on the other side of the road would you have done it? It's really cool seeing you driving. Both places have a very eerie feel to them. I like your reaction when you first pull up. Everything is very well done and the music fits so well
This is a fabulous video!!! I am so glad you accomplished your first solo road trip in abroad👏👏👏 But I was on the edge-of-my seat in some places during watching the video😰

u got me emotional im from Kazanlak.. thank u for coming here .. i hope u had a good time.
I really did! Thank you!
We went here the other day. Amazing place to experience. We hiked the 10K wood trail to the monument which I highly recommend if you have time!
Well done, Alina. An interesting place, thanks for sharing it. Take care and keep moving.
Marx and Engles were not German. They were jewish.
Hi Alina, you should have visited the Thracian tombs around Shipka and Kazanlak. This area is called "The Valley of the Thracian Kings". The tombs are great.
Been to Bulgaria for work several times - love the Shopski salad! Watching your videos will venture outside of Sophia! Great job!
Amazing. Thanks for sharing. A couple of things: Firstly: Well done for having the courage to make trip - personally I find these off the beaten track places far more interesting than the usual tourist destinations. Secondly- love your choice of music and images with this video- keep up teh good work!
Thank you very much!
Love your trips around Bulgaria, if you have time visit the „Danube Pearl“, Russe. It’s on the border with Romania. The architecture of the city reminds of Vienna. And around the city are also some historical places you should visit 😊
Hey Alina! I'm a russian citizen and I always watch your videos, I love you so much and I always love to support your channel! Keep up the great work, I actually think that your channel is so useful :)

Alina thank you so much for all the physical energy you put into this day and the historic background information. Both sound and video were sharp and clear. Looking forward to your next adventure. John. Everett, Washington
You are most welcome!
Great video content and nicely presented ! Thank you Alina!
Well done. Thanks for bringing attention to this peculiar relic. Hopefully, it can be preserved somehow.
Loving your videos! Thank you for showing around these wonderful countries in such great detail and respect! Especially countries that are rarely explored compared to others, like Bulgaria 😊
You are most welcome!
Alina, thanks for showing us, what most have not seen. Actually Bulgaria seems to be a beautiful country!
Madhumita
Thank you! Will do!
Love.
Nice one all the best for the next one stay safe.
So beautiful vlog. . . Beautiful Bulgaria. Nice country. Thank you very much for upload video. ..😃😄
Thank you so much! Yeah, I imagine driving on the opposite side of the road would be even more challenging!
I am so glad you accomplished your first solo road trip in abroad👏👏👏 But I was on the edge-of-my seat in some places during watching the video😰
haha thank you!
Great Videos Alina! Keep up the good work :)
I think you are a brave and wonderful woman, Alina. I hope your travels are safe and you keep us informed.
More and more I'm able to understand what you say in your videos, Alina. It has been really gratifying. As usual, excellent content.

Wonderful video, Alina, very informative, and good "production values." You are a natural tour guide! The drone shots are a great plus. I was particularly surprised at how lightly populated this area is. Things to see in the middle of nowhere.
Glad you enjoyed it!
