Personally, I prefer the first story ,because the ending was so shoking and touching, but the second one is honestly way better paced than the first one. But we can all agree that both story were incredibly well righten !
Agreed Spider-Man 1 final act was very good and felt thrilling at every moment but they aced the gameplay in the 2nd part I hope they focus on gameplay and story together equally in 3rd part if it happens
I believe that the gameplay of the second game has a better feel to it and the story has just one thing that is better and that’s that you never get bored, you have so many options for side missions and side stories with the flame and all of the other things, you also get a fresh start whenever you want by switching to miles instead of peter. At least that’s what i think.
I definitely agree that first story has very well pacing and the ending hit harder, however while the second game is a little messy at times and I wish certain plots got more time, it's still such an amazing next step in the universe and absolutely can't wait to see where the story goes from here !! Although i really enjoyed sm2 and i believe it improved on the original so much but imo the story in the first game is just perfect the slow transformation of doc oc and and everything peter went through coupled with masterfully crafted characters and presentation really puts the first games story a step above sm2. If we're talking about the gameplay of both games, the second game is a natural step up in almost every way and I'd say it's worth it especially if you don't own the others it is just a straight upgrade. The story on the other hand really tried to make itself much bigger than it should, the first story was pretty small scale in comparison but it is super tight and focused whereas the second game feels like it is way to big for it's runtime, it doesn't flesh out all the characters and villains but they are still super well written and is still an amazing story even if the first game is better
To this day I say that Marvels Spider-Man is my favorite Spider-Man story and is what got me back into the beloved hero. Don’t get me wrong I think this was one of the best adaptations of both Kraven and Venom, and the game is definitely A+ but Marvel’s Spider-Man is just a step above in terms of story, it is truly a love letter to the fans and SM2 is their encore, hopefully Spider-Man 3 is the Magnum Opus and swan song of this spectacular series, but only time will tell 🤟
I think the first storys pacing was a better and smoother story than the second one but the second story gives a brilliant story of how they wanted to tell the symbiot story line and they did fantastic even though the last act felt a bit rushed. What I like character is the way they introduce the chracters and tell give us an idea what these characters are doing in these universe. The biggest thing I like about these two games is the bond between Peter and Otto and Peter and Harry. This bond insomniac gives to the players at the start of the game makes us like them as friends, but when it comes to the end it is hard because all of this time and they are villain and having to fight them at the end could be really hard for the players. Thank you for this amazing Spiderman content, I will not stop watching. Keep it up.
I think the story itself was better in MSM1, but the gameplay in MSM2 cannot be beaten. The biggest problem I had in MSM2 is how the pacing felt off. Great story, but the third act felt too quick. Love both games so much tho.(congrats on almost reaching 10k Keenan!🥳)
For me, 1 has the best story. It’s beautifully written and has a great balance of humor, action and emotion. Miles Morales, although shorter, still had a good story and my personal favorite aesthetic. 2 had the best gameplay. The whole black suit and venom storyline seemed rushed, and, maybe it’s just me, but It seemed like the cutscene to gameplay ratio was a bit out of wack.
I liked the first ending because it just hits more harder with aunt May The second game had 1 problem when peter got the black suit he went bully mode in like 2 days if it got more time and was flushed out it would have been better But i still do enjoy it Also thanks for keeping the vid short
I think what I liked most about SM1s story was how much Spider-Mans life bled into Peter’s. If it wasn’t for Spider-Man Peter wouldn’t have lost his 3 (kinda 2) parental figures (May, Otto and Li) it really shows the player what it means to be Spider-Man and the slogan of the game perfectly encapsulates that “Be Greater”. But by no means was SM2s story bad or anything I thought it was nearly just as good, I really liked how they did Kraven (even if he was a lil kinky), I loved Li’s redemption because it helps develop Miles as a character too and my favourite part was Harry and Peter’s friendship. A lot of adaptations don’t really show how close of friends they are but SM2 does an amazing job showing how close they are. My only real complaints is that whereas in SM1 all the events basically occurred because of what Spider-Man or Peter did (Taking down Fisk and being late for the test making them lose funding) in SM2 the whole story only starts cause silly MJ had to go save Connor’s and that’s why Peter got stabbed and Harry lost the symbiote. Also I wish they developed Bully Lowenthal a bit more like how they made Otto gradually lose control that would’ve been good ( I feel like they needed something else between the Mj chase mission and the Kraven fight). But I think my biggest complaint in SM2 is the disregard of Miles like the Slogan is “Be Greater Together” but I just feel like Miles’ story doesn’t really connect that well to the plot especially his relationship with Harry. But yeah overall SM1 was like a 15/10 story wise and SM2 was 9/10. But holy flip the gameplay difference is unholy
I'm on my second run-through, taking my time in between plays. I enjoyed it immensely. The story to me had a great pace. The city is so alive, the acting is top tier. I do wish it didn't end so soon, but it leave you wanting more, which the 1st did for me
i think marvels spider man 1 has the best story. i have beaten it 7 times now and every time aunt mays death scene gets me sobbing. the acting is AMAZING. i truly can feel the pain in peters voice. i still havent gotten to play the second game for myself but ive watched it on youtube. when i do get a hold of it i will be back to give my opinion (im saving up for it rn)
TBH, I found the original to be better in terms of the story. It just overall felt better paced and way more impactful than SM2. However, SM2 is better with pretty much everything else like traversal and combat. To me though, just seemed like they rushed the Venom Arc, and nerfed Peter WAY TOO MUCH. I love Miles, but he had his own game to shine in, I hate seeing my boy Pete get knocked out in every major fight basically. Ending battle should've been just between Peter and Harry too, having Miles come in felt forced imo. Anyway, great vid brother keep it up!
I personally think that SM2 is better in every aspect. I just love everything that it improved. I still thoroughly enjoyed the story and just everything new. I understand the gripes that other people have with it, but I genuinely think it’s one of the best stories we’ve gotten in a long time. SM1 was great too, don’t get me wrong I owe a lot to it! It brought me a Peter Parker that was my age and was going through similar issues that I was. It’s just SM2 improved upon everything that I wanted and made me enjoy insomniacs universe even more.
I think sm1 villain is way better than the villains in sm2 which was doc ock. And I think sm1 had a way more emotional and impactful ending that took risks than sm2”s safe ending with no risks. But overall, I agree that sm2”s gameplay was much more refined and that Sm1 had the better story. Love your videos!!
I really love the traversal in Spiderman 2, but SM 1 just felt more real and grounded. The story felt like something that would actually happen, but in SM 2 the only arc I truly enjoyed was Kravens (and maybe Sandman's too). I also prefer the suit options in SM 1 but love how theres different variants in SM 2. I hope the create an almagation of the mechanics and story from both games for SM 3, but overall both were very enjoyable!
I think both stories are phenomenal, but just down to the pure emotional impact i'd just give the edge to the first game. Whilst the second games story was masterfully crafted by the devs and you feel the passion in every swing, as you mentioned it was slightly messy at times, and felt just a tad rushed. When i finished sm1 my immediate thoughts reminded me of my feelings after playing The Last Of Us Part 2. It left me with an emotional feeling, whereas the second game left me with more of a ''hell yeh, that was awesome feeling'' if you know what i mean? Both games are incredible in their own rights.
I feel the exact same way. The first Spider-Man game was a bit slower and really focused at developing the characters(as they should because these are all new version of them). While Spider-Man 2 which already developed most of their character traits really starts of extremely strong and fast with the sandman mission and continues that mentality though out both games. I really like both they are just a different ways to make a great game. For me though, I don’t think anything can beat the first Spider-Man game, just because of they excitement I felt knowing that once I get my hands in that game that it will be like nothing I’ve ever played before. The second game was absolutely amazing but I had already felt what it was like so then I was just really excited for the story. But whichever had come out first I’m sure I would put it ahead of the other one. And on that note, Keenan I’m so happy that you never gave up on this channel I had start watching 2 years ago when I couldn’t wait anymore for this game and I had no one to talk to about it until I found your channel. You were covering everything I wanted to know about Spiderman and I appreciate you for that. And congrats on 10k when you finally reach it!!
I feel like gameplay-wise, Sm 2 was better because of the symbiote abilities, although I do miss some gadgets from the first game(impact web, hologram bot things, etc). Both stories were great but I feel that some parts of sm 2 could have been done better, e.g. Miles should've been more involved in the story, MJ's Scream character could have been more important rather than just being there for one mission. Sm1 had such a good story with incredible villians and the same can be said for Sm2, but I did prefer the first games' boss fights with the double boss fights and the final doc ock fight. Insomniac kind of advertised the venom fight being in the city in one of the trailers which was a bit disappointing when that didn't happen but was still great. Overall, it's hard to decide which one is better, they are both masterpieces.

whole time i played SM2 i was locked in. put 100 hours into it before i actually platinumed bc i was just having fun. yeah there’s gimmicky stuff here and there that people hate on but in all honesty it’s a comic book character. SM2 GOTY imo just the story of the black suit and it evolving with pete was enough for me.

I agree that spider man 1 is better story wise especially because it is more emotional and well paced, not that spider man 2 isn’t but I just feel like spider man 1 has the edge. But spider man 2 is better with combat and definitely traversal in my opinion. Plus all the symbiote abilities for Peter and the upgraded better venom powers for Miles.
Hey Keenan! Great video as always. I personally see the two spiderman games in a similar fashion to the first two Ramey movies. The first release connected us with Peter, showing us Who spiderman is, why he is spiderman and more importantly, showing us who Peter is! The second release, just like the movies, adds to the initial story and relationships of the characters. Just like a 2nd release should!
Love both games, and the Miles game too. The first game’s story was very well written and beautiful to play. It’s still one of my favorite games. Personally, I think that the second game’s story was a little rushed. The Kraven story was great, but I wish they had more time in the game to establish more of the Venom storyline. And if it was made that way because of deadlines and wanting to get the game out quicker, it would have been worth it, to me, to just have to wait a while longer if needed to be. Don’t get me wrong, I love all the new traversal, combat, and side missions, but there’s just something about the first one that makes it so special to me. Plus I can’t wait for the new upgrades and ng+! Hope y’all’s New Year is amazing!!
Honestly loved most of the aspects of the game, it's not a 10/10 but is pure gold for us spiderman fans...especially cause it's FUN and pays good homage to different spiderman stories, even having a beautiful original story itself
Definitely! Spider-Man 2 game really outshines the first one in so many ways. The developers took the feedback from the first game to heart and made significant improvements. The web-slinging mechanics in Spider-Man 2 are far more advanced, making you feel like you're truly swinging through the streets of New York City. The combat system was also refined, making fights feel more fluid and dynamic. Plus, the storyline was deeper and more engaging, with a fantastic array of villains to face off against. Theres just my thoughts and i would love to have a collectors addition so i can gift it to my spider-man fan friend for his bday, Ur Amazing CBK have been following ur content since that first teaser for the game ❤️ 🕷
SM1 had a great story because it had an effective emotional scenes, SM2 could be greater if the characters could get a bit more screen time so that we could get emotionally attached to those characters, for example letting Harry be agent venom for some more time
i genuinely feel like the heartfelt grounded feel of the first game won’t be topped, not to discredit the work out into the second game, the first one felt like a more concisely told spider-man story with better payoff

Both are jaw dropping amazing but personally I prefer the story of the first. The first just had a larger emotional impact on me had we had more time to get attached to its characters, I cried many times for the first game. In terms of gameplay SM 2 takes the cake, but with story SM 1 was definitely peak, SM 2 just needed more time with characters to get us more attached to them. Keep up the amazing videos!
I love both the games both have phenomenal stories but i really liked how they handled the story in 2. The darker tone , symbiote relationship, how the handled kraven all were so good and the final mission was so good in 2 so for me sp2 is better overall
spider man 1 story is better cuz they had more time to write and they really cared more now that they proved themselves. they didint have to try as hard in sm 2 but it still holds up

Spiderman 1: has better enemy pacing as far as boss battles gos. Spiderman 2: has more community service side quests that help the characters grow. Think i prefer the first one for this alone. 🤔 Overall though they both good games. Spiderman one: has squirrels running around the city. Spiderman 2: has rats 🐀 Ya i prefer the squirrels for sure. The rats are just gross.
The only thing that I lowkey wanted was for insomniac to have the courage to make Kraven Venom instead of Harry . If that happened, the story down the line would of been perfect and it would of topped the first game
I agree with you Spider-Man 2 is better overall but the first game had a slightly better narrative and vibe to it. We definitely needed the game to be a little longer too to better flush out some characters arcs
The story of the first game is amazing, one of the best Spider-man stories I have ever seen. The start is incredible although a bit slow but after the death of Jefferson Davis the story is perfect, very well paced, spectacular writing and that final mission is indescribably perfect. The story of this game deserves a 9.8/10. The second game story starts even better than the first one, I couldn't stop smiling playing the first few hours of the game. When Peter gets the black suit, I started to feel that the story was beeing too fast (and Miles wasn't appering enough) but I was loving it anyway. Miles arc in the story is perfect, Peter's too and Harry was good. After the 2 best missions of the game (we all know which ones I'm talking about) the story just felt too rushed. All of the Venom storyline, motivation and behavior seemed fast. Besides the third act of the story, the second game was amazing, kraven is now one of my favourite villains and I like Mister Negative even more now. The story of this game deserves a 9.2/10 After all, I think most of the people agree with us, even though I loved the second game's story, it is almost impossible to top Marvel's Spider-man 1.
I think that the first story was more about being the friendly neighbourhood spider man and the second being about how he upgraded his job but both games are flawless

First one’s ending is peak spider man story while the second one’s perfect during first and second act for me. Ending moved me much too in second, but first one got me in my guts.
i feel like gameplay wise spider-man 2 tops most definitely with the swinging and the combat tho the abilities are great and cool and really make the combat better you never really need to use the environment like you did in the first game with throwing things at enemies. story wise it definitely goes to spider man 1 because it just felt satisfying and suspenseful when the sinister 6 came it was amazing and the ending was amazing!
Yeah, 100% agree that msm1 has a better story. For me though, they're both a 10/10, I didn't really have any of those moments like "it feels a bit rushed" or "i wish i had more time". They're both amazing.
I really wish they had added more stealth missions, the last hunt references, and some of the suits from miles morales and spider man ps4. What Spider-Man 1 and miles morales lacks Spider-Man 2 has and what spider-man 2 lacks, Spider-Man 1/ Miles Morales has.
Overall I think Spider-Man 2 is the better game, but Spider-Man 1 I think has the better story. SM2’s story had the possibility of being a lot better than SM1 especially that the main campaign was dealing with a lot more Spider-Man story lines that I prefer, but what we got still isn’t bad, it took me over 2 months to decide which game’s story I like more lol.
I think the first games story was told better and it was more well rounded, character arcs were better too. But I prefer sm2 because venom is my favourite marvel character and im being biased 😆 i also love the fact that they included/teased stuff relating to knull too. I feel like the original marvels Spider-Man story was more refined and mostly everything that was told was well done. I do feel that Spider-Man 2 rushes things at the third act. I would really love a directors cut version of the game so we can see everything that has been cut out and make venom more developed and just spend more time with him. Overall I did enjoy the Spider-Man 2 story however Spider-Man 1 has the superior story in my opinion

*Spoilers*In my opinion I agree with you and my reason for that is because in Spider-Man 2 it really shows you the relationship between Peter and Harry so when Harry becomes unconscious in the end it really makes you feel bad for Peter and Harry because Harry thought he was helping everyone and all Peter wanted was his friend back.But in Spider-Man I really love how Peter really looks up to Octavius and how betrayed he feels when Otto becomes a villain but he still has hope that Otto will realize what he's doing and stop but then it reveals that Otto was fully aware of what he was doing and even knew that he almost killed Peter and didn't have any intentions of stopping so by the end of the game Peter is hurt by betrayal and the loss of a loved one and still keeps going because he knows he has to, and on a side note that's probably why he couldn't take the symbiote off because he was emotionally suffering.
I prefer the first game's story, though both were great. Even Miles Morales was. I feel that if Spider-Man 2's story got an extra few hours or so, it could have even surpassed the first game's storytelling. That being said, even with those extra hours it would have been hard to surpass the first game's emotional stakes. Even though Venom is my favorite villain and marvel character in general, I feel they could have done more and even with him being Harry, he can't beat the first game's Doc Ock relationship with Peter. It felt less like we were trying to save Harry and more like we were fighting Venom with him knowing Pete's identity. Also some of his voice lines sounded a little weird with how Harry talks to Pete in Venom's voice. Still a spectacular game though!
i really believe that both games are masterpieces, like you can see that the devs clearly worked hard on both projects and their hard work paid off.I personally belive thats spider man 2 is more lively and more engaging....Like its, for me, much better than the prev. game and the devs knew what they were cookin, and the wait did pay off. I think Marvel Spider-Man 1 story more because it feels like it takes it's time to tell a story and doesn't rush anything it just makes sure it makes every story arc in the first game, in Marvel Spider-Men 2 the story feel like it taking it's time in the first half the pace was good and was taking it's time, but in the second half it starts rushing a bit I wish we had more story and more venom in the second half of the game, I really enjoy both stories, just more Marvel Spider-Man, can't wait till the next Marvel Spider-Man game
The first game was a solid story. We didn’t get the standard origin story which we’ve seen hundreds of times. But Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 just shows how powerful Peter actually is and hits on a more personal level, so I think number 2 has a better impacting story.
gameplay from msm2 was better but the story from msm was better personally i just think dock ock works way more as a villain for the game than venom/harry does in msm2
I think the gameplay of Marvel Spider-Man 2 is perfect, the story is amazing too but it seems like some parts in third act was cut or missing, the first game didn't had that feeling thats why i think the story in the first game was better. However, I think Spider-Man 2 is a great game and I'm sad that it didn't win any Game of the Year categories, Yuri Lowenthal really deserved it.
For MY personal opinion, I think that Spider-Man 2 is better than Spider-Man 1 EVEN story wise because theirs so much hidden details and messages in this story that can make people apprehend this story in a completely different way than others have….. For me the story of SM2 was more deep and impactful than the story of SM1. Even the third act was really great and I didn’t "feel" like there was not enough venom or emotional impact. This story is just "different" and I think people have to accept that and stop over hating.
I prefer Spider-Man 2’s story more but I really liked Doc Oct in the first, a lot more emotions with the death of may and the turn of peters mentor, but in Spider-Man 2 they build off it to make a great story, I do think the 3rd act was lacking tho

The first Spider-Man game was a amazing start and gave you the feeling that this is a unique spider man story and world both games are amazing but, I love what they did for the story and how every character felt fleshed out and like a S tear villain, when I was playing the game I was genuinely scared that they put to much into this game for a sequel that was a new feeling for me and this game will forever be in my top 5 games of all time sadly it didn’t win game of the year but I’m Shur they will top it next game. sm1's strory is definitely better but if sony gave insomniac more time i feel like the sm2 story could have been on par or only slightly worse because 90% of venom lines were cut which could've added to the story
The first game makes you cry, the second makes u feel sad in some moments(moments with Harry and may got me hard), I go for the first game until they make the third masterpiece I guess
Gameplay is vastly superior in the 2nd game, but the story overall is better with the first game for sure. It’s clear SM2 was rushed a bit in the story department which is unfortunate. Hopefully for the 3rd game they really flesh things out in a story longer than 15-20 hours.

I think Spider-Man 1 is better mainly due to Spider-Man 2’s flaws. Flaws being: -Story was too rushed needed more time to develop characters good and bad and the plot -Villains should be small scale not large -More time for Miles. Felt too much like a sidekick. Both games are amazing and I love them so much🕷️🕸️
Gameplay for spiderman 2 was amazing! And i loved the new bosses the only thing i would ads it more gadgets because stealth i kind of boring now 😕 i loved the gadgets from sm1. Also the final mision of spiderman 2 is alittle bit better there felt to be more emotion in it.

This is something thats been on my mind, and even tho it hurts to say, SM1 was better imo. I love SM2 but I feel like it lacks, I was one of the few who was on board with the short gametime, but then I changed my mind when i realized the game was coming to it's end and it just felt too soon
I think story wise spm1 is better and spm2 fall short just by a bit but like some other comments here the gameplay for spm2 clears spm1. As some ppl know Bryan intahar already admitted the final act of spm2 didn’t hit the quality bar they wanted to reach and it does show with some things being rushed but I feel like most ppl would still take spm2 over spm1.
As far as I’m concerned, both game are masterpieces, gameplay and storywise. At least the majority in these commentary are polite and does not insult the second game and for that I thank you all.
In my opinion, I think SM1 has a better story, you cannot top the death of Aunt May and in such conditions, her telling Peter she knew he was Spider-man, that got me crying like a baby in the end when Peter had to choose between saving her and the whole city. But SM2 has a good story too, it just felt rushed. But still an amazing game.
Gameplay wise, 2 absolutely dominates. Sadly the story doesn't hold a candle to the first. I felt truly invested in the first and no matter how many times I replay it, it always gets me. Sm 2 however felt like it was trying to run too many things in a row whole giving key aspects little time (black/symbiote suit, time spent with Harry, etc). Had they received more time to cook, we could've gotten what Jedi: Survivor is to Jedi: Fallen Order: A very successful sequel, narrative wise.
Love the video but I think that Spider-Man 1 overall had the better story but Spider-Man 2 had higher highs in my opinion the set pieces were all great the voice acting was top notch but I can’t help but feel the first game just barely wins because it’s story is much more rock solid and paced out perfectly
In my opinion I think the first one is a lot better and overall flows nicely. All the emotional bits hit hard and the Doc Ock & May death are still capable of bringing you to tears (for me too). For me Spider-Man 2's story felt very rushed and not very well thought out. To be brutally honest it has bad writing and bad pacing issues. There are great highlights but just not a good story imo. I don't know what happened with the writing at Insomniac but oh well. Obviously part of that blame is to Sony for rushing out this game. Overall I am hoping this series goes out with a bang with Spider-Man 3 and really take their time to top the first one's story. This is one of my all-time fav adaptations and SM2 really left me quite disappointed and not exactly the route I was hoping for. But I am willing to look pas that if the 3rd one is a banger. Looking forward to the future of this series!

Personally, I prefer the first story ,because the ending was so shoking and touching, but the second one is honestly way better paced than the first one. But we can all agree that both story were incredibly well righten !

I believe that the gameplay of the second game has a better feel to it and the story has just one thing that is better and that’s that you never get bored, you have so many options for side missions and side stories with the flame and all of the other things, you also get a fresh start whenever you want by switching to miles instead of peter. At least that’s what i think.
I definitely agree that first story has very well pacing and the ending hit harder, however while the second game is a little messy at times and I wish certain plots got more time, it's still such an amazing next step in the universe and absolutely can't wait to see where the story goes from here !! Although i really enjoyed sm2 and i believe it improved on the original so much but imo the story in the first game is just perfect the slow transformation of doc oc and and everything peter went through coupled with masterfully crafted characters and presentation really puts the first games story a step above sm2. If we're talking about the gameplay of both games, the second game is a natural step up in almost every way and I'd say it's worth it especially if you don't own the others it is just a straight upgrade. The story on the other hand really tried to make itself much bigger than it should, the first story was pretty small scale in comparison but it is super tight and focused whereas the second game feels like it is way to big for it's runtime, it doesn't flesh out all the characters and villains but they are still super well written and is still an amazing story even if the first game is better
To this day I say that Marvels Spider-Man is my favorite Spider-Man story and is what got me back into the beloved hero. Don’t get me wrong I think this was one of the best adaptations of both Kraven and Venom, and the game is definitely A+ but Marvel’s Spider-Man is just a step above in terms of story, it is truly a love letter to the fans and SM2 is their encore, hopefully Spider-Man 3 is the Magnum Opus and swan song of this spectacular series, but only time will tell 🤟
I think the first storys pacing was a better and smoother story than the second one but the second story gives a brilliant story of how they wanted to tell the symbiot story line and they did fantastic even though the last act felt a bit rushed. What I like character is the way they introduce the chracters and tell give us an idea what these characters are doing in these universe. The biggest thing I like about these two games is the bond between Peter and Otto and Peter and Harry. This bond insomniac gives to the players at the start of the game makes us like them as friends, but when it comes to the end it is hard because all of this time and they are villain and having to fight them at the end could be really hard for the players.

I think the story itself was better in MSM1, but the gameplay in MSM2 cannot be beaten. The biggest problem I had in MSM2 is how the pacing felt off. Great story, but the third act felt too quick. Love both games so much tho.(congrats on almost reaching 10k Keenan!🥳)
For me, 1 has the best story. It’s beautifully written and has a great balance of humor, action and emotion. Miles Morales, although shorter, still had a good story and my personal favorite aesthetic. 2 had the best gameplay. The whole black suit and venom storyline seemed rushed, and, maybe it’s just me, but It seemed like the cutscene to gameplay ratio was a bit out of wack.
I liked the first ending because it just hits more harder with aunt May The second game had 1 problem when peter got the black suit he went bully mode in like 2 days if it got more time and was flushed out it would have been better But i still do enjoy it Also thanks for keeping the vid short
I think what I liked most about SM1s story was how much Spider-Mans life bled into Peter’s. If it wasn’t for Spider-Man Peter wouldn’t have lost his 3 (kinda 2) parental figures (May, Otto and Li) it really shows the player what it means to be Spider-Man and the slogan of the game perfectly encapsulates that “Be Greater”. But by no means was SM2s story bad or anything I thought it was nearly just as good, I really liked how they did Kraven (even if he was a lil kinky), I loved Li’s redemption because it helps develop Miles as a character too and my favourite part was Harry and Peter’s friendship. A lot of adaptations don’t really show how close of friends they are but SM2 does an amazing job showing how close they are. My only real complaints is that whereas in SM1 all the events basically occurred because of what Spider-Man or Peter did (Taking down Fisk and being late for the test making them lose funding) in SM2 the whole story only starts cause silly MJ had to go save Connor’s and that’s why Peter got stabbed and Harry lost the symbiote. Also I wish they developed Bully Lowenthal a bit more like how they made Otto gradually lose control that would’ve been good ( I feel like they needed something else between the Mj chase mission and the Kraven fight). But I think my biggest complaint in SM2 is the disregard of Miles like the Slogan is “Be Greater Together” but I just feel like Miles’ story doesn’t really connect that well to the plot especially his relationship with Harry. But yeah overall SM1 was like a 15/10 story wise and SM2 was 9/10. But holy flip the gameplay difference is unholy
I'm on my second run-through, taking my time in between plays. I enjoyed it immensely. The story to me had a great pace. The city is so alive, the acting is top tier. I do wish it didn't end so soon, but it leave you wanting more, which the 1st did for me
i think marvels spider man 1 has the best story. i have beaten it 7 times now and every time aunt mays death scene gets me sobbing. the acting is AMAZING. i truly can feel the pain in peters voice. i still havent gotten to play the second game for myself but ive watched it on youtube. when i do get a hold of it i will be back to give my opinion (im saving up for it rn)
TBH, I found the original to be better in terms of the story. It just overall felt better paced and way more impactful than SM2. However, SM2 is better with pretty much everything else like traversal and combat. To me though, just seemed like they rushed the Venom Arc, and nerfed Peter WAY TOO MUCH. I love Miles, but he had his own game to shine in, I hate seeing my boy Pete get knocked out in every major fight basically. Ending battle should've been just between Peter and Harry too, having Miles come in felt forced imo. Anyway, great vid brother keep it up!
I personally think that SM2 is better in every aspect. I just love everything that it improved. I still thoroughly enjoyed the story and just everything new. I understand the gripes that other people have with it, but I genuinely think it’s one of the best stories we’ve gotten in a long time. SM1 was great too, don’t get me wrong I owe a lot to it! It brought me a Peter Parker that was my age and was going through similar issues that I was. It’s just SM2 improved upon everything that I wanted and made me enjoy insomniacs universe even more.

I think sm1 villain is way better than the villains in sm2 which was doc ock. And I think sm1 had a way more emotional and impactful ending that took risks than sm2”s safe ending with no risks. But overall, I agree that sm2”s gameplay was much more refined and that Sm1 had the better story. Love your videos!!
I really love the traversal in Spiderman 2, but SM 1 just felt more real and grounded. The story felt like something that would actually happen, but in SM 2 the only arc I truly enjoyed was Kravens (and maybe Sandman's too). I also prefer the suit options in SM 1 but love how theres different variants in SM 2. I hope the create an almagation of the mechanics and story from both games for SM 3, but overall both were very enjoyable!
I think both stories are phenomenal, but just down to the pure emotional impact i'd just give the edge to the first game. Whilst the second games story was masterfully crafted by the devs and you feel the passion in every swing, as you mentioned it was slightly messy at times, and felt just a tad rushed. When i finished sm1 my immediate thoughts reminded me of my feelings after playing The Last Of Us Part 2. It left me with an emotional feeling, whereas the second game left me with more of a ''hell yeh, that was awesome feeling'' if you know what i mean? Both games are incredible in their own rights.
I feel the exact same way. The first Spider-Man game was a bit slower and really focused at developing the characters(as they should because these are all new version of them). While Spider-Man 2 which already developed most of their character traits really starts of extremely strong and fast with the sandman mission and continues that mentality though out both games. I really like both they are just a different ways to make a great game. For me though, I don’t think anything can beat the first Spider-Man game, just because of they excitement I felt knowing that once I get my hands in that game that it will be like nothing I’ve ever played before. The second game was absolutely amazing but I had already felt what it was like so then I was just really excited for the story. But whichever had come out first I’m sure I would put it ahead of the other one. And on that note, Keenan I’m so happy that you never gave up on this channel I had start watching 2 years ago when I couldn’t wait anymore for this game and I had no one to talk to about it until I found your channel. I feel like gameplay-wise, Sm 2 was better because of the symbiote abilities, although I do miss some gadgets from the first game(impact web, hologram bot things, etc). Both stories were great but I feel that some parts of sm 2 could have been done better, e.g. Miles should've been more involved in the story, MJ's Scream character could have been more important rather than just being there for one mission. Sm1 had such a good story with incredible villians and the same can be said for Sm2, but I did prefer the first games' boss fights with the double boss fights and the final doc ock fight. Insomniac kind of advertised the venom fight being in the city in one of the trailers which was a bit disappointing when that didn't happen but was still great. Overall, it's hard to decide which one is better, they are both masterpieces.

whole time i played SM2 i was locked in. put 100 hours into it before i actually platinumed bc i was just having fun. yeah there’s gimmicky stuff here and there that people hate on but in all honesty it’s a comic book character. SM2 GOTY imo just the story of the black suit and it evolving with pete was enough for me.

But spider man 2 is better with combat and definitely traversal in my opinion. Plus all the symbiote abilities for Peter and the upgraded better venom powers for Miles.

Love both games, and the Miles game too. The first game’s story was very well written and beautiful to play. It’s still one of my favorite games. Personally, I think that the second game’s story was a little rushed. The Kraven story was great, but I wish they had more time in the game to establish more of the Venom storyline. And if it was made that way because of deadlines and wanting to get the game out quicker, it would have been worth it, to me, to just have to wait a while longer if needed to be. Don’t get me wrong, I love all the new traversal, combat, and side missions, but there’s just something about the first one that makes it so special to me. Honestly loved most of the aspects of the game, it's not a 10/10 but is pure gold for us spiderman fans...especially cause it's FUN and pays good homage to different spiderman stories, even having a beautiful original story itself
Definitely! Spider-Man 2 game really outshines the first one in so many ways. The developers took the feedback from the first game to heart and made significant improvements. The web-slinging mechanics in Spider-Man 2 are far more advanced, making you feel like you're truly swinging through the streets of New York City. The combat system was also refined, making fights feel more fluid and dynamic. Plus, the storyline was deeper and more engaging, with a fantastic array of villains to face off against. I think Marvel's spiderman, miles Morales, and Marvel's spiderman 2 all have amazing stories equally.

SM1 had a great story because it had an effective emotional scenes, SM2 could be greater if the characters could get a bit more screen time so that we could get emotionally attached to those characters, for example letting Harry be agent venom for some more time

Both are jaw dropping amazing but personally I prefer the story of the first. The first just had a larger emotional impact on me had we had more time to get attached to its characters, I cried many times for the first game. In terms of gameplay SM 2 takes the cake, but with story SM 1 was definitely peak, SM 2 just needed more time with characters to get us more attached to them. Keep up the amazing videos!
I love both the games both have phenomenal stories but i really liked how they handled the story in 2. The darker tone , symbiote relationship, how the handled kraven all were so good and the final mission was so good in 2 so for me sp2 is better overall
spider man 1 story is better cuz they had more time to write and they really cared more now that they proved themselves. they didint have to try as hard in sm 2 but it still holds up

The only thing that I lowkey wanted was for insomniac to have the courage to make Kraven Venom instead of Harry . If that happened, the story down the line would of been perfect and it would of topped the first game

The story of the first game is amazing, one of the best Spider-man stories I have ever seen. The start is incredible although a bit slow but after the death of Jefferson Davis the story is perfect, very well paced, spectacular writing and that final mission is indescribably perfect.

The second game story starts even better than the first one, I couldn't stop smiling playing the first few hours of the game. When Peter gets the black suit, I started to feel that the story was beeing too fast (and Miles wasn't appering enough) but I was loving it anyway. Miles arc in the story is perfect, Peter's too and Harry was good. After the 2 best missions of the game (we all know which ones I'm talking about) the story just felt too rushed. All of the Venom storyline, motivation and behavior seemed fast. Besides the third act of the story, the second game was amazing, kraven is now one of my favourite villains and I like Mister Negative even more now. The story of this game deserves a 9.2/10
After all, I think most of the people agree with us, even though I loved the second game's story, it is almost impossible to top Marvel's Spider-man 1.
I think that the first story was more about being the friendly neighbourhood spider man and the second being about how he upgraded his job but both games are flawless
I think the og was definitely more developed like you said, both Miles and 2 had those problems of being too fast to fully flesh out the characters

First one’s ending is peak spider man story while the second one’s perfect during first and second act for me. Ending moved me much too in second, but first one got me in my guts.
i feel like gameplay wise spider-man 2 tops most definitely with the swinging and the combat tho the abilities are great and cool and really make the combat better you never really need to use the environment like you did in the first game with throwing things at enemies. story wise it definitely goes to spider man 1 because it just felt satisfying and suspenseful when the sinister 6 came it was amazing and the ending was amazing!

I really wish they had added more stealth missions, the last hunt references, and some of the suits from miles morales and spider man ps4. What Spider-Man 1 and miles morales lacks Spider-Man 2 has and what spider-man 2 lacks, Spider-Man 1/ Miles Morales has.
Overall I think Spider-Man 2 is the better game, but Spider-Man 1 I think has the better story. SM2’s story had the possibility of being a lot better than SM1 especially that the main campaign was dealing with a lot more Spider-Man story lines that I prefer, but what we got still isn’t bad, it took me over 2 months to decide which game’s story I like more lol.

I think the first games story was told better and it was more well rounded, character arcs were better too. But I prefer sm2 because venom is my favourite marvel character and im being biased 😆 i also love the fact that they included/teased stuff relating to knull too. I feel like the original marvels Spider-Man story was more refined and mostly everything that was told was well done. I do feel that Spider-Man 2 rushes things at the third act. I would really love a directors cut version of the game so we can see everything that has been cut out and make venom more developed and just spend more time with him. *Spoilers*In my opinion I agree with you and my reason for that is because in Spider-Man 2 it really shows you the relationship between Peter and Harry so when Harry becomes unconscious in the end it really makes you feel bad for Peter and Harry because Harry thought he was helping everyone and all Peter wanted was his friend back.But in Spider-Man I really love how Peter really looks up to Octavius and how betrayed he feels when Otto becomes a villain but he still has hope that Otto will realize what he's doing and stop but then it reveals that Otto was fully aware of what he was doing and even knew that he almost killed Peter and didn't have any intentions of stopping so by the end of the game Peter is hurt by betrayal and the loss of a loved one and still keeps going because he knows he has to, and on a side note that's probably why he couldn't take the symbiote off because he was emotionally suffering.
I prefer the first game's story, though both were great. Even Miles Morales was. I feel that if Spider-Man 2's story got an extra few hours or so, it could have even surpassed the first game's storytelling. That being said, even with those extra hours it would have been hard to surpass the first game's emotional stakes. Even though Venom is my favorite villain and marvel character in general, I feel they could have done more and even with him being Harry, he can't beat the first game's Doc Ock relationship with Peter. It felt less like we were trying to save Harry and more like we were fighting Venom with him knowing Pete's identity. Also some of his voice lines sounded a little weird with how Harry talks to Pete in Venom's voice. Still a spectacular game though!
i really believe that both games are masterpieces, like you can see that the devs clearly worked hard on both projects and their hard work paid off.I personally belive thats spider man 2 is more lively and more engaging....Like its, for me, much better than the prev. game and the devs knew what they were cookin, and the wait did pay off. I think Marvel Spider-Man 1 story more because it feels like it takes it's time to tell a story and doesn't rush anything it just makes sure it makes every story arc in the first game, in Marvel Spider-Men 2 the story feel like it taking it's time in the first half the pace was good and was taking it's time, but in the second half it starts rushing a bit I wish we had more story and more venom in the second half of the game, I really enjoy both stories, just more Marvel Spider-Man, can't wait till the next Marvel Spider-Man game
The first game was a solid story. We didn’t get the standard origin story which we’ve seen hundreds of times.
But Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 just shows how powerful Peter actually is and hits on a more personal level, so I think number 2 has a better impacting story.

I think the gameplay of Marvel Spider-Man 2 is perfect, the story is amazing too but it seems like some parts in third act was cut or missing, the first game didn't had that feeling thats why i think the story in the first game was better. However, I think Spider-Man 2 is a great game and I'm sad that it didn't win any Game of the Year categories, Yuri Lowenthal really deserved it.
I agree. I think they both have their pros and cons, and they nail some things really good but SM1 just has a better story and pacing.
For MY personal opinion, I think that Spider-Man 2 is better than Spider-Man 1 EVEN story wise because theirs so much hidden details and messages in this story that can make people apprehend this story in a completely different way than others have….. For me the story of SM2 was more deep and impactful than the story of SM1. Even the third act was really great and I didn’t "feel" like there was not enough venom or emotional impact.
This story is just "different" and I think people have to accept that and stop over hating.

The first Spider-Man game was a amazing start and gave you the feeling that this is a unique spider man story and world both games are amazing but, I love what they did for the story and how every character felt fleshed out and like a S tear villain, when I was playing the game I was genuinely scared that they put to much into this game for a sequel that was a new feeling for me and this game will forever be in my top 5 games of all time sadly it didn’t win game of the year but I’m Shur they will top it next game. I think Spider-Man 1 is better mainly due to Spider-Man 2’s flaws. Flaws being:
-Story was too rushed needed more time to develop characters good and bad and the plot
-Villains should be small scale not large
-More time for Miles. Felt too much like a sidekick.

Gameplay for spiderman 2 was amazing! And i loved the new bosses the only thing i would ads it more gadgets because stealth i kind of boring now 😕 i loved the gadgets from sm1. Also the final mision of spiderman 2 is alittle bit better there felt to be more emotion in it.
Alr I am officially entering myself into your giveaway Kevin, I remember watching your videos even when the littlest information was out about this game jus grasping for any new news 😂, wasnt able to get my hands on the collections edition as it sold out before I was able to access my local GameStop, would mean the world to be picked!
This is something thats been on my mind, and even tho it hurts to say, SM1 was better imo. I love SM2 but I feel like it lacks, I was one of the few who was on board with the short gametime, but then I changed my mind when i realized the game was coming to it's end and it just felt too soon
The first game was so good because everything felt like they needed to be there and sm2 venom felt he corrupted New York for no reason
I think story wise spm1 is better and spm2 fall short just by a bit but like some other comments here the gameplay for spm2 clears spm1. As some ppl know Bryan intahar already admitted the final act of spm2 didn’t hit the quality bar they wanted to reach and it does show with some things being rushed but I feel like most ppl would still take spm2 over spm1.
As far as I’m concerned, both game are masterpieces, gameplay and storywise. At least the majority in these commentary are polite and does not insult the second game and for that I thank you all.
In my opinion, I think SM1 has a better story, you cannot top the death of Aunt May and in such conditions, her telling Peter she knew he was Spider-man, that got me crying like a baby in the end when Peter had to choose between saving her and the whole city.
But SM2 has a good story too, it just felt rushed. But still an amazing game.
Gameplay wise, 2 absolutely dominates. Sadly the story doesn't hold a candle to the first. I felt truly invested in the first and no matter how many times I replay it, it always gets me. Sm 2 however felt like it was trying to run too many things in a row whole giving key aspects little time (black/symbiote suit, time spent with Harry, etc). Had they received more time to cook, we could've gotten what Jedi: Survivor is to Jedi: Fallen Order: A very successful sequel, narrative wise.
Love the video but I think that Spider-Man 1 overall had the better story but Spider-Man 2 had higher highs in my opinion the set pieces were all great the voice acting was top notch but I can’t help but feel the first game just barely wins because it’s story is much more rock solid and paced out perfectly
In my opinion I think the first one is a lot better and overall flows nicely. All the emotional bits hit hard and the Doc Ock & May death are still capable of bringing you to tears (for me too). For me Spider-Man 2's story felt very rushed and not very well thought out. To be brutally honest it has bad writing and bad pacing issues. There are great highlights but just not a good story imo. I don't know what happened with the writing at Insomniac but oh well. Obviously part of that blame is to Sony for rushing out this game. Overall I am hoping this series goes out with a bang with Spider-Man 3 and really take their time to top the first one's story. This is one of my all-time fav adaptations and SM2 really left me quite disappointed and not exactly the route I was hoping for. But I am willing to look pas that if the 3rd one is a banger. Looking forward to the future of this series!
I loved SM2 so much so this is tough, but I’m going with the first one b/c it was more of a solo story and I’ve played through it too many times to count 😂
