That's the fat PS3 (arguably the best one). Fat PS3s can play PS2 games while the slim ones can't. You have a good one, just make sure to take care of it (they're prone to overheating, much like the original Xbox 360.)
Not all Fat PS3's can play PS2 games, but this one for sure can since it has the media card readers. I purchased mine is mid-2006, it doesn't have the card readers nor does it play PS2 games
my slim ps3 plays psp,ps1,ps2 and ps3 games lol all's I do it download game out on ps3 boom all sorted. but my ps3 isn't normal its jailbroken.

Congrats man! That's definitely a launch ps3. Those are the best because you can play ps1, ps2, and ps3 games. Also those controllers are so light because when the ps3 launched the controllers had no rumble feature. I really hope it works!

With this one you can. It’s the original launch day fat ps3. It actually has ps2 hardware in it so it’s 100% backwards compatible not like the later ones with software emulation.

Bro, that fat PS3 is the very first model with backwards compatibility man! And with the SD card slot. The later models don’t have that. However, it only has either a 20 or 40gb hard drive installed in it. Also, those controllers are the original Sixaxis controllers that were super light that came with the system at launch.

A couple weeks ago I found $230 cash on the side of a highway. I always bike on one specific road to find stuff. I was biking on that road to go to a friends, and I looked over a guard rail and saw a dollar. I stopped and grabbed it, looked up, and there was a bunch of 20's, a 50, and a bunch of 1's. Best day ever. Up to date, I've found an iPad 3, iPhone 4, two wallets, and $230 cash on this one road.

Speedy before u hook up the ps3 u need to change the setting of av cable to HDMI. First hook it up with the av cables. Then if it works go to settings, display settings, and Change the cord to HDMI. Then the screen will go off. Make sure u have the HDMI in to the ps3. Then go changed ur TV to HDMI and boom it will be on the screen. Click yes a and u all set. Hope I help u. Love ur videos. My friend found a N64 and original Xbox one night dumpster diving at Game Stop. He had to buy some controllers for it . He also found a golden buddha statue behind a Kung Fu Dojo with a broken pair of Namchuks and a Plasma Screen TV.

My brother and I found a Nintendo 64, 2 controllers and 7 games for it and it works!! We found it a couple days ago. We also found an Xbox 360 rock candy controller in the same dive and it works too!

We used to have that same PS3 model type; could play older discs from previous gens, and my brother put Linux on it back in the day :) ...before it burned out and we got a slim one.

That PS3, if it works is backwards comparable, meaning it can play ps2 games also.... we have been looking for one for years! We had a coworker give us a broken one we tried to fix up, but it was beyond repair sadly. Congrats on the find!!!

The PS3 you found is one of the older models. I have the same one and it is Backwards Compatible and allows you to play PS1, PS2, and PS3 games.

Dude, a freaking 60Gb PS3!! That's the best find ever! Also the first generation SIXAXIS controllers were indeed see through, and they're super light because thay had no vibration motors inside! All of these came a little later with the Dualshock 3 :D

At least now you'll have a way to test out all those PS3 games you found during your prior dives. Your reaction to finding it is priceless. AAAAAAHHH! The slots under the hidden compartment are basically multi-card readers btw. Certain cards can be inserted into the slots for extra data storage. It should still be fairly easy to find the types of cards that fit into those slots. Might have to look around on ebay or amazon for them, but they're around.
Also, OMG!!!! You found the manual to the NES Advantage controller!!!!! That is a hell of a find! I'd so love to get that from you if you don't plan on keeping it! I still have my NES Advantage too! If you're not planning on holding onto the NES Advantage manual, drop me a quick note! I'd be happy to take it off your hands.

Hey be careful this is the 1 gen it is very fragile and don't leave it running it will over heat fast but on that gen you can play PS2 games on it. Like so he can see.

its about time you got a PS3! By the looks of it that is either the 20 GB or 60 GB Fat PS3 with 100% full backwards compatibility with PS1 and PS2 games.
If you havent figured it out yet, those aren't knock offs. Sony was dealing witha lawsuit at the ps3 launch and the dual shock 3 wasn't released. Instead those are just sixaxis controllers. They don't have a vibration motor in them. But finally the lawsuit ended and they did release the dual shock 3 with the vibration motors, but the plain sixaxis ones are really cool. I would really like to have one since I love to play my ps3, but my controller stopped working 😥

That looks like one of the early model PS3s (and why it's so big) - might be a backwards compatible one with PS2 (which are worth a bit more then the other ones if it works).
