Here’s my resin video. All the links are in the description. I can’t put links in the short videos anymore but I keep a current list on my website. I’ll admit to you.. I bought a silicone mat years ago. I had a terrible problem of keeping it clean from dust and stuff. Jessica.. I think I didn’t try it out of pure laziness. I couldn’t just give it a quick shake as everything was stocking. I should try it again. Shame on me. I think I’m locked in on this way now but that doesn’t mean I won’t give it a shot.
@@JaDeLRocks I tried a silicone mat meant for baking. It has little pyramids to raise up whatever you're roasting. I thought the rocks and resin wouldn't and couldn't stick to it. I was wrong wrong wrong! Also, and I'm using a logical guess here, I think placing the rocks on any flat surface, whether they would stick or not, would cause the resin to squish to the edges and create a thick(ish) and uneven rim/ridge on the bottom. Unsightly to the eye and undesirable to the touch. Your method of using toothpicks and my husband's advice about the Vaseline seems to be the magic we need for smooth and attractive rocks. And, no, girl, YOU rock. Now, why on earth can't I find my heart emoji! Imagine a heart, then. Lol
I saw a video recently where someone applied mod podge and the resin didn’t stick to the bottom of the piece and the mod pudge pealed off. It was on a resin tray. I wonder if that would work with a stone 🤔
Hmmmm I don’t know? I have applied mod podge to a stone before and then resin… it worked well. I actually recommend using mod podge over red and white paint. Cheaper brands will run when I add resin. So if you add mod podge first it keeps that red out of the white. Gosh I hope that made sense. Here’s the video I did that in…. ua-cam.com/video/PpwXuD8JLnY/v-deo.htmlsi=IBNbXCn_woqF7CKa
Did anyone suggest laying them flat on wax paper, and file any edges from overspill? It'll make the bottom matte like the true rock, it might be a cool look!
I've seen people lay them on silicone mats. If you're really lucky there's no lip but if there is you just sand it down and go again. It's been a long time ago but I'm almost certain Rachel from Rachel Rocks Canada does it this way. Her Resin job is gorgeous and she knows her stuff. Look up Rocking the Resin? She's got a couple of awesome videos on it.
@@artattack8080 you’ve totally got this 💪🏻 Just be exact on measurements and don’t over resin. Also… if you have a torch like art resin sells it’s far better than blowing in straws for bubbles. You can do it. Good luck.. 🤞🏻
Such a great idea and beautiful designs!!!!
Thank you! 😊
Looks really good
It works so well… I’m definitely thrilled with the results
What gloves do you use?
Great tips!! Thanks!

Great!!! This is just the tip i have been looking for!!
I know, right? so simple. I used this method on my Christmas rock too.. at the end I show the back and it’s just wonderful ♥️
Thank you!!!!!!!🎉🎉🎉
♥️♥️♥️♥️
Super interesting! I'm one of the silicone mat lovers, but I also use parchment paper sometimes and that works too!

Why not try covering the silicone covers in petroleum?
I don’t know… now you’ve got me wondering that too 🤔 next time
I resin a batch you’ve got to know I’m trying it.
I don't know how to resin but I have never seen anyone use gloved hands to spread the resin. That is interesting.
I think this is normal for rock painters.. LOL, but I’m not sure 🤔
@@JaDeLRocksI couldn’t imagine not using gloves with resin when covering rock 😀
@@IMO0712 me too. There’s another side to every pancake isn’t there. ♥️
How long does it take to dry?😮
I always let mine dry for at least 24 hours.
Here’s a full tutorial on how I resin. Now.. I’m adding Vaseline to the toothpicks. It hasn’t failed yet.
@@JaDeLRocks thank you for getting back to me so quick. This is the first time I’m using art resin.
