I am not being hindered by nationalistic or chauvinist reasoning to give my opinion, as I am not Malaysian, I just happen to live there (and love it) and since I am flying in and out of Malaysia mostly for work in the Asian region, I also happen to be Enrich Platinum member for the last 5 over years. So I’d reckon I am entitled to the opinion on MAS and their services. Quite frnakly, they are mediocre at best, but most of the times I find myself cringing on them, as they again fail to deliver the service you pay for. Be it pre-flight at the Platinum lounge (called Golden Lounge at the entrance, hmmm…), where food is way below par for first class / platinum, be it at gate security check in, where they do not have any priority queue for Platinum or First class passengers, or when sitting down and they again forget to welcome you on board, which they are supposed to do when they meet Platinum Enrich passengers. But mostly when again the seat is not clean, not comfortable (try stretching your full body at first or business class when you’re 1.89m tall, won’t happen) or the entertainment (flight radar) is not working again. And what really amazes me, is that in a country where the netizens take so much pride in their food culture (and they should, Malaysian cuisine is just fabulous and delicious), they seem to like the onboard catering. It is horrible, really, the food never ceases to disgust me, how bad it is. Yet, the chauvinist Malaysian will say it is so good…. I am being a bit harsh here, but it is really a sub par airline, MAS.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts! I totally get where you’re coming from, especially as a frequent flyer with MAS. My experience was pretty good, but I can see how the issues you mentioned could be frustrating if you fly with them a lot. I don’t have any national ties to Malaysia either, so my opinion wasn’t influenced by that - just my honest experience. Maybe I just caught them on a good day. Hopefully, your next flight is better and they step up their game 👏👏

Of course they have their good moments and the staff is usually caring and goes the extra mile where they can, but the company is being mismanaged (not uncommon in Malaysia) to the bone. I have choice, as I could choose to use Singapore airlines and just hop over to Singapore and connect to anywhere from there, I have done that for a while, but it became tiring, adding an extra flight and costs to my regular traveling. Next flight is next week, just came back beginning of this week. Let’s see, the world is still full of miracles. :-)))
Absolutely, low indeed! Wasn't expecting much but this is a much better experience than my other flights with them. In fact, with some other airlines even.
Food looks just as in economy they need to get their act together I fly twice a month between Perth.and KL service is good foof is terrible no kit often no toothbrush on plane depends on on time of flight if u go during the day u r on the narrow body with no entertainment unless you use your own phone absolute dreadful 5.5 hour flight
I honestly went in with no expectations so I actually didn't mind it at all and thought it was pretty impressive. From what you're saying then I was pretty lucky to have picked a better time to fly 👏👏
