I have the lagoon 1 it's the best boat AE ever made period.. Its designed for fun. You can take this boat on the ocean and have an absolute blast with i coming off the top of waves or cutting through some light chop. It turns beautifully and thanks to the dual main Chambers its safe for sea use. I love the foam floor and would not change it. You have to think if this Kayak as being like you are part of it. It fits like a glove and the seating height is perfect. If you have the spray skirt on it's really easy to upright after inverting. I have the AE expedition also which is great for a 20k beat but more often than not its my little friend the lagoon 1 I grab because 3 minutes flat and ita ready to use. It packs small and weighs nothing at all. You can strap a 10 litre dry bag to the deck but why would you? This boat is made for fun. Wetsuit and pad on small flask of coffee in the net storage and away you go for 3 or 4 hours.
I just picked up the Scamper 1. For 85 dollars used but really good condition and was amazed at the craftmanship on the craft. I mean I have an Intex K 2. Pretty good but material wise. The Scamper 1.. has a world of difference in ruggedness and strength. The barnacles suddenly not as scary anymore. Thanks again for your input before it really helped me make my decision to buy it I can't possibly be happier with this great product 🙂👍
I have this kayak Mr. D and I love it! I'm 5'3" and it fits me well. At only 23 pounds, I can lift and carry it no problem. The seat is so comfy for my bad back. Fully inflated, it fits inside my car too. I also have the pack lite 4-piece paddle, which works well with this boat. Great review!
Great review Dale. So I took your tracking concerns to heart and purchased an AE1012 “Backbone” and shortened it to fit the Lagoon 1. It now has a proper keel from skeg to landing plate. Should track much better and we’ll try it late Spring up here in Canada. Cheers and keep up the great work. 😊 Unfortunately cannot post pics here.
tracking also an issue ive had plastic kayaks that yaw and twrill all the way around 360 degrees when you stop paddle correcting, yet my 12ft poke boat tracks straight as an arrow which ever direction it was moveing on the last stroke phoenix got the seat/weight position in a sweet spot

I am very disappointed! I've inflated my kayak in the right order and it barley moves. Pulls right and left, but not forward. I weight 140 5"4. How long can the paddle be?
i build composite kayaks, any short lite weight boat will yaw when paddleing, also a very lite boat does not carry forward speed like a heavy boat, thus requireing constant paddleing, like paddleing a potatoe chip, stop paddleing you stop moveing, you will have a stroke trying to catch a plastic auqua terra if paddleing a composite phoenix poke boat😂

the advantage of a very lite kayak? easy to carry and load on your vehical, use your gear to add weight for better performance
In case this helps anyone, I am 5’5”, 235 lb woman. This Lagoon was a bit too snug around the hips for someone my size. Very responsive, though.
Have you tried the Advanced Elements, AdvancedFrame, Ultralite? 10.5 long, 17.5 pounds.....
How tall are you?... I’m 6 foot... Would this size be ok?
