Bro, what you just said at the start, is the essence which is my opinion has been lost somewhat over the last 20 years. Coming from a fishing family (my father once had the record for the biggest marlin in NZ back in the 70's) I always get grief from my own whanau about my old boat or my lack of gadgets. Really humourous, as I can go out with a mate to my same old spots which hardly anyone fishes, and get pretty consistent hauls of snapper, kahawai, cod and maybe a kingi for the oven, and all the other family boats come in with only a few fish. Each to their own, but having a few beers with mates while keeping the freezer stocked for the whanau, is what its all about for me
