This was a unique combination of Capcoms iconic characters. this was totally different from Capcom.
This game is a nightmare in style clashing more than CvS2 ever was 😢 Its like they saw MUGEN and wanted a piece of that action.
Still like it better than modern SF artstyle
SFA3 MAX played at the same screen size as the PSP screen is still the most beautiful Street Fighter game ever imo. I actually used to think the backgrounds were ugly, but that was because for a long time I mained the Dreamcast version and didn't realize how washed out everything was in that version.@@aegisreflector1239

My childhood
The concept of of Fighting Evolution is sound, it's a pity that the budget was so low.
Yes, the concept is amazing. Putting all of the characters in one game, but they didn't have the budget to pull it off. Then they transitioned to 3D and we never saw a proper vision of this concept.
I've found a sealed copy of this game in my old gaming Box. So I'm here because I'm definitely not opening it still. I'm going to have to get the emulator

Look at all the characters in the background, and you start to wonder why they aren't animated ... and why none of them are playable in this particular game ??
Not a bad game still would be glad to play this way more then Street Fighter V and VI that's for sure.

@@Lee313FGC V was rough at launch it's way better now , but personally I don't like ALOT of the ugly character design designs and roster picks in those games, as well as the more slower feel of the buttons.

It was made on a low budget, and the characters were literally recycled from other games.
Does capcom fighting evolution have PS2 graphics
Putting all of the characters in the background that I'm not able to play is so cringe.
This is what is wrong with the game.
- It lacks the full roster of the characters from those franchisees.
- It lacks any kind of "coolness" factor
- It lacks good background music
- It lacks good backgrounds and environments
It could have been a great game, but they didn't include many of the characters that should have been in the game.
i wish there was a way to smooth the 2d...
I actually love the crunchy graphics
You can enable filtering on the emulator settings i think. Although the actual game does not look like this video, xtimeless uses sharpening filter on his videos that gives them a white halo around every line thats why it looks so extra crunchy on this video.

Unlock/Fight Shin Akuma
To fight Shin Akuma in Arcade mode, beat the game with the following:
-Win every round, including Pyron stage
-2-3 Perfects finish
-At least 1 super combo finish out of the 2 rounds
-Need to fight Ingrid
Difficulty doesnt matter, set to 1 star for easiest, Shin Akuma will challenge after you defeat Pryon. Defeating Shin Akuma unlocks him as a playable character and his stage. Using him to defeat Pyron subsequently will unlock his BGM from SSF2T (Credits to GameFaqs)
