Mark Bagley was one of the first artist I become "aware" of. I wasn't really aware that comics were made by people yet, but I knew there was this one style of artwork that I liked more than the others. His Spider-Man always comes to mind when I think about what Spider-Man looks like.
I really hope they follow this with another Omnibus that ends with the Gathering of Five saga. We have a lot of uncollected stories there!

This is why I love this channel. I stopped reading comics midway through the 90s and was going to pass on this omnibus since I didn't know much about it. But after watching your video and realizing this marks the end of the clone saga its now a must buy for me. Sadly only found Clone saga vol 1 and this one at a price I'm willing to pay since I refuse to pay over 5-10% cover price for a OOP but I can wait for them to get reprinted.
Also wanted to thank you too Omar as I got the second volume of JMS but missed out on the first. But I watched your video of the review of JMS vol one and saw that the best of spider-man vol 1-4 is the same thing but with extra issues thrown in. So after seeing that video I was able to grab the best of spider-man vol 1-4 for $66.49 total price which is about what JMS vol 1 was going for when it was first release I believe. So very happy to grab that for my collection. Again thanks for everything you do for this channel and keep those videos coming.
I’ve been waiting for this since the last volume came out! This is the era I grew up with so I have a lot of nostalgia with these story’s. 🕷

I’m picking this up to complete the train wreck set know as the clone saga. Well volume 1 is really good but this is the life of the collector. I say this with love of course. 😀
Additionally Gathering of Five/Final Chapter TPB. It is true final to all Clone Saga stuff. I really hoped that May Parker JR would come back and not old one.
I want another Omni to follow this one and close with Gathering of Five

Looking forward to finally reading this. Didn't read it as it was coming out. So interested in seeing if it deserves the bad reputation it has.
I have a soft spot for Clone Saga and all the Ben Reilly stuff for some odd reason lol. Yes it went on way too long but I enjoyed seeing different side characters with Ben vs Peter, and Revelations is one of my favorite spidey stories. Can’t afford the omni right now but man I’m so glad Revelations gets some oversized love. The Ben and Peter brotherhood was so wholesome then all that stuff goes down.. I remember I had a couple of wet pages reading it in singles lol.

I never gave him a chance because I HATE clones. Why do you love him? Maybe I'll give the story a try.
I personally prefer him as Scarlet Spider.
I picked up this and luckily got a copy of Absolute Carnage with my last book order. I'm pretty happy that the saga is finally out in its entirety, because it was looking a bit dodgy for a few years as to if it would all come out. And I would love it if we got a Spider-Girl omnibus or two in the future - that series definitely fits well as an alternate reality follow up to this era of the comics.

I picked up this and Clone Saga Vol 1 omnibus recently on IST. Hopefully one day they reprint Clone Saga Vol 2 and Ben Reilly vol 1 omnibus, cause I’m not about those secondary market prices. Love the 90s art style, and look forward to reading the whole story one day

Good to hear. At IKEA we were debating which color to get. But then we found out that the desks were all practically out of stock, so wood it was!

Commenting at the beginning, Been waiting for this video, just ordered mine off IST since ToW has been troublesome with my PO’s.
ToW is owned by the same company that runs IST.
trigganosis81 I know, but my card declined twice cause they don’t tell you when you’re going to charge you if you don’t use PayPal. I had some bills to take care of and my card went under before I could do anything about it so id rather just cancel my po from ToW.

Lewis Hutchison you’d think they’d set aside a copy when you PO until you cancel... and they take so long to respond back that you May as well never have PO’d the book. I’m not the only to have this problem unfortunately.

Great overview, as always
The part where I disagree with your overview is you make it sound like this (clone saga) is all one huge story, when the reality is that was just an era. The clone saga was "finished" a couple of times. By the time we get to the contents of this omnibus, it's not like they decided to "end" the story, since it was done. What they decided to do was to roll back the changes they had made. Reopening the case and finishing with yet another ending.
Probably Marvel would like us to think of this as one huge arc, but as one arc, it sucks really badly. I prefer to see it for what it really was, including the behind the scenes editorial drama. It makes the worst parts of it feel a little less ridiculous to me.
Personally, this is the era where I was buying each issue, starting with the dark and silent Spidey... I hated it at the time and preferred reading back issues from the Larsen and McFarlane eras, but now I see it as a guilty pleasure our of nostalgia.
I'm still waiting for stores to restock Volume 1 so I can buy them both together.

I still maintained Spider-Man clone saga could’ve worked if the marketing team didn’t take over the story and messed everything up badly. However I will give the clone saga this though it was a interesting story and personally I liked Ben riely Spider-Man he was really awesome and heavily underrated in my opinion.

I think Night Watch is due for a Superior Foes-esque revival.

Hey Omar I have a question I got some new books the other day and had to move some omnis around I noticed the pages seemed to have moved down toward the bottom of the board on one of my bigger omnis so now if it stand the pages touch the surface it's stood on is that normal or not

So I actually got the first clone saga omni. Even by the end of that one, i already had enough of that story. I cant even imagine trying to read 3 more volumes if this never ending story. Lol
Hey Omar, thanks for this overview. I have all the Clone Saga and Ben Reilly stuff in trades, except for The Complete Ben Reilly Epic Book 5 which has been out of print for ages. Do you have any idea if Marvel is going to reprint that one in the near future? Or am I going to buy this heavy tome to have everything complete? (Which would be a shame since I have part of this run in Dutch as well.)

I read the Clone Saga when it was originally published. I bought every single issue and all the peripheral issues and one shots. I still have all the issues and organized them chronologically. Having said that, the clone saga was the most frustrating, convoluted mess ever in comics history. Even so, I had to stick with it until the end. Like a car crash, I couldn’t turn away. Not that it was good but I had so much invested in it I had to find out how it ended. I have the original issues. That’s good enough for me. I won’t be getting the omnis.
Yeah I really want them to reprint marvel omnibus scarlet Spider-Man but I’ve just got this volume 2 of Spider-Man Ben Reilly and is fantastic to read!

Whenever i try to buy a new omnibus on instocktrades they email me weeks later they are out of stock. I would like to add i buy them fairly soon after they update there site for new releases.
I've had a similar problem which is unfortunate but so far I've just been substituting some other item of a similar price.
I honestly don't understand the amount of loyalty IST gets since as far as I can tell, they customer service is not awesome. E.g. they always say you have to be patient, but IMO, if patience is a requirement, then you are not providing a great service. The prices are great, the best, actually. But I would prefer to have a guarantee that my books will be delivered in a reasonable time.
Amazon might suck at packaging, but my books arrive the next day and if I have an issue, they send me a new one, or do whatever it takes until I say I'm happy.
@@marcelo-ramos Omnidog best explained the situation with IST. Basically with the pandemic occurring it really put alot of pressure on them with tons of back orders. Not to mentioned they are currently short staffed. They in a way explain on their site that the mailing system is slow right now as well. Its a lot of factors to the companies current state. Omnidog even said himself that he has book shipments he's been waiting on for over a month now. Ive been waiting 3 weeks for a book to process and i got a notice today for shipment. Yeah it sucks that customers are waiting so long but at the same time the discounts they provide on products are well worth it
@@YJSho_Nuff_ what really made me mad is I ordered the wolverine dm varient omnibus right when the site updated and I waited over a week to find out they were sold out. I would have taken the regular cover omnibus but by the time they told me the varient sold out all the wolverine omnibus sold out. That's happened a few times for me. :(
@@erikw3128 man that sucks. This is my first order ive made with IST. I hope to do business with them in the future, but not too often. Yes IST is great for cheap novels, but yeah the delays can be a pain for a collector. I agree with getting purchases through either Amazon or Ebay. Yeah you pay abit more, but atleast you get your items in a timely fashion.
I missed the first Ben Reilly omnibus and I can't believe it's already OOP. The other clone saga omnibu are not OOP. Just curious why that is? I would purchase this one if I knew they were going to reprint Vol. 1.

Even though it's called Ben Reilly Volume 2, it's basically Clone Saga volume 4. While you don't need to read the previous omnis, this probably spoils them. This is also the "finale" if the saga so it may not have the same impact if you didn't read the rest.
i still got stuff waiting to be shipped from IST while CGN ships stuff pretty quickly and they email you back on inquiries.

in case you havent noticed it, in spider man issue 75, much of the art is cropped out in above edge. please compare and shere with everyone because it is an unacceptable mistake.
I have a strong prejudice against this Spider-man and Marvel era but I'm not gonna lie, most of the comics in this book look actually entertaining and of good quality.

There's a reprint of ASM by Stan Lee vol 2, Spider-Man by Roger Stern, and Untold tales of Spider-Man but we don't know what brand new omnibuses are coming

Do not make pre-orders from Tales of Wonder! Even though they ship the books to the same warehouse as Instocktrades in Memphis and the same people handle customer service, they will prioritize IST orders over the ToW pre-orders because IST charges a higher price. IST/ToW cancelled my pre-orders for both this, the Batman by Paul Dini omnibus, and the Black Hammer Library Vol 2.
Not only do they cancel the pre-order, they wait weeks to tell you so the books are sold out everywhere. They are scum!
This is horrible. I am so sorry this happened to you. I really hope DC lives up to their word and restocks those books they had little stock on early this month.
The Ben Reilly costume was designed by Bagley, not by Jurgens

@@NearMintCondition No the hoodie Scarlet Spider costume was designed by Lyle. The Spider-man Ben Reilly one was designed by Bagley, with the first appearence in Sensational 0 by Jurgens, but in that issue it is specified that the costume was designed by Bagley.
