Part 2: • Special Ed on 2 Friend...
Part 4: • Special Ed on Signing ...
    --------
Special Ed revealed details of his early years in the hip-hop scene and his influences. He mentioned attending school with Busta Rhymes and revealed Rhymes was not rapping back then. Vlad asked him what inspired him to not just be a hip-hop fan but to engage with the craft himself. Special Ed accredited it to seeing other local musicians make music. Ed recounted how he got his moniker, Special Ed from his friend Eric Green, due to his energetic demeanor. He revealed he accepted the name because he wanted to have a positive impact on how people perceive its meaning, considering that 'Special Ed' generally refers to special needs education. He shared his experience of being placed in a differentiated learning program, not for special needs but due to his behavior and outspokenness, which he believed was common for many misunderstood kids of his generation.

I was in special Ed classes and was joked and laughed at. It was tough cause I simply learned different from others. And I'm way more intelligent and successful than those same people that laughed and joked. Shouts out to all special ed people. Albert Einstein was labeled special ed or LD.... ❤🙂💯

Ed is 100% correct in that they just threw kids in special ed if they didnt know what to do with them, especially in the hood in 70s, 80s and early 90s. Nowadays, its called ADHD and stuff like that but back then, if you didnt pay attention or was disruptive, they tried to throw you in special ed. They tried to do that to one of my nephews like late 90s and we fought it. It was more behavior and paying attention than mental slowness

Right on, in my school we had a whole separate set of classrooms in the basement (kinda cruel lol) specifically for kids who couldn’t handle normal classes, which if you think about it that’s still technically a “special education”.
And yeah it was *completely separate* from the mentally/physically disabled students classrooms

The thing about having a learning disability it can be used as an advantage. Labels make some people feel that a learning disability and other disabilities always means youre 100% slow. When in reality you can have a learning disability and still excel in areas of life that others without a learning disability may lack. Humans being in general all have defects and lack in areas that other dont. And sometimes just having a good outlook on life and being optimistic is a blessing no matter what your handicaps are. Because there are also people who dont have certain handicaps but hate life, while someone who does understands the blessings of living. Alot of Humans being can be selfish or want to be superior to others but when they finally meet their match and reality hits them wisdom tells them no one is perfect, and a perfect life would not be worth living.

Facts, In high school I ask my teachers what do I have to do to get a D in there classroom. Some of them told me they can get me in Special Ed and I could do the minimum and get a passing grade. I never went because I would be ashamed if someone saw me in Special Ed, but there were many people in Special Ed that I knew who diffidently didn't belong there. By the way school never was good for me I was home schooled by the best! We never believed in the government school system, Just get that diploma.

    I've heard of O.S.
Other schools gave it different names, but I remember as far back as grade school, at the beginning, I was in a regular class. A teacher told my mom to schedule me for an aptitude test. I guess I did well because when I went back to school after the Christmas holiday, they took me out of my class and put me in a GATE program. Gifted And Talented Education.....I was upset because all my friends were in my old class. I didn't understand. My grades were average at best, but there was a reason for that. To expand on Ed's words, parents do not let the system put your kids away because they don't know what to do with them. Having behavioral issues doesn't mean they have a learning disability. I also knew kids in special education. They were wild, but in the right environment, they were super smart at other things, so there were programs that focused on where their talent was. Thank you for putting thar out, Ed 💪🏽
