Dupri wasn't anywhere near as hot as Howie T back then. Those guys were crawling while Special Ed was walking. Two totally different era's of time in music.
I was just an elementary school kid and my father who loved hip hop blasted the special ed cassette constantly. First emcee that had record after record on a tape that I couldn’t get enough of. SPECIAL ED influenced my rapping more than I knew. Respect Ed!!!! Lemme get a feature 😂😂
Vlad has no sense. Taking beats from Jermaine Dupri who was a DJ for Silk Tymes Leather (which most people probably never knew) would not have done anything for his career. Vlad’s comment (even if not intentional) was nothing more than a diss to Howie Tee, because a young JD at that time wouldn’t have changed anything.
I think it's more about relationships. You never know what will happen with people or where life will take you or them. Ed could have continued his career on So So Def in the 1990s if that would have happened, who knows? The thing I think Vlad is saying is build relationships. I don't think he was dissing Howie Tee
He wasn't just their DJ, they were his first act before he got QT (who would later become Left Eye of TLC) and Kris Kross. I said that to say JD had his fingers on the pulse of some big things early on. Who knows how it woulda played out, but I agree Vlad shouldn't have said it in such a matter of fact manner.
This dude is completely out his mind thinking that JD would have gotten a placement over Howie T during those times. He has no idea of what those JD beats sounded like back then.🤦🏾♂️
Yeah because not too long after this he produced on TLC's first album and he produced Kris Kross. JD is top 3 most underrated producers in my opinion. His name doesn't come up enough in those types of discussions. But on the flipside maybe it wouldn't have gone anywhere. It's one of those things where we never know how it woulda played out.
idk.. closest thing is maybe Yayo & Aries Spears, they actually check him on a regular basis & will argue about ANYTHING lol that Lord Jamar on VladTV era can’t really be replaced
@@joojoobaw I think you can slip TK in the mix as a regular go to for an interview when there are a lot of recent breaking celebrity headlines...or mess🤣🤣.
Man imagine if the label let Ed dropped the OG “The Mission”! They basically wanted Ed to be one of those good clean rappers like Kid N Play 🤦🏾♂️. Ed would’ve gotten street credibility if that was on the album even if it wasn’t a single. I wonder if Ed thought about putting that in the album and not a single at the time? “Come On Let’s Move It” and “The Magnificent Remix” was already big hits

He was mad him and quik and both signed to profile at the time, and the west was on the rise. ED was washed up. I see why he made that comment about NWA
Really smart turning down Jermaine dupri beats, ed is cool and had a few songs but really hasnt done anything since 89... how come you dont ask like hey what have you been doing for 30 years, i just dont get it, like where were you?..
Howie Tee is the most underrated producer form that era. He deserves more respect, he should always be mentioned ✊🏾
Taxin was so effin dope. One of the best joints off 'Youngest in Charge'.
The way they gave Marly his flowers, Howie deserves his also.
How about Tat Money?

5:04 Nas was like the first rapper to work with multiple producers
Also can you imagine DJ QUIK would be a part production of Special Ed's album as a Profile label mates?
Howie Tee is one of the most underrated producers in music period!
Dupri wasn't anywhere near as hot as Howie T back then. Those guys were crawling while Special Ed was walking. Two totally different era's of time in music.
Facts, Howie t solid.i found out about him through Chubb Rock
But to be fair JD blew not too long after, maybe a year or so later and did laps around Howie T.
Didn’t really hear about JDs production until 92. Plus it was very regional back then. JD was from the south.
@@jackjill8129laps in popularity and beat biting...not a better producer

It’s subjective. It may have catapulted him a little higher. But he didn’t make a bad decision. He was loyal to his home team and still had success.

Well, Dupree HAS produced plenty of hits for numerous hip-hop artists (including Jay-Z), so maybe Vlad felt that he could’ve made a hit for Ed. 🤷🏽♂️
