Ya'll tormenting this Michigan man. Love it. Grew up on this stuff. I am a Cook by trade and appreciate this more than you can know.
How do I pick out former Minnesotans living elsewhere? Vocabulary: Hotdish and bars
While in Iowa I heard of hot dish. People seemed to enjoy making it and eating it.
Raised in Ohio. We called that a casserole.I believe casseroles are popular all throughout the mid-west (colder states).
Every family has their own recipe handed down, mine lines the bottom with shredded hashbrowns instead of stirring in the tots; can't forget the sprinkle of cheese on top after it browns, either... 🤷

NO NO NO. The tatertots go on top to symetricly cover the top in perfect lines. And old dutch potato chips sprinkled on top.
and old dutch potato chips of any flavor gets extra points.
@@markwitte303 You might like a sandwich that I ate as a child: ham and cheese with potato chips. It might be a Philadelphia thing.
I could get down with that.
This is so out of date - Never had anything but sandwiches and brownies at funerals. We ate this in the 70s, but it's not a thing any longer.
I put cheese on mine
