Everyone loves praise bc it is meant to be for God alone, therefore we are elevated by praise into being God like, mostly without grace being in attendance ... we then we assume it is what God wants for us. This has been my experience. May God often bring the ways of being humbled. Amen XX

From my personal notes after praying about my struggles with this subject. I hope it is helpful. (The more ministry opportunities the Lord gives me the more demons join the choir of praise. When I am alerted to it I utter under my breath "stupid logismoi". Please pray for me brothers and sisters).: I catch myself being proud. I confess my pride. Then I realize the confession is humility. Then I become proud of humility. Giving thanks is an expressing of love. Thanksgiving fulfills the law of love. Giving thanks draws our eyes out of our own head and dismantles the feedback loop that "fighting pride with humility" creates. Thanksgiving gives no attention to self and brings liberty. There's no limit to thanksgiving. There's nothing that comes to me except by God's hand, therefore, there's nothing I can't give thanks for. There's no restrictions on me to love others. I have every right as a Christian to love anyone I want to. This free flowing love of giving thanks for others empties myself of self- attention. Thanksgiving is kenotic love.
Humility is very esencial in order to avoid the devil temptations, humility burns the demons. Im the spiritual journey and one of the virtues that is very important is the humility. Thank you father for this content.
The irony is that vehemently avoiding praise can be a fruit of pride too. It's better to just take and let it wash off you like a duck's back than to play coy or be in denial of the good you've accomplished with God's blessing. The key is discernment and knowing when to act. May God grant us, myself especially, this ability.

But what about praising other people? If someone does something well, should I say it, in celebration of a good thing, or should I keep my mouth shut, lest I tempt them towards pride? I cannot determine which of these is better. I'm leaning towards saying it, because that's what I see priests and the apostles do, although I cannot estimate whether these are rare exceptions. It is, of course, difficult to know the things that people are choosing not to say.
I’ve found the practice of saying, “May Christ reward you” helpful. It lets them know that their work is appreciated but you leave the reward to God, lest we deprive them of His gift. It is also good to be discerning, praise doesn’t affect everyone equally. For example, young men today are so demoralized that they *need* to be praised. It lights up their souls and barely has an effect on their egos because of how beaten down they are.
My two cents: one way I manage this is with the specificity of the praise. For example, if a child has done a good job on an assignment, I will praise the effort, pointing out specifics, saying something along the lines of, " I can see that you really put a lot of care into your handwriting there," or if it is an adulr, "wow, I can tell that you put a lot of effort and time into that project! I like the way it came together. What did you learn from the process?" This way I am praising positive, productive actions in a way that doesn't feed into vanity or conceit. I'd be very interested to hear what Fr. Josiah has to say on this point!
My solution is to remind the person, regardless of their actions, that I am the most humble person I know. If they protest, I am glad I said it. If they smile, I know they need nothing more from me. 😊

My Priest constantly praises me even when I ask him not to. The people I help in my humble ministry are constantly praising me, my fellow parishioners constantly praise me. It is only my boss at work who gives me soul nourishing criticism. God help me!
A good monk friend of mine once said, when someone praises you, give thanks to God, because ultimately it all belongs to him. So you can always reply with “Glory to God” it will seem unnatural at first but after a while it will be a good habit! ☦️

How can I draw near to God and serve my family with the wisdom the Orthodox Church provides without being directly a part of a local parish or the faith? I would greatly appreciate any advice.
But priest can only marry once and they have to marry before they enter the priesthood. They can not marry again in the priesthood. Same thing with the deacons as well.

Yes, that has always been scriptural and traditional in the Christian religion. Roman Catholics sadly abolished that tradition.
