I'm just curious why he didn't install the roof the correct way from the beginning. Mold will never escape your lungs as it's inhaled and it's a total freaking nightmare to clean up mold from leaks.
I forget what doctors call the condition, but my old boss is damaged for life from mold due to inhaling it from leaks inside their house. They were unaware until too late She's always hours late to work every day nearly from it and suffers 24/7. She owns the business.

April, you're obviously not brain smart. They even hired an architect. They admitted to doing cheap ends here n there especially with the roof due to lack of materials, but wood , everything they did to repair it was available.
They are young, dove into things they had no business doing until learn how to do it or hire people in the know. They did this all too late
Even said locals build with concrete houses .. yet they refused to. It's going to cost them far more money, health issues and upsets

I had a lot of overproduction and everyone told me to do things to reduce my production. Instead, I ended up donating a lot of milk to a breastmilk bank for babies in the hospital. I would pump a little, then nurse, then pump, so she wasn't drowning, but still getting the nutritious part of the milk. It worked great and I ended up donating gallons of milk that I felt was very nutritious and healthy. Food for thought. I also found a mama in my community with low production and she wanted to get milk from someone she knew was healthy and eating well, so she was so grateful for the additional milk. It is such a blessing to be able to nurse. It helps with everything, really; comfort, pain from teething. It isn't possible for everyone, but I wa sso grateful I had that tool.

Lactation consultant here... pumping first is a bad idea to help with an oversupply because, by pumping first and then nursing, you are telling your body that baby is eating more and you need to produce more. So while it may help at a single feed, you are digging a deeper hole.

Lay on your side to nurse as it will help stop the milk from overwhelming babe. In a previous video you mentioned doing this and I would keep doing it. I almost exclusively would lay down to feed. Good job mama! Keep up the good work ❤️

As 45 year pediatric nurse along with being Nursing mothers coach 30 years. laying on side slows milk but open eustachian tubes going straight to ear causing infections in baby. This was discovered hundreds of years ago. Since human anatomy has not change, still holds true today. By Simply expelling small amount of milk from each breast before starting (can do this with fingers. Does not take much) it will lower force of milk. I have assisted many many mothers with success. Maybe this will work for you also. You are doing wonderful job.

    • @runninggreywolf8313
      @runninggreywolf8313 2 роки тому +3

Also using the football hold with the baby being more upright as you lay on your side will help keep the milk from going straight to her ears. The eustachean tubes are shorter and go from the throat to the ear causing ear infections. That's why your baby should never feed lying flat.

Nursing in a reclined position can be equally effective for making the spray of milk less powerful, while keeping baby in a good position for feeding!

As a former Breastfeeding mama…I have a solution to your problem. Just prior to her feeding, manually start your let down…save the milk in a bottle in the fridge in case someone else wants a chance to feed her later…but when your let down slows…then latch her on. You will be grateful for the extra milk production when she goes through her first major growth spurt. I remember days just prior to growth spurts when literally all I did all day long was nurse my baby! I also remember the days that my let down was so fast that it literally choked my baby….this truly does help.

I had a similar problem with my daughter, but it was a bit more extreme. She would vomit as soon as she finished nursing. We out out 3 years later that she had tongue thrust which meant that her tongue rested on her teeth and not on the roof of her mouth. She needed help from a speech pathologist and an orthodontist down the line. My cats caught on very quickly that she would vomit up milk and would swatch me nursing her and lap up the milk as soon as it hit the floor. So, I guess i could say that I breastfed my cats.

I totally agree period between my 4 children. I spent 6 years breastfeeding. I remember all these problems. Also I want to add. Just prior to a growth spurt. When you spend all day nursing. When it was getting time for baby to eat . I would fill 2 -16 oz glasses one full of water and l, of another beverage of your choice. And while Sadie's eating. You need to pump the fluids. To help with the production of your milk. And then kick back and relax. And then just enjoy your time.
May God continue to bless you and yours Amen.

I'm just curious the pay for all in general. I support child labor if it isn't slavery. In America it happens often with kids dropping out of school to work to help pay the bills. It's unfortunate, but it's common. But kids seemingly are paid only a tiny fraction in comparison to adults even if the kids work harder. That pisses me off
A ramble story to share... When I moved to the mountains I asked a neighbor if I may hire her 3 kids to help unload my moving truck. I needed the help from an old injury. 2 hours help... One a teen, he worked hard, one around 12, other was like 7. They had dead beat parents, oldest was planning to become a cop to arrest folks like his parents! Kid you not. What he said
I paid each them $40, same pay. It upset the oldest since youngest barely did a thing... But they wanted to go trick n treating and didn't have costumes. So I paid for it. And their mom promised to buy costumes and take them out. Guess what. She demanded them to give her the money... Then kept having her kids beg me for money and I refused. Before door knocks I was drunk one night and I allowed to borrow my car to get groceries... Came right back with it but it was smoking... Tried to rip me off on repairs, dad is a mechanic.
She kept yelling at me I must give her money since I'm rich. I'm not that rich! And movers would have charged $160-200 for their work.
What I ended up doing and this actually worked. I took a $5,000 piece of furniture and moved it to my fire pit. Got my axe and yelled on top of lungs telling her to never F with me again... Axed it and I lit it on fire yelling threats to her.
She moved out within a week.
I did this "ritual" because I saw my mom go through with it every one taking advantage of her money. I refuse it to happen to me
Only mechanics rip me off today since I can't find an honest one in this new town.

You don't seem to understand. I stem from a wealthy family. Huge amount of wealth. I receive inheritances etc When you're rich it attracts a lot of negative energy and robbers. I got robbed many times there.
What I burned was symbolic to end it all.
I received this idea from a man I worked with in another town who was getting bullied by his nextdoor neighbors. So what he did... Both us the same, don't own guns as 99% do out there... So he went and bought a gun. Bought target practice items. Placed it right beside the property boarder. When they went to harrass him he'd set it up and shoot a bunch of round of bullets! They never F'd with him again!!!
See, I refuse to own a gun even though my father taught me how to shoot them at gun ranges growing up.
I had ever reason to own one... Black panther in back yard living there for years threatening my pets, bears and robbers etc.
So I handled exactly just right!!! What I did worked! And I'm okay with it if anyone thinks I'm a lunatic because I don't care to murder anyone shooting to defend myself and go to prison!!!!!
Price tags to items are simply just that. I grew up wearing the same clothes as many poor had beside mine being made by Izod, Polo, Levi's etc.

I bore witness to a baby kicking up a cup of coffee from someone drinking it and then had 3rd degree burns so cooking on a stove is no different especially if oil is used. Baby's skin is too delicate. Guess I'm a bit sensitive to this having seen the coffee incident. Can't wait for you all to be back together in Panama.

Ok Mama, (before too many more people comment and I have read a few comments too), I'm pretty sure you've talked to your midwife and gotten ideas from her and other people about your breast-feeding issue.
You can express some milk to freeze before you feed her so you don't drown her.
I so remember my milk coming in - and going up my daughter's nose.
With milk squirting everywhere and my baby drowning, I suddenly didn't have enough arms but knew getting my baby breathing again was the most important.
You don't want to restrict your milk because I promise you there will come a time when she WILL keep up!
They have such amazing growth spirts!
And your milk is still trying to figure out your body - and Sadie's - needs.
When I didn't have a bag ready and my milk had "let down," I just let it run out for a couple seconds.
Sadie - that darling lip-smacker! - is also just a tad too excited to be controlled with her initial "smacking."
I hope someone has told you how important it is to strip your milk out with each feeding as much as possible.
That's a great way to get clogged milk ducts if you don't and those you can do without.
If you still feel full or only 1/2 done and you feel there might be a long time between the next feeding and you already feel like you might burst - pump.
If your breasts get tender, take a warm shower and massage your breasts STARTING all of the way up under your armpits.
Your mammary glands go farther up than you might think.
Gentle and in a circular, downward motion, express all or any milk.
Warm compresses can help too and always remember to be gentle.
When back at Lola's Farm, try to keep your breasts warm - don't let them get cold or hit/bruised with anything while working.
I know you'll be itching to get back into the thick of things, but for these first several months you have an even more important/impressive role to play:
I'm going to let you and Jordan fill this part out yourself.
    LoL
Sadie needs you - both of you in so many ways!
Get your Wills made so that she will be safe no matter the country she's in and since you're not married, you may need a legal document giving Jordan the rights to make medical decisions pertaining to Sadie in the event you're not there or for some reason unable to make them for her.
For all I know this has already crossed your mind and it's already done.
You both have very good heads on your shoulders and you have parents already giving you all kinds of advice too - so I'll quit.
    Sadie is so wonderful!
Both of her parents are pretty amazing too.
You'll all be together again before you know it and you're working so hard to make things be in the best shape when that happens.
    Congratulations again!

When talking about the children working I felt you had more to say about realities of other cultures. I really appreciate your heart in wanting to help. My wife and I have been helping build schools and sponsor children through Latin America Childcare for 20 years. Education and opportunity are key to lifting anyone out of poverty. However when families are struggling and the children are sometimes the only income, to deny them employment because of our moral superiority is taking food of the table. I'll never forget when Kathy Lee Griffen shut down her clothing line in Central America because of social pressure because thier were children working in it. The average person in the US rejoiced but not me. My thinking was not that I want Child labor my thinking was there reality. Kathy you just took food off these families table, for some it was thier only income. I to try to put my money where my mouth is and is why I continue to sponsor and support children's education in Latin America.

You'll see that the valleys run toward the back of the structure, as confirmed by the location of the solar panels. The back of the structure has a garage door, where you can look out to see the solar panels, and the gutter is mounted to the back of the structure in accordance with the slope of the roof. The only issue that I see is that the inside ceiling will need insulation. Otherwise the condensation will continue.

@@MrDoodlebug68018I'm 100% sure Sadie's safety is their #1 concern. Jordan is missing 3 weeks of Sadies life making sure things are safe, at this point of necessity. They have months to think about the next stages of Sadie's stages of growth, and to baby proof their farm. I feel your jumping to conclusions a bit to soon. Baby is barely over a month old. Settle down a bit, baby proofing is a journey all parents go through. Their not going to let Sadie fall from the loft! My goodness, you may need to think about wrangling your thoughts in. JS❤

While breast feeding, you want to check your diet as it will go through the milk. Some foods like Brocolli, cauliflower, chocolate are on the restricted list. I'm sure you can google a list of no no foods if baby is having digestive issues. Save your extra milk. while i nursed on one side the other side would also stream, set a clean bottle under that breast to catch the milk. This was much easier for me then pumping which took so much time. :) Baby is beautiful.

Kaylee pump or express milk prior to nursing. Your extra milk can be frozen for future use such as in case you are ill with fever and dehydrated. Line cup with ziplock bag to catch milk leaving room for expansion then freeze in the bags. Body will soon adapt milk production for baby demands. Once I was caught out with flat tire while shopping when feeding time came and my husband just had to go to freezer and thaw out the milk and used the bottle to feed. You are such a great mom.

      1. People have had babies out of wedlock since the beginning of humankind. Stop forcing your uptight religious 'values' on other people.

      3. Pregnancy is nothing to be ashamed of, so why should Kaylee have to hide her belly? It's a freaking belly! Lighten up!

Amazing video, thank you for sharing your journey. 1) As for breastfeeding issues, my sister is a midwife and I experienced the same concerns. Eventually my stream calmed down after baby was a little older(4 or 5 months)(baby is now 41 years old). Earlier post of suggesting to pump through the spurt is a great Idea. I found out that taking broccoli, cauliflower and dairy out of diet stopped the tummy troubles completely. My grand niece just turned 1 recently and mom had to temporarily eliminate the same items as well. Baby calmed right down and slept better at night as well. My sister(midwife) helped to guide her through process. It was super hard for me because we are big on cruciferous veggies too. Look it up, its a thing. 2) Gripe water tea, make it yourself to know ingredients. Easy to make, a few little sips works wonders. I made with fennel, dill and chamomile. Helped with my youngest grandbaby too(7 years old). I wonder if taking fennel yourself would calm down breastmilk reactions for baby, stuff works wonders for all kinds of tummy troubles including tummy bugs and even scary heartburn. Blessings to you in your wonderful parenting journey. You are all are such an inspiration.

I wonder if you have a bit of warning either your milk is rushing in or it is almost time to feed her. If so, maybe pump off the built up pressure you have so it does not gush into her mouth when she starts. I could spray across the room the pressure was that bad. My first boy it would cover his face if he pulled off then he would gag and spit and sputter. It will settle down and be more consistent. I am so happy you get to enjoy nursing. Such a bonding moment. When you freeze the extra then your husband can enjoy bottle feeding once in awhile. God bless.

Safety first is always the best policy, Jordan! Good job! For the future construction projects, keep in mind that condensation will still form. It will now occur between plywood and metal roofing, and the plywood will absorb that moisture. Best to put a membrane on top of plywood, but if that is not available to you, prime and paint top side of plywood. Primer is different than paint and will actually seal the wood and allow paint to adhere better/longer.

Hi , I have a friend who had the same problem as you for the breast feeding. She would pump and put it in a breast milk bag and freeze it. She would do it just in case one day her milk ran dry ( which never did) or for when family members wanted to keep her baby. And she also made soap out of her breast milk which is good for the baby for just a bath or any kind of skin problem including eczema and diaper rashes. Her and her partner would use it too because they both have Eczema and it helps clear it up due to the natural anti bodies and the strong bactericidal properties of lauric acid can help with things like baby acne or even adult acne . So there’s a lot of things you can do with your breast milk that’s beneficial to the whole family . But also , love your family and your videos. Me and my partner want to homestead one day and build everything on it so these videos are so inspiring and educational. And we’re so happy everything’s going well for you all!

The pediatrician had me try all kinds of things that did little to help. What finally did work was to pump before the baby was hungry to lower the pressure. Dad could use this milk later. Things like onions and beans that gave gas were avoided or switched to a cooking spice instead of raw. And baby GAS-X! I have gifted Baby Gas-X to every expecting mom ever since. Although I understand the issue with child labor, one thing that you have to respect are the traditions and customs of a people. When you see these children working these types of jobs they are not only doing it to put food on the tables of their families, they do it because it is their way of life. Remember that most of these people only have these parcels to work on until big industry comes and tries to steal it away from them with their lies and bs. So they work them as a part of learning where their everything comes from. I'm moved and honored of your stance and I respect the work that you do for our people here in Panama, but be mindful of their culture and approach such matters with dignity and respect. The help is always a welcome of course, but you cannot change what is part of someone's' life. Kaylee, I'm a retired IBCLC. You can try sitting with Sadie in an upright position, support her like she is standing on your thigh so she is upright while nursing. Another position that helps is in a recliner with Sadie lying prone over you. Both positions slow the milk flow so that Sadie doesn't need to gulp. You can also nurse from the same breast for several feedings to decrease your supply a little. Be careful not to overdo it and massage any suspect areas to avoid plugged ducts.

  • @laural4644
    @laural4644 2 роки тому

Kaylee, what you consume, the baby consumes. My experiences with califlower, broccoli, etc gave my son tummy upset and gas. Even raw milk and some dairy products gave my son tummy troubles. I switched to goat milk products and plant based milk to cook with. Also drinking fennel & licorice root tea is better than mint tea for baby tummy issues ( much gentler effect).
Using pump for beginning let down* as suggested works well.
*Also alert for opposite: when breast gets hard, hot and no milk let-down production. Years (30+) ago, I had this happened in November/December traveling to Sweden to see the inlaws. I panicked and had to borrow neighbors breastmilk because my son would not take to powder formula. Luckily, my Swedish sister-in-law was a nurse. She showed my this organic sheep wool fibers. Inside my nursing bra, she packed organic sheeps wool around the hard breast. She told me to leave the wool in my bra. Within a day, my breast began to soften and milk began to let-down in 3 days. My sister in-law, stated it's a midwife practice by wise elder women living in rural mountains area. It was a common practice, there. I had not heard anything in the states reference sheep wool for a solution. Back home, I gave sheep wool to a friend that later had the same problem as I had. She got the same successful results, without any prescription drugs etc to delay future breastfeeding, because of taking the drugs. You are doing a great gift, by breastfeeding your little girl. Both of you are beautiful!🇺🇲💞🍼🚫🎉🌈

If you pump first it will slow the flow down eventually so it’s not too fast for her. Also the first part of the milk is somewhat watery which quenches her first and then the milk thickens which is her “meal” and that is what will fill her up.I agree - breastfeeding was the greatest part! Also if you call hospitals or check the internet there are mothers looking for breast milk for their babies. You can pump the extra, freeze it and send it out. Tiffany Beaston has a channel and she produces a lot of milk too so that’s what she does. It’s a great gift to give to other mothers who may not be able to breast feed.

That way gravity won't help push too much down. 2) Try different positions, like feed her while lying down or having her sit up facing you (hard to describe, but try different things. 3) You can pump before you feed. The problem with this is that your body will think you need all the milk and keep overproducing. I would not recommend this unless you're desperate!
Learning how to care for a newborn is always difficult. You can read so many books, get so much advice from other moms, you can do all the educating you can, but still your baby is unique and you will face challenges you have to figure out together. For the breastfeeding - soon your body will learn how much baby needs and trust me, you will soon not produce too much. You're doing a great job, mama.

You are doing a great job. What help babies was pumping the extra out saving it. Taking warm shower or a warm cloth before feeding her. It will help with feeding.

You can also get a breast cup that’ll catch the overflow and slow it down for her. But also, pump afterwards and save/freeze it. If you don’t use it all before you leave, donate it to the NICU in your local area. They’re always in need for preemies. She’s at the age where she’ll want more and your production will catch up to her need. You’re doing so wonderfully!

This will definately help lowering the sound when it rains. I had the same problem. However, I put 5 cm of rockwwool from the inside and then covered it with plasterboards. No sound at all gets through and it insulates against cold/heat. Highly recommended.

Just a bit of info for you. When my daughter was born, and all of the babies I have taken care of, when I fed them I broke the amount of milk into portions. I would feed, say equivalent to 1/3 - 1/2 bottle of milk, then burp by keeping their body upright so the air can escape. Then feed the remaining of the bottle and burp again. If you hold her so that she is bent over your shoulder the gases can not escape, which I turn causes belly aches. I’d pat them on their lower back and work my way up to their shoulders. A sturdy pat. And NO, I don’t mean to do it so hard it hurts them, just firm enough to work the air up.
This works miracles for me and has for many, many years. I’m really not trying to be critical, but just sharing from one mom to another what worked for me.
She is a doll baby. Enjoy these times. They go so fast.😢

DEFINITELY recommend pumping milk and bottle feeding, as well as donating. Win win for baby's tummy pain & daddy can help with feedings.

Thumbs up 🤣 so happy for the info and what you are doing. I hope as you educate us a solution will be realized to correct the issues even a small bit.e.g. if they must work because of the situation as the young boy with his baby, they will learn a trade to change their situation

I had the same (over production) I could have fed twins!!! Sometimes it would fly out of both breasts at the same time like a fountain!! haha. Back in my day you could collect it and freeze it and donate it to hospitals for the premature babies that need help.
