As a non engineer trying to gain an understanding of the two types of analysis this video is great. Thank you.

Thank-you for the clear explanation. In the future, I recommend relating theory with practice at the end. For example, the Canadian steel code now requires p-delta analysis. Structural analysis software, such as Risa 3D, has options to turn on/off p-delta analysis. Etc...
    Thanks again :)

Second order analysis could be non-linear, but not always. Non-linear depends on material behavior of the structure member.

Wonderful explanation. Please explain the concept while designing foundation having axial load and moment, if uplift comes then to allow uplift why it is a non linear analysis and why so iterations are required???

thank you it was very helpful, if you could just add the usage of each type in real life like when non linear analysis is required this would be much appritieated

Non lenear analysis must be done for the structures which sway (deflect) a lot. In real life analysis is done for transmission monopole, transmission towers, highmast, high rise narrow building structures, elevated water tanks etc. Lenear analysis is more simple and fast process. Generally done for structures like small buildings and other structures where sway is less.
