As a Tennessee fan when they lost to Florida I knew the season was over I was hoping they played bad enough to bench Milton and get Nico real game experience
Nope, as an Auburn fan I KNOW we don’t have enough to fire another coach to even come close to that buyout. I just can’t wait to see how much their next coach costs them and add it all up. They should be winning Super Bowls spending that much 💰
As an Aggie, this was spectacular. Six years, multiple top five recruiting classes and Jimbo still couldn’t figure out how to win it all. The jokes just write themselves.

This situation does make me think about Auburn 2011 with Gene Chizik as head coach. Cam Newton joins the team and whoops everyone, and they win the natty. At that point, Chizik gets a big contract extension; nobody's spidey sense went off that maybe Cam Newton was the reason they excelled that year? Unsurprisingly, Auburn fell apart when Cam left, and Chizik was fired fast.
And then Auburn went and hired Gus Malzahn, the other reason the team excelled. Chizik might be the single worst head coach to own a national championship.
Yeah the national championship season wouldn't have happened without Cam. However, Malzahn had a lot do with making Gene Chizik look better than he was. Auburn had losing seasons the year before Malzahn became coordinator and the year after he left. Then he becomes head coach and in his first year takes a team to the national championship that was 3-9 the previous year.
@@Covey7342Nailed it! Unfortunately Malzhan proved to not be head coaching material either. Once recruiting and player development became a factor after the first season, the cracks started to show. He couldn't develop a QB at all, neglected certain key positions in recruiting, and could never get the team prepared for a difficult road environment.

As a Fightin' Texas Aggie Class of '87 grad and one who has endured the pain of the last several coaching outings with really nothing to show but average seasons (aside from a few exceptions) despite spending a bajillion dollars on facility upgrades, high profile hires, incredible recruiting, and joining the SEC, this so hits home and is hilarious, but oh-so-true. Great job as always, SEC Shorts team. You guys are about the only thing that has made the last few seasons of Aggie ball worth watching--LOL! Thank you for keeping the smiles coming, despite ourselves! 😄 That said, the Aggie detractors on this and other threads for the most part may not actually know an Aggie, have probably never been to College Station to get to know the university or the history behind what many understandably see as strange traditions, and really don't know what it means to be one and why we have such pride in our traditions and the school's contributions to this great country since 1876. I get that. I will tell you, though, that most Aggies and Aggie supporters are great people whose beliefs and culture do not mesh with the road we've gone down chasing instant national championships. In my humble opinion, we need to get out of the national limelight, hire someone from a smaller college program with a successful coach who have their priorities straight, are not all about the money, and who focus on accountability, respect, and actually develop players. It takes time to build a national championship-level program, so let's do it right and build the foundation to get there. 👍 P.S. The Peyton Yell Leader parody was the absolute icing on the cake!
