On Wednesday, December 7, 2022, we invite you to a special public lecture organized by the St. John Paul II Institute of Culture at the Angelicum, which will be given by George Weigel (Ethics and Public Policy Center, Washington D.C.). The lecture will begin at 4.30 PM (CET) in Aula 11, at the Angelicum (address: Largo Angelicum, 1, 00184 Roma).
In his most recent book entitled "To Sanctify the World: The Vital Legacy of Vatican II," George Weigel explains the necessity of the Second Vatican Council (1962-1965) and explores the continuing relevance of its teaching in a world seeking a deeper experience of freedom than personal willfulness. The Council’s texts are also a critical resource for the Catholic Church as it lives out its original, Christ-centered evangelical purpose. The lecture and accompanying discussion will further explore the meaning of Vatican II as the most important Catholic event in the past five hundred years.
The lecture will be held in English.
George Weigel - American Catholic philosopher and theologian. He is Distinguished Senior Fellow of Washington’s Ethics and Public Policy Center.
