    Kerma is good for someone wanting more response extra power and that's it. you can go to rawtek and malone to get more power and mpgs but your looking at alot more money that's most aren't willing to do. I've done a tune, air intake and cat back. These mods make it a very nice daily and if I need to go to the dealer I can return it back to stock withing a few hours

      Hi Wayne, I heard about the TD1 flag. VW will label the car if they found its ECU has been flashed and we will lose the warranty. Have you encountered this situation when going to the dealer?

    I finally got mine installed on my 2014 Golf. I also have their ECU tune. Much better than stock.

    You should contact rawtek and get the full DPF/EGR delete if you want gains with big mpg jumps. Coupled with a Malone “stage 2” tune and DSG tune the throttle response is really good, and of course transient response due to being a diesel with a smaller turbo will be really really good

    My last car was a late 90's CRV so I wouldn't even come close to saying this car "struggles" to get up to highway speed, but it looks way faster with this tune.

      What's the benefit of your Malone vs this Kermatune?

    • @TheShahofIrann
      @TheShahofIrann 4 роки тому +1

      Mark Schilling I think the benefit to the Malone is the ability to maneuver between the stages without paying fees for new tunes. I believe Keenan has the same thing however they are restricted to buying from them to avoid update fees. Don’t take my word as law but from what I read that is the biggest difference. I also believe the Kerma adds around ~14hp more without any hardware upgrades. The kerma loader is more expensive however.

    It's your car that much slower than the previous model? I have a 2013 JSW. And I have no problems what so ever even with the extra weight. Maybe it's the standard transmission. Driving a real car makes it way more fun.

    • @3guysgarage
      @3guysgarage  5 років тому

      Aaron Kilen my brother has the previous year Jetta and it was the same. They are good for what they are meant for MPG but to say a manual made that much of a difference just isn’t true. Not only does the dsg hold more power it’ll shift faster than any human ever can. So as far as your “real car” Idk what to say

    • @halllwd94
      @halllwd94 5 років тому +1

      @@3guysgarage Oh I know it's "better" the DSG, but the manual is a true driving experience. Almost every muscle in your body is involved in driving. The "real" car is because it takes skill to drive a manual especially fast, there is no launch mode. Anyone can drive an automatic fast. But having owned several cars of varying specifications. The VW doesn't struggle to get up to highway speed. So unless you are coming from a bigger engined or race car perspective or your car is much slower than the previous model.. I am baffled at why you think it struggles. I have no problems what so ever even passing at highway speeds. With a tune it would stomp a wrx or speed3. Which are not slow cars by any means

    • @3guysgarage
      @3guysgarage  5 років тому +1

      Aaron Kilen my wife has a 2015 Wrx and the tdi would not keep up by any means.

    • @halllwd94
      @halllwd94 5 років тому

      @@3guysgarage a golf with a stage 2 or higher tune is on par with a wrx. The torque does it. But it won't be winning any highway pulls. Just a stage 1 tune or 1.5 won't. I'm personally doing a stage 3 tune after my warranty expires. It won't get me quite there since the JSW weighs as much as a wrx. But it'll be working a lot less at 5-7k feet elevation. Which is where I go often. Not to mention I'll be getting the overdrives tuned for better highway mpg.

It definitely doesn't get anything near the advertised mileage and usually drive the speed limit and don't or actually can't do any jack rabbit starts with this slug. Average in the summer is right at 33 mpg. On longer trips on the highway the best ever mileage I got was 38mpg going 65 mph on a 3 hour trip to Columbus, Ohio. I have taken it into the dealership to have them check it but they can't find anything wrong. So I guess I am stuck with a Slug that's also a Diesel Hog compared to others.

    Hey, man I'm gonna get either a Jetta TDI or a Golf TDI this month.

      @@DanielRodriguez-kl1ls i cant say about the newer ones, but i have a 2006 tdi beetle with a DSG and i've had no issues with it yet. Do have to have the transmission fluid changed every 40k miles. I don't do this myself. Costs about 4-500$ to have it done. If you're confident enough to change the fluid yourself it will cost about 100$ for the fluid and filter as far as i can tell. it only has 100k miles on it though...
      With that said. the stock BEW engine produces pretty much the transmission's rated torque limit. with the limit being 184 lbft and the BEW engine stock producing 177 lbft.
      If the transmission fails on me ill probably hop off the VW TDI bus until im not doing the daily city traffic and go with something with a more reliable automatic transmission like a 80s-90s mercedes diesel or even pull the TDI engine and put it in like a foxbody mustang or something i dont know...
