I won't tell anyone !!!! Looks like we are going to get hit with a bunch of Wind and Rain for the next few days. Snow level is going to be low so no trip to the Hills
Nice work Gary , I found an unworked unknown creek not recorded , less than 1 hour from my house in the rainforest the other day, my best pan went over 50 colours . I haven't hit bottom yet im very excited to get back fri or sat with a long shovel and an extension on my yabbie pump. To see whats at the bottom. Thanks again for teaching us how to find Gold. I dont gamefish much lately anymore though. "Oh hows the Feaver". Cheers Bruce.
Found my first picker yesterday Gary! The sniping with a detector videos were a great help. Thanks for all the knowledge. Hope to see you at the creek or in the hills!
great show ,the rivers over your way just amaze me do not get water like that that clear and volume around golden triangle Australia gold friendly rivalry about the same ,great effort getting yellow when things are tough.
great video Gary, i cant get out yet to my claims waiting for snow melt glad to see your out making videos, keep them coming i do enjoy the panning/crevicing /how to videos. I f you ever make it to The Blackhills sd look me up for metal detecting and gold of course.
Use the detector to find hot spots, then pan. Or detect on top of those dredge tailings. What was on the bottom is now on top. I bet it been done a few times, but did they do it all ? How about the blow out at the spillway. That moved some gold around !
That is a good idea. I know Jeff is ahead of me again. I think I will take the detector down there and just work the spots that have lead. This could work!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Great video thank you Gary it is very ambitious and challenging to find gold in a low producing area. Everything I've learned from you and Andrew I applied to Dry Creek by putah Creek Yolo County and when I find a few flakes on the pay streak it is quite a victory so thank you for everything you have posted
My Dad had a friend, who had a large cattle ranch that area. In the early 60's we would go there to hunt ground squirrels. There were thousands of squirrels, we would hunt all day and not put a dent in them. Thanks - Gary
your Making me home sick ! LOL I've been up here in Washington way to long . I grew up fishing bass & salmon on the Yuba and Feather. Great Vid Thanks again Gary
I know this is an old video but I currently have been working this river and they be 20 people on a an area working it they dig 3-4 feet deep and I alway tell them the gold is in th first 6-8 inches but they still dig super deep
you guys are hilarious. keep up the great videos. “Now the weight of gold that came to Solomon in one year was six hundred and threescore and six talents of gold;” 2 Chronicles 9:13 KJV i think a talent is a little more than 72 pounds
You sure make it hard being stuck in the 20 degree weather, every time I see your videos i want to grab my pan and head south! Love the finds, even if I do get jealous☺
Two Toes i know right we got hail/ snow here @ 1500 feet yesterday in eldo county, supossed to come in good , Ca needs water but sure puts a damper on prospecting & styaing dry!
Mr. Gary, been watching your show a long time, learned a lot. One thing I still have not learned and wish to know are the names of any of these rivers. Are you that carefull in not divulging ? Please give us at least some local history of your area since your only five minutes away from a river. Names please, love your show. I have a story of my Dad catching a sixty five pound ling cod on a five pound red snapper who ate a one inch piece of herring. Roughest time I ever had gaffing that fish as a fifteen year old. And now I am 72. My wife is Sharon and I am Roy. Want to talk?
Jeff and I have been trying to get out more, but our schedules don't mesh well. We did manage to get in one trip, I'm editing that video right now. Oh, by the way - I'm ahead right now! lol
Hey Gary thanks for the reply that narrows it down quite a bit for me So today I went Metal detecting and had a great day found over 50 coinsOne wheat penny old Boy Scout neck tie clip i'm going back as soon as it's done raining these coins have been sitting there since the flood came through and took all the topsoil off and I just can't believe no one's run across them with a metal detector you would crack up if I told you where they were
morning gary, hey ah the other day the dogs were with me and some ticks showed up. now what is a guy to do ? yea i do the checking , brush the dogs , do you use some kinda spray like deet to keep them off ?? cause im thinkn im gonna take a bath in it before i go out again. dont like them ticks. topcat had one on his neck. man poor guy.
I spray my outer clothing with permethrin every couple of weeks and I spray myself with "Deep Woods Off" before I leave the truck and again before I start my hike out at the end of the day.
Two Toes Thanks...outstanding work guys! St. Patrick's Day is right around the corner 🍀 if your gonna beat Jeff you better find that pot of gold before he does! Cheers!
Hey Gary that was a great video I'm about 20 miles south of you I pretty much have the same scenario ten minutes from the house nothing but Tailing piles for miles my question is have you ever tried metal detecting for specimens in those piles and is there getting ready to be a hands and pans flood gold contest for the month of March or something? :)
Up where I am there isn't alot of quartz gravel. I'm sure there would be some quartz pieces with gold in them, but I think they would few and far between. If your in a area that has a lot of quartz rocks it might be worth your time to take a look. Thanks - Gary
Guess it helps if I finish watching the video before posting like a ding-a-ling. Awesome. Was just trying to get an idea of where you go. I live in a suburb of Sacramento and know you are somewhat near by. I would love to go prospecting with you one day. I am a beginner prospector, I have been interested in prospecting for 4-5years but work and home life have made my adventures out to the river very few. Living in the heart of historic gold country is both a blessing and a curse. It’s great because you know there was gold here and probably still is but it’s super difficult to sort out where has been mined out by bucket dredges and where is still worth while for a small hobby prospector. I know the chance of striking it rich is very slim but I would like to fine more than 50-100mesh flower gold.
2nd year prospecting but I was curious do outside bends have flood gold? I live in Washington and the Green river is right out my back door. The inside bend is covered with BlackBerry up and down the river. Is it worth it to try behind the trees in the flood zones. PS lots of black sand too.
Flood gold can be found most anywhere, but over the long run you will find more gold by sticking to the "gold will take the shortest route down the river" rule.
It's was nice to meet your buddy Jeff, boy he sure must have a steady hand holding that camera, because your videos are never jumpy! I think you're using a tripod at times too that Jeff can't make it.... It would have been funny if you took us along for the ride back to the river to check and see if Jeff was there at your spot. BUSTED!! lol!
Are you familiar with the Lytle Creek CA area? If so Id like your input or opinion of the area. There are over a dozen old gold mines/claims throughout a tight area there and are free to the public but people seem to shun it. I live less that an hour south of it and can be in it fast and long LOL Thank you and good job on the vids, I find myself watching them more than others.
LOL thats a wow button on your computer screen. :) For the Horde! I'd like to know what you do for research. (geological survey maps, siesmic, etc? what info do you look at and what do you ignore and why. Thanks for your time.
The UA-cam channel was my son Joe's idea. He had built a rock crawler out of his Jeep and wanted to start making 4 wheeling videos. He convinced me to start making gold prospecting videos. The original idea was to have a split channel. One side would be 4 wheeling - Two Toes, the other side gold prospecting - gold mining basics. The name Two Toes, came from the fact there is no where a Goat can't go with their two toes!Well, life caught up with my son. His wife, who is in the Air force, got stationed in Omaha, Nebraska.Nebraska, is not known for its mountains, not much rock crawling going on there. Then in addition to my grandson they were blessed with twin girls. That pretty much killed the 4 wheeling because Joe is a stay at home dad. I have kept the Two Toes name because of the history - and I like it!And who knows in 18 years Joe might start making videos.
Life does change things for us, seems like daily sometimes. Thanks for the history and congrats on the twins. I'm sure they are a lot of enjoyment. I like them Two Toes name and it's one that's easy to remember. I sure enjoy the videos and adventure. I have some basic equipment and your work has inspired me to get out more. If there's no gold to find I'll camp and have a fish feed. Thanks again.
To be fair just the weight isn't the whole story. It's also the number out trips taken to collect it. If one has 50% more gold and it took over twice as many trips how's that fair? Maybe it could be weight/# trips. Just saying. Cheers
LOL, Here is a short history - The UA-cam channel was my son Joe's idea. He had built a rock crawler out of his Jeep and wanted to start making 4 wheeling videos. I heard that the dirt that has been excavated from the dam has gold in it. And the feds are guarding that dirt against the people who want to pan it. Is there any truth to that since the problems with the dam. And are you allowed to pan close to the Dam?
Most all that dirt is just that, dirt! It came off the hillside and has no more gold in it than any other hillside. I have worked that section of river off and on from 1970 until the state closed the state park off to all prospecting, in the 1990's ( I think). That section of river has very little gold left in it. You are not allowed to do any prospecting in Oroville dam below the 900 foot level. The river, from the dam to the fish ladder is also closed, or as far as I know it is.
What I was told where they dug in the water by the dam. The guy who told me his brother operated the excavator form a barge digging in the water by the dam. not off the hillsides. But since you live there you should know thanks. Funny the state closed the water to panning.
Just got home from the River with more Gold !!!! Game On !!!!
Your going to make me skip work!
I won't tell anyone !!!! Looks like we are going to get hit with a bunch of Wind and Rain for the next few days. Snow level is going to be low so no trip to the Hills
Guess what Baseballs over and its raining again !!!

i think a talent is a little more than 72 pounds
I thought shrinkage between the creek and my house was just my problem! Bit of friendly competition is always fun. Good on ya!
Another nice video! Thanks for sharing the experience.
Very nice! Thank you from Chico.
You sure make it hard being stuck in the 20 degree weather, every time I see your videos i want to grab my pan and head south! Love the finds, even if I do get jealous☺

Great video Gary. Do you ever with the dredge tailings?
Hey Gary that was a great video I'm about 20 miles south of you I pretty much have the same scenario ten minutes from the house nothing but Tailing piles for miles my question is have you ever tried metal detecting for specimens in those piles and is there getting ready to be a hands and pans flood gold contest for the month of March or something? :)

Is that the middle fork of the American river? And is the dam you refer to in the video French meadows resivoir dam?
Feather river and Oroville dam.

That's huge gold compared to the micros we find in Georgia
2nd year prospecting but I was curious do outside bends have flood gold? I live in Washington and the Green river is right out my back door. The inside bend is covered with BlackBerry up and down the river. Is it worth it to try behind the trees in the flood zones. PS lots of black sand too.

Would love to tag along some day
Great Video Thanks
Gold or no gold, I enjoy your videos 👍

That area is way to far south for me, not familiar with it. Thanks - Gary
What do you do to dry out gold?
Lol, just going thru archives and some have me bustin up about Jeff.
LOL thats a wow button on your computer screen. :) For the Horde! I'd like to know what you do for research. (geological survey maps, siesmic, etc? what info do you look at and what do you ignore and why. Thanks for your time.
I have been trying to do a video on research but it seem there just isn't enough hours in a day!
Another good video nice work .
U should try sniping oroville dam! Won't of got much further!
i would think going above the dam would work well, what do you think.
Its illegal to prospect in Oroville Dam State park. You have to be out of the park.
@@TwoToes didnt know that thanks for the info
Fun video, gold is where you find it. Close to home is even better. Can you tell us where the Two Toes name came from?

Hit button from Siberia
By the way love your videos wish I was back in Cali
Politically I bet you don't.
LOL I've the small problem with my gold. Its always shrinking.
You can have some of mine mate.
7th and I got here as early as possible!
Spending to much time working on the fundraiser.!!
Get in on Vo-Gus Prospecting contest, check out the video! - ua-cam.com/video/JyP6bkRZACM/v-deo.html

American River?
Feather River.
Ok, going to ask, have to ask. Why "Two Toes" Did you stay outside in winter too long?
Barry it's because he's part mountain goat

Thanks for telling the story of Two Toes. Whenever I see that name I wonder what it means.
Thanks for the history it. Now I no why the photos are on your introduction can't spell for shot even with my phone's help . I've started do little gold in New Zealand my self. like you're vids helped me a lot so Thanks a lot

Whites makes the GMT, Fisher makes the Gold Bug.
And Gary likely has 10 of each. ;)

Thanks someone let me come here to know him.........thanks God blessing.....
How far from Oroville do you live?
10 - 15 miles.
El Jonguito I think he said 5 miles.
Guessed .15!!
I think Jeff beat you.
I was winning !!!
No such thing as Your video is too long. :o)
