i think one important detail that a lot of companies/tailors miss is lining up the patterns. yes, i get it, it's expensive since it requires more material. but when the patterns on the shoulder line up perfectly with those on the sleeve, it shows the effort that has been put into making the suit. i am no expert in quality and i would love to find out more. but where i live, it is difficult to find the right stores/tailors who are well educated on this.
Great work, Antonio! Great to hear someone dishing out the best advice on this topic. 90% of guys don't know the difference between OTR, M2M or Bespoke.
Antonio ... The beauty is .. you made a videos of almost same things like suits , watches etc .. but everytime we seems new .. I don't know from where you find new content for same thing .. I really started to check details of cloths and styles after starting to watch your videos ..
Antonio, thank you for another great video. You always surprise me with more information on men’s wear! Also I would like to add, I am an ASM in a retail store and I’m over the mens department, your video have really prepared me for that type of work and I want to say thank you for that!
Mr. Centeno I wanna thank you for all you do you've made me want to invest in more suits and to dress better and to broaden my horizons for clothing styles and accessories and to have more confidence and how to portray myself as an upstanding man and you've helped me with my insecurities so keep doin what your doin also loved the video
I was watching a Bond movie the other night “Spectre” Daniel Crag was wearing Tom Ford suits which I thought were cut way too tight and looked uncomfortable. Just thought I would mention that 😊
basically anything Polyester is cheap, wrinkles, looks awful, Polyester isn't even a fabric, its plastic fibers.. there are some retailers out there that are selling Polyester garments as if they are made from Super 220 wool..
Almost all natural fibers are polymers. Whether or not something feels like fabric depends on it's macro and microstructures, and has little to do with is chemical makeup. You can even make fabric that feels nice out of metals.
Totally agree with you in London we have suitsupply it called moss London high quality suite for under 100£ I bought suite last 2 years ago with shoes tie belt plus double cuffs shirt for 160£ still wearing it for occasion day
You always present great information. But, I'm really impressed with your ability to organically mention your sponsor for the video. Usually I just skip over the "sell", but yours don't even sound like a sales pitch.
One of your all-time best videos, Antonio - great job. Which suits from S&M are you wearing in the video? I bought one on sale recently, and was very impressed; looking to buy more.
I just did a dyi replacing buttons on a blue blazer. I took off the shiny ones and replace it with antique brass. Two in front and three each on the sleeve. I was wondering about the fourth button and also on the spacing. Seem like the three or four buttons are typically touching or even crowding. I decided to put a slight spacing between those. I know it is a minor detail I'm not able to find any information on proper sleeve button numbers and placement. I have some other blazers under consideration. Thanks, always enjoy your videos.
I usually buy my suits from Indichino or suits supply. But on a day of nothing to do I was going through random suit stores around town in Brisbane and all the suit stores have all these suits that make you look like your wearing a zoot suit from the 50's or they were extremely tight. And the quality is terrible. I don't care if the suit costs $10 or $50000 if the quality/ craftsmanship and fit isn't flawless it's not worth it. You'd be fooling nobody on being stylish and or professional if you walked out with a baggy Gucci suit. Thank you for the video M8.
Great video as usual. I know you’ve traveled overseas a lot and specifically to Asia for suit buying and testing purposes. I find myself in a similar situation in South Korea. However, my first interaction just trying to buy a couple dress shirts and a pair of slacks was nerve wracking because of the language barrier. I’m terrified to try and get a suit made though I know prices here can be cheaper. I was wondering if you could share some of the things you did to cross that gap for those of us that find ourselves being measured for a suit by a tailor that you’re not quite sure understands what you’re talking about.
I will say good video overall but as someone who worked in retail for many years and in the men’s at a semi higher end store (for reasons I’d rather not say which store) and worked on the typical high end pay structure of draw commission which is one of the hardest systems to work in and will say that people I knew in lower end stores were a bit less often on draw commission compared to higher end as draw commission usually brought out the worst in people in my experience and better at times to find someone who worked in lower end who knew their stuff or boutiques (else pending on the boutique of course) tended to work base plus and the people tended not to be as cut throat and more willing to tell you the truth at least in my experience
For a suit that suits you visit a tailor. Period. I use the same tailor in Hong Kong for over 20 years now. Cool wool for summer. Warm wool for winter. And I mean Hong Kong summer. Selection of fabric and style, measurements, 2-3 fittings.
If you want a suit suitable for outside in winter, a 50% wool, 50% poly blend makes up a good fabric. Warm, water resistant, won't wear out fast. Can also look real good! Poly's major drawback is that it aint a breathing fabric, more an issue for summer and hotter climates. 100% poly suits often don't look that good, but they are ofcourse the cheapest suits, kinda what you get from New Look or Hema 's cheapest line. Maybe allright for if you just need a suit and don't care all that much. :p
I would say buyers research a suit brand. Not every cut or suit school looks right on every man. Ex: Huntsman= better on a tall/lanky gent, Ditto Ralph Lauren, Tom Ford. Whereas a lot of Japanese brands, Jonathan Quearney, Peter Manning are for/look best on shorter guys imo.
@@RealMenRealStyleI was originally just going to go to.Jcpenney or a similar place but Spier and MacKay looks quite nice and since getting a made to fit is now within grasp I'll either go there or a spot in Colorado springs named Rutledge's. Real Men Real Style here in Japan, i see a TON of “Salarymen” (businessmen/male office workers) i see a lot of well-fitted suits. it’s hard for me to find things that fit me (a stocky African-American man) but i know what to look for and where. i have to go online to get a good fit, as my only option for a GREAT fit here in Japan is bespoke.

No Indochino. I bought a nice suit from Indochino. I was initially very excited. Then the pants started falling apart within the first 6 months. I wrote to them and they just made an excuse. I'm rather unhappy with Indochino.
when I button my suit and my hands started to move, is it normal to see a little gap from the chest? Is there an advice on whats the maximum gap on the chest is still considered okay? Thanks

A salesman who only focuses on making the sale is a really poor salesman. Unfortunately, it's all too common today
You can avoid them if you know how to spot a quality suit.

basically anything Polyester is cheap, wrinkles, looks awful, Polyester isn't even a fabric, its plastic fibers.. there are some retailers out there that are selling Polyester garments as if they are made from Super 220 wool..
Polyester isn't the best, but it has its place for more casual, active wear.

"super numbers" are not the weave, it s the size of the fiber. thinner, longer fiber equals higher number

A suit with working button holes gives the impression that more time and effort were invested into manufacturing the garment.
