It cannot be denied that the necessities of life with landslides and floods always go hand in hand. Until later when this earth is swallowed into the human stomach.
No need to mourn and regret the consequences. It must have been understood and taken into account.

I can tell you that the logs you see in this video are hardwood and not nz pine. The workers are probably indonesians, and definitely not nz 1:13

New Zealand trees sold overseas at wood chip prices, why? Easier to collect the welfare benefit than get ones hands dirty. Sadly. NZ benefit x2 of that of South Korea

I’m from the UK but I guess your message is that you think it’s too easy to get benefits in NZ than work? If that’s the case, then there are many here in the UK who would agree with you. But here is my dilemma. I think most people would agree that a civilised society should help those on genuine need - short term unemployment, medical or mental disabilities etc. equally, we want to avoid selfish people just taking money they don’t “deserve”. The only way to do that seems to be means testing. In my long life, we’ve had long spells of various means testing regimes - and none of them lasted because they (seemingly) can’t stop genuinely needy people getting rejected. So the answer may well be that a civilised society has to allow some selfish people get money they don’t deserve in order to ensure that nobody in genuine need falls through the gaps.
