Can you explain the difference of Tonpu, Hanchan, etc?
A tonpuusen is an east-only game, where each player gets to be dealer once. A hanchan is an east-south game, where each player gets to be dealer twice, with the second round being the south round.
Are you the developer for this addon? I only ask because the firefox addon's homepage link takes me to this video.
No, I had nothing to do with the development of this extension. But, the developer ended up finding this video and found it helpful. They actually left a comment on this video a few months ago, which I just pinned right now.
Thanks a lot, that's great ! :) Quick question: I'm using Firefox, and the colour selection for the tiles is bugging out for me, as all the tiles' backs are black, any after changing the colour, only the colour for the tiles of 1 (sometimes 2) player changes. Anyone knows how to fix this ? It's not game-breaking, but I would indeed prefer to play with a bamboo-like colour for the tiles. Thanks again !
Thank you for the kind words. As for the tile backs, I haven't done much with those visual settings, so I don't think I can be of much help. Perhaps clearing your browser's cookies or temporary files might help?
Today I installed the addition Tenhou English UI in my Google Chrome on the Macpro. So far so good. When I connect to tenhou.net I could click website version under play button. This connects to tenhou.net/3. And this page only shows a black screen. Is this a html5 program?. If it is flash, then I would understand the problem, because flash programs are dead now. What have I done wrong?
I'm not sure; I've never heard of this extension causing such a problem. Perhaps try disabling the extension and then opening tenhou.net/3 again to see if that changes anything. If that fixes it, then you could use the native English translation that Tenhou added recently. It's not as robust as the extension, but it should be enough to be able to play. But if that doesn't fix the problem, then I don't know what else you could try.
@@LightGrunty I just disable the extension and opened tenhou.net/3 without problems. Thanks for your input. There is also an apple app on ios in the apple store. It works also fine with the Ipad
I did the test game and the timer is way too fast. It only gave me like 10 seconds per turn. That's no fun playing that quickly.
Well, Tenhou is regarded as the most competitive online platform for riichi mahjong, and the time limit does reflect that. There are plenty of other clients with less harsh time limits, as well as games where you can play against AI opponents and take as long as you want. I covered one such game, Kemono Mahjong, in a video on this channel.
Hi, when I was creating my ID, it says there are characters that couldn't be used. Should I use Japanese characters??
Japanese characters should work, but English letters should also work just fine. I haven't heard anything about restricted characters on Tenhou, but it's very possible that they disallow special characters.

Yes, you could use a private lobby. Any lobby other than lobby 0 allows for unranked games. You just type ?L#### after the URL to use a different lobby, replacing the number signs with any four numbers. For example, here is a private lobby that many English-speaking players use for casual games:
