It’s definitely hard to juggle gardening with work. People think I’m crazy to put so much effort into growing a large garden while working as a truck driver. I’m gone for five days, home for three. My wife helps a lot, and I’ve gone to a deep mulch garden to lessen the weeding and watering. Don’t feel bad if you have to cut some things out, or ask for help. Maybe by next Fall you’ll think of some ways to do your preserving in ways that don’t become overwhelming.

I didn’t realize you drove truck! That’s a big job to have on top of a big garden. Figuring out those time saving tasks are the only way to make this lifestyle work. I definitely know much will be cut out next year.. but also planning to do very low maintenance crops, like potatoes!

@@bloomandwiltgardens good idea to go with crops that take less maintenance! Made me think of the pole Limas again. We’re still getting production! I recommend getting King of the Garden AND Sieva…the Sieva (meaning smaller) are still large, but not huge like the King’s. Both are basically the “original” Limas from South America. Bush varieties were bred for modern gardens, I think in the early 1900’s. The reason I like both is to have some size variation ..
