Yeah I'm never going to have the battery capacity TO RUN A $2500 A/C unit nor can i afford such A UNIT, plus install. I'll stick to my $20 S/H portable Italian Devante that I can only run from 240Vac when I'm in a caravan park that's more than big enough for my campervan!
Would absolutely love to win this. We just bought the TIAV enerdrive system to go off grid, getting it installed next week, so excited. This air con would be the cherry on the icing on the cake 😊❤
Great vid buddy, and good timing on comp our dometic shroud just disintegrated and dometic no longer make replacement, trying to fibre glass together. 🤣
Hey Justin random question not related to this vid but we have four poly tanks and want to convert 1 into the plunge pool like the plunge pools on one of you videos ( that i cant find now) trying to show hubby what it looks like Help!!
Thanks for the info, does this one have a light incorporated in it somewhere? Pity they dont make more of these A/C’s reverse cycle, Inverter air cons are a more efficient heater than a cooler, this makes more sense for the newer model vans, etc, coming out now days with Lithium setups & alleviates the need or urgency to install other heat sources. Good overview. Cheers
Yes, it will run from a 2600W Enerdrive inverter. Provided you have the battery bank to provide the continuous discharge current. This AC draws a max of 1748 Watts, the 2600W Enerdrive inverter will cover that with no problem. Being an inverter AC it also won't have a power spike like your older-style AC's. An Enerdrive 200Ah Btec battery has a continuous discharge of 200A for 30 mins. If the AC happens to pull the full 1748W via the inverter at 12.8V, you are looking at a theoretical current draw of 136A. So both the battery and the inverter can cover this. Now, in reality, I can see that Justin mentioned in an earlier comment that this unit drew 55A, which is a lot better than the 136A number based on the maximum wattage. Much like the previous Harrier Plus, a minimum of 300 - 400Ah of lithium with a continuous discharge current of no less than 200A would be best suited to run this AC. You want no less than 750W of rooftop solar for replenishment. Realistically, running a caravan AC from any battery system is a luxury and something you can do here and there to take the edge off the heat. Inverter-style roof top AC's are the best unit to do it with and the tech keeps getting better.
Hey Justin & Bec… We’ve loved your content for years… thanks. The info on the new Dometic Freshjet is helpful & timely. Our van is less than a year old and the air conditioner (The other high profile brand) has just crapped itself and apparently it’s an ongoing issue… so I’m looking down the barrel of having to pay to swap it out so I reckon this unit could be the go. Thanks for the overview.
Lol coincidence. Our ibis air con died a sad death about 7 days ago . Currently melting in outback qld. Picked up my phone to a notification that trip in a van is doing aircon give away 🤣🤣
Hey guys I received a reply today on a post of yours from 2 years ago. Please tell me it’s legit, I’m crying now thinking I’ve won something I just wanted to be sure first.
The fact that you've used the incorrect "your" in the video title and I've spotted it, surely that means I'm a shoe-in for the giveaway Lorro!!!!! C'mon mate!!!!!
How brilliant! I'm soon to build out my van and one of these would be ideal. Thanks for your continually awesome content, and what a bonus you get to do awesome giveaways as well.
Am looking to get ours fixed as it hasnt worked since we bought the van (second hand) so this would be a great win. Keep up the vids you lot. Enjoying the new series. Cheers..... Pete

It’s on our ultimate campsite vid if you scroll back a few videos 👍👍
Cheers all fired up to cut holes in our corrugated poly water tank
Great info thankyou well keep fingers crossed I win I’m about to build a new van
Best of luck!
Would've been cool to see current draw on your inverter if using on battery. Thanks for the competition. Hope you're having a cracking time.
55 amps 👍👍
@@TripInAVan nice. It's pretty efficient then.

This one does have a light incorporated in the unit yes, and it can be run as a heater but it draws a lot more current
wow, just what I need, I have been trying to save for an air conditioner for so long…..🤞…looks fantastic.
Pity Dometic and others don't introduce inverter tech for their compressor fridges. Still dinosaur technology.
would you recommend fresh jet ? no issues as i want to replace another brand on a 3mth old van can you control it via internet?
Only had it a few months but it’s been a great unit. You can use a mobile app to control
sounds like the ducks guts we've got one going in next week thanks@@TripInAVan
Justin will it work on an Enerdrive 2600w inverter. I note max cooling capacity is 2900w. Thanks
I would not I reckon hey.. would prob trip inverter

@@pabloGCX thanks we have 600 amps and currently run IBIS 3 A/C off batteries
Yep, you'll be fine if you are looking to upgrade. The Freshjet pro (middle size) is more similar to the ibis.@@peterdickinson9800

Thanks for the comp. We really need to replace our Ibis 3 as its nearly done. Love your videos.
Glad it was helpful!
Awesome work mate. Guessing that the upgraded cooling capacity would have come into a world of its own up here in the NT.
Definitely mate, works a treat
