Talk about having to eat the meat & spit out the bones…your gracious comments vs. your snide remarks are beneath the man of God but quite frankly, typical for you. Your comments about the green room, plane & diet were unnecessary & unhelpful.
I learned from you Dr. White, and having a Catholic childhood, I know you cannot idolize, as my Roman Catholic faith taught us we should do. I have read your books and others in order to flesh out the truth but I don’t idolize you. I respect you however. As a new Christian I could not understand why people are outraged about Lawson. my understanding is that we all sin. I put my trust in Christ. “Grab the meat. Spit out the bones.” 👏👏
@@travishowett7651 I have no interest in portraying anyone into a stereotype. I do however have an issue with idolizing a teacher or pastor, minister, or priest above the teachings of Christ. We don’t need to be fans of these people and buy all their books and products. We should do our own hard work and deepen our understanding through prayer and reading. I buy a lot of my books at thrift stores. I watch a lot of pastors for free. James White helps me to learn how to challenge the status quo, and I enjoy learning about contrasts to find the truth. Shouldn’t church elders hold their staff to high esteem as part of a job description? It’s not my job to be sure any of these people behave for the good of their church. Jesus knows their heart. With time, they always expose themselves. In my opinion.
I met James at a conference in TX and he is telling the truth. He stood up front until EVERYONE could speak with him. I thought he was very gracious in that regard.
James can come off haughty if you don't know him that well, like if you watch one debate or video you may think he seems that way, but I've seen him show immense love and graciousness to Muslims and Mormons and homosexuals and others while trying to win their souls, he seems to really have a passion for souls coming to Christ and he's blessed me immensely and he is not afraid to make enemies of those he feels has dangerous views within the body of Christ. His view on this was honestly really gracious and it is how we all need to view it
You can’t look at others and you can’t look within yourself for “evidence”of salvation or encouragement. If Lawson was born again he’s still born again, no matter if he repents or not. Should he repent? Of course! But God doesn’t rip the Holy Spirit out of a believer who sins, no matter the sin Eph 1:13-14. What God’s word says is our encouragement.“ you will know them by their fruits” is talking about false teachers, Mat. 7:15.
people going on the comment section like they never sinned , Lawson needs to come to repentance and accept the Lord’s discipline and we need to pray for him his family and the woman . Less you fall may this be a warning to us all how we interact with the opposite sex
He carried on an inappropriate relationship for 5 years. Not a one-night fling. Plus, the woman's father caught him and force him to confess. Get your head out of your ass.

So many Arminian “Christian’s” commit sin and fall as preachers and no one cares, but a reformed man does it and it’s a “Calvinist” issue? How ignorant and silly people are. Gods elect are made up of fallen beings. Gods ordained plan for everyone doesn’t make him responsible or the author of sin. Has no one read the Bible? These teachings are so clear. Both predestination AND Gods will. It’s sad people are choosing to stay ignorant because of their own desires and take of scriptures.
@jorgemoreno5007 There's no more rude, mocking and ungodly people than Arminians. Roman Catholic church, Seven Day Adventism, Jehovah Witnesses, Oneness Pentecostals!!! - and many more, what do they have in common to their very last member? They're Arminians.
didn't God ordain steve lawson's affair? could have ordained him not too sin too....weird We going to ignore clear passages where God clear states abstaing from sin is the will of God....????
This isn't just a disappointment. That being said... I can't stop believing... Bc i have a personal relationship with Christ... My life is literally hidden IN him, and all that has happened doesn't prove the Bible false but ACTUALLY drives the truth of it even farther home. We shouldn't have to tell people not to idolize men... The Spirit of God teaches us this in our very hearts and it's confirmed through the word.
@@johnfreeman9766 If you are trying to say that God isn’t surprised by anything, nor does He ever have to come up with a “Plan B”, then yes, that is accurate. No one is saying that he isn’t saved or is saved. God knows, God is sovereign, and that is sufficient. Hopefully Lawson genuinely repents, earns back the trust of his poor wife and family, and is indeed genuinely saved, as he claims to be. Noah, Peter and David sinned massively in their respective lives. Having said that, his ability/privilege to ever lead a church is gone forever.
@@johnfreeman9766 Has it come to cursing? Wow, touched a tender nerve. I’m not lying just applying. Maybe you should check his doctrine instead of demanding with profanity I check myself. Just saying.
@@jimgarrett7078 You have no right to declare who is or isn't saved; only God knows. If he repents be it 5 years or longer he's good to go. This is the best thing God could have done for him. Even though its a terrible stain on the church.

6:30, is the most important thing White says. I'm not sure he believes it though. Pastors, teachers, leaders of all sides are prone to sin .It is so much more glaring when a Calvinist sins like Lawson did. The reason being is that they are so condescending. I know, I was a Reformed, Orthodox Presbyterian, Calvinist for 57 years. We all idolized different past and current pillars in the faith. From Calvin, Knox, and Machen, to Sproul, McArthur, Bauchman, & Washer. We all quoted or used their sayings in our sermons, theology, and doctrinal conversations. I suspect that Reformed Baptists, and PCA folk had their own mini circle of idols like we OPCers did. Heck, I loved Piper's books, I listened to Begg for years. B.B. Warfield, Ferguson, Ryken, Horton, Beeke, & Boice were all great influences. The problem began with these Reformed Conferences the various camps started. Many of these men stopped being preachers/shepherds and became Reformed Rock Stars. White, Lawson, Washer, McArthur, and to some extent Sproul began to believe and relish this status. There is something fundamentally wrong with a doctrine and by extension a local church that allows something like Lawson's sin go on for five plus years. When Pastors are away from their churches at 2-4 day conferences as much as 3-4 times per year, there is no real accountability. "Things" begin to be neglected, wife, children, grandchildren, flock, God, etc. The elders of Lawson's church should have seen something, there is no way that Lawson could not have shown something to indicate what he was involved in. Calvinism has done more harm to the Church than anything else besides Roman Catholicism. The reason I grieve for Lawson and his ilk, is because he has a form of godliness but denies it's power. 2 Tim. 3:1-9 sums up this current situation. Lawson regularly was a boaster, proud, unloving, unforgiving, a slanderer, obviously did not have self-control, was head-strong, and obviously a lover of pleasure. Unfortunately, Calvinist's resist the truth, 2 Tim 3:8, thus are disapproved concerning the faith. Verse 9 tells us that these men will progress no further, for their folly will be manifest to all, as theirs also was (Jannes & Jambres). I have watched countless videos of Reformed men and women commenting on Lawson. None of them have used Scripture to rebuke Lawson. They all have used the Scriptures to restore him. Yes, he can be forgiven and hopefully he will repent. That is important to his future. What is important to the Church, the Bride of Christ is to debunk this spurious doctrine that has plagued it for 1400 years. I implore people to get rid of your Westminster Standards, and Calvin's Institutes of the Christian Religion and read, study, and pray the Scriptures. Micah 6:8!
I don’t want to think this but it’s seems the elders of the church are being vague because there maybe more women involved and major legal action could be taken. Also maybe Lawson is threatening to expose the dirt he has on other reformed pastors or Christians that he knows unless they “play ball” with him.
Within the Reformed Calvinistic world you get one of two kinds of pride: Open pride = James White or pride disguised as (false) humility = Justin Peters.
I heard you say something I disagree with. It’s not a biblical issue. I just chose to close out the video. That’s another blessing of being older. Hearing something that’s either ‘non-essential’ or hearing something that’s a personal disagreement. In the end, leading ppl to Christ & making disciples + glorifying God & enjoying Him forever. Those are issues that matter in my 3 foot circle. Lord Bless

As someone who has done some pretty bad sins while calling myself Christian I would say you just compartmentalize it. Keep no secrets and confess your sins to ONE ANOTHER to be healed as James says. Just confessing it to God and keeping secrets didn't work for me.

James White is as disqualified as Lawson, only for arrogance and pride. And, it would be interesting to see in detail James Whites finances as a matter of voluntary accountability. But, don't hold your breath.
As someone who has spent several hours 1-on-1 with James White, sadly I can confirm that he is extremely arrogant and proud and self-absorbed. I was shocked and put off of his ministry because of it.
The point is GOD requires holiness , righteousness to all believers and GOD require you all more who preaches the word of GOD . When the person is not serious about GOD 's ministry , then they will fall .

What's the problem with Steve Lawson? Look regarding his wife, the bloom is off the rose and the old man needed a new bouquet. In all seriousness, can we now properly designate Steve Lawson as a covenant breaker? Romans 1:31. Divorce is not necessary to apply the moniker. Why don't we teach what Malachi preached: Because the LORD has been a witness between you and the wife of your youth, against whom you have dealt treacherously, though she is your companion and your wife by covenant. Malachi 2:14

Still sick to my stomach over this. Isaiah 2:22. Psalm 146:3 He was long of of my favorite contemporary pastors/theologians, and it was certainly cool to see and hear both him (and James White!) at G3. Having said that, eternal salvation doesn’t negate earthly consequences; his privilege to lead a local church is now gone forever. As a side note, I will say it’s interesting what James said here, toward the end, regarding conferences, etc. When we were at G3, Lawson was the only speaker with a small entourage/escort and who would not stay around to talk to guests, have pictures taken, sign anything, etc. Certainly not a “red flag”, but noteworthy.
No, I certainly wouldn’t say a “hero” (I went back to make sure I didn’t use that word, prior to my reply). I said he was one of my favorite contemporary theologians. He was a sinner saved by God’s grace, at least he claimed to be. Now he has to face the earthly consequences due to his wicked sin. Christ is my sole hero, as He alone saved a wretch like me.
The carnality that Paul speaks of is not the kind described by those who believe in carnal Christianity. He is speaking of the struggle with sin that is ongoing in the believer's life and the immaturity that exists when the believer has not grown in the faith as he should have. he Apostle Paul referred to the Corinthians as "carnal" in 1 Corinthians 3:1-4 to describe their spiritual immaturity and carnal behavior, but not to say they were not saved. Paul's point was that it was understandable for new Christians to be "fleshy" or "sarkinos", but that it was blameworthy and inexcusable for those who had been Christians for some time to be characterized by the flesh. Paul's description of carnality is different from the doctrine of the "carnal Christian" that some teach today. The doctrine of the "carnal Christian" teaches that a person can be saved by the Holy Spirit without changing, and that there is a second stage where lordship is introduced on the throne of the soul.

1️⃣ Probably the most hypocritical take on Lawson. Can White say that he never has a lustful thought (which is as bad as adultery according to Jesus Mt5:28)? 2️⃣ If my pastor/preacher disappoints me, is that because the Calvinistic Reformed Theology god has decreed that I should be disappointed by this Calvinistic Reformed preacher who's carrying out his disappointing sin, in order to bring glory to the Calvinistic Reformed god by compatibilistically obeying this god's predestined decree to commit that sin?
Counter to what JW said here, I’ve heard from other pastors here on YT who’ve attended conferences with Lawson, that he did not just hang out in the “green room,” rather that he did stay and interact with attendees. I guess they attended different conferences with Lawson. Personally I don’t think heaping coals on Lawson’s head is particularly helpful at this moment.
I can only personally attest from my own experience that my family and I attended the G3 national conference last September, Lawson was one of several high profile speakers, and he was literally the only one who had an “entourage”, so to speak, and would not engage or speak with any attendees. Virgil Walker, James Coates, Justin Peters, Darrell Harrison, Paul Washer, Emilio Ramos, & Phil Johnson on the other hand, were all very friendly and engaging.
One thing is very clear: God did not decree from the foundation of the world, for Lawson to commit this sin. God did not lead Lawson to do this. Gods free will is clear, we are free to be a slave to Him and not to do whatever we want. Lawson proved Calvinism is false to say the least.
@@haleysmith8778 Correct. Nothing about what happened disproves Calvinism. @oterosocram25 Pre-ordaining the presence of evil is NOT the same thing as being the CAUSE of evil, nor is it the same thing as APPROVING evil. God merely ALLOWED evil. Even Arminians must confess that God had the power, ability, and opportunity to prevent evil from entering His creation. He also foreknew what would happen, yet He created Adam and Eve anyway. Why? Answer: I believe God created a perfect world, allowing it to fall so that He could send Jesus and show just how loving, just, merciful, forgiving, and patient He is. When Adam and Eve sinned, God did not require a backup plan. What Christ did was predestined by God to happen (see Acts 4:27-28). Everything God does, in the ultimate sense, He does for His glory. It is beyond the scope of this comment to fully explain this subject. For a more detailed explanation, check out: “The End for Which God Created the World” By: Jonathan Edwards. As RC Sproul put it: “Nothing is more proper than for a perfect being to work all things for the exaltation of His perfection and righteousness.” For a more detailed explanation of Calvinism, I highly recommend checking out “The Potter’s Freedom” by James R. Write, and “Chosen By God” by RC Sproul. If you don’t have time to read, I believe there is a video playlist called “Chosen By God” on UA-cam.
@@haleysmith8778 oh I absolutely do. I go to a reform church, I’m surrounded by Calvinists and reflect on it and have conversations quite regularly, Bottom line is, God is not a fatalistic nor deterministic God. Gods great Grace give us the freewill to chose Him and His ways, If we really love Him we will follow His commandments. Lawson could have chosen to do otherwise, praying and confessing with to his wife, either confessing his sins to his accountability groups if he had any, he could’ve departed from early red flags, but just like David, Lawson chose wrong, carefully, willfully and intentionally wrong. At least the TULIP is out the window with Lawson and people like him. We pray for him and we learn and are humble by this situation.
@oterosocram25 of course man has free will in terms of making day to day, moment by moment decisions. And yes, Lawson made the choice to sin. You have a wrong understanding of TULIP if you think we don't believe men choose whether or not to sin. Now, when it comes to salvation, men are dead in their sins and tresspasses therefore, cannot choose God until God changes the heart. Christ died for His people, and all that the Father gave to Him WILL come to Him. God's sovereign will has 2 components active and passive. It is active in the salvation of men, He alone does that work and it is passive when it comes to men's choice to sin or obey. Nothing happens outside of His knowledge and through His sovereign will, whether active or passive, He works all things together for good to those who love Him.
@@haleysmith8778 I have tried but I just don’t agree, I believe God has already done the work to make “His invisible attributes clearly seen” so that “no one is without excuse” this is clearly what Romans 1 teaches. I don’t see in scripture that God has to change the heart first for men to respond to the call. Faith comes by hearing, hearing the word of Christ IF YOU confess with your mouth that Jesus is Savior IF YOU believe with your heart that God raised from the dead You shall be saved… For whosoever believes in Him… This doesn’t really aligned with man being so depraved that they can’t respond unless God changes the heart first. just like an unbeliever that yearns and hurts when a son or a daughter are in a terminal illness situation, for as much as he wants to deny it, deep within him there is this light of hope and faith to see his children be well, that I believe it clearly demonstrates that since we have all been created in His image, all have the ability to chose and respond to the call of the Gospel, this completely erases the total depravity subject.

So many Arminian “Christian’s” commit sin and fall as preachers and no one cares, but a reformed man does it and it’s a “Calvinist” issue? How ignorant and silly people are. Where is your mercy, to pick up a brother.
Within the Reformed Calvinistic world you get one of two kinds of pride:
Open pride = James White
or pride disguised as (false) humility = Justin Peters.
I heard you say something I disagree with. It’s not a biblical issue. I just chose to close out the video.

He was long of of my favorite contemporary pastors/theologians, and it was certainly cool to see and hear both him (and James White!) at G3.

Christ is my sole hero, as He alone saved a wretch like me.
The Reformed camp has no room for carnal Christians - even though Paul called described them as Christians.
@@rhondae8222 Paul knew we are saved by faith after hearing the good news of free gift of salvation - some Christians were involved in adultery incest he calls them brothers and said they are still worldly. The irony of being a hardcore Calvinist and dealing with worry is ironic.
The problem is that people but a high expectation in one man , when in reality this expectation are also expected from any other true believer . It’s don’t better where you stand in the ministry..
No, the expectation for church leaders is first and foremost God’s and is plainly provided in His Word.

Calvinists would not presume to answer the questions of eternal judgment that clearly are God’s domain.
@wanda520 but Steven Lawson and other calvinist preachers do that very thing all the time. It's a fair question for the OP to ask

Shocker. Calvinism is hypocritical.
So are you.
Its a cancer, and yes the "lord" of calvinism is Lucifer.
We don't believe in Reformed Theology because of Lawson; we believe it because we see it as biblical doctrine.
Shocker. We are all hypocrites.

I am very disappointed by this issue but also by the silence of so many. This is worse than the Alister Begg situation and everyone but James White is avoiding this.
💯.
Equally as disappointing, but far worse that Begg.
Yup. Calvinists seem to only be silent on their own. But they are the quickest to blast and fire shots at us charismatics.
The silence may be that there is no debate. Nobody is defending Lawson. With Begg there was at least some debate as to the right and wrong. Church members wanted guidance on the matter. Nobody needs guidance here, we all know it was wrong.
@@ProphetGreg94 because you are heretical and unsaved. So Christ line of you to come here to pile on. Was that really going to change anyones opinion of you.
WHAT? This isn’t even remotely as bad as Begg. Lawson committed a sexual sin. Forgivable. All pastors lust, lie, covet, hate. They’re sinners. Begg taught a false gospel by approving habitual sin in homosexuality and gay marriages. That’s contrary to scripture leading the sheep astray. How can you be ignorant of the scriptures? Lawson should never preach again, but it’s nothing to what Begg is DOING present tense. He never repented of his continual sin in false teaching.
Such a sad day. But also a wonderful knowledge that our God is merciful and gracious. Steve is forgiven. His eternal state is secure. And in that we should rejoice.

Pastor Steven Lawson is not saved!
We dont know enouggh yet to draw any conclusion.
More information was released that this was an ongoing affair of 5 years with a women in her 20s.
@DANIELRODRIGUEZ-yr3et Did he meet her 5 years ago for the first time? Is "5 years" the length of the emotional affair? Were there texts? If so, what were the nature of them? How often, if ever, did they see each other?
He's in his 70s. Is he even capable of having sex? How did the father come to know? Did his daughter go to him? Did he catch them together? Did he see the texts?
Did Steve Lawson confess the relationship was romantic or inappropriate, or is he defending himself.

We shouldn’t put our hope in any man or woman.
Isaiah 2:22. Psalm 146:3.
@patrickc3419 I know. I looked at how people have responded to Dr. Lawson and it's mostly "I am disappointed, I am shocked". People reacted as such because they put high hope on a man. Dr. James White has many followers. He's stilled a man.
@@phillip6078
And I agree with you on that 💯.
When I say I’m disappointed or shocked, I am just conveying that it’s saddening to witness a theologian who I looked up to to inspiration, biblical insight, etc. to crash so badly and unexpectedly. I remember seeing and hearing him last year at G3.
But yes, we absolutely should not put faith in mere men, and maybe I have been guilty of that as well.
Dr. White, i am very grateful for your faithfulness to Christ and your wife. I am praying for you. Stay the course, brother.
What do you mean "stay the course"? Is he "on course" by his power or is he being preserved by the power of God (in case he's a Christian)?

White is a Calvinite who believes and preaches that the Calvinite god DETERMINES ALL EVIL!!! ALL SEXUAL SIN. ALL CHILD RAPE . He is a blasphemous wolf. Calvinism is ANOTHER GOSPEL. Galatians 1:8
So, my question is did God decree that Lawson cheat on his family?, lie to his wife and friends? deceive his congregation? all for His glory?
Not sure I’d say decree but definitely allowed, just as He did with David and still used his words for Holy scripture.
Have no doubt that God will be glorified even in a situation as terrible as this. Sometimes it's hard to imagine or understand.
Yes. Yes. Yes. Can we stop with the vindictive questions now? Would you rather it be that God did not will that? Was He slow to or unable to expose it then?
All glory to the Calvinistic Reformed Theology god, who seeks glory in decreeing men to commit all the sins which he himself says men shouldn't commit.
Great ,,,i ask the same,,was he never save?? One day hes the best now he was never a new born?? If it would be living in sin paul washer woul say i was never save,,can they say the same about him?? This does not hit hearts ,this hits ther doctrine,,is he false teacher? A wolf ?? Now white does not no him really good ,he just sw him 5 times,,now hes not a friend for arms ,oh Good pls help this pride man,
1️⃣ Probably the most hypocritical take on Lawson.
I expected this to be a lot simpler . Isn’t the simple explanation that God determine it ! How can Lawson then not do it ?
You're correct and this is where Calvinst theology crumbles and should be rejected.
God is not the author of sin
Scripture clearly does not teach Calvinism.
One thing is very clear:
God did not decree from the foundation of the world, for Lawson to commit this sin.
God did not lead Lawson to do this.
Gods free will is clear, we are free to be a slave to Him and not to do whatever we want.
Lawson proved Calvinism is false to say the least.
One thing is very clear: you don't have an accurate understanding of Calvinism
@@haleysmith8778 Correct. Nothing about what happened disproves Calvinism.
@oterosocram25 Pre-ordaining the presence of evil is NOT the same thing as being the CAUSE of evil, nor is it the same thing as APPROVING evil. God merely ALLOWED evil. Even Arminians must confess that God had the power, ability, and opportunity to prevent evil from entering His creation. He also foreknew what would happen, yet He created Adam and Eve anyway. Why?
Answer:
I believe God created a perfect world, allowing it to fall so that He could send Jesus and show just how loving, just, merciful, forgiving, and patient He is.
As RC Sproul put it:
“Nothing is more proper than for a perfect being to work all things for the exaltation of His perfection and righteousness.”
For a more detailed explanation of Calvinism, I highly recommend checking out “The Potter’s Freedom” by James R. Write, and “Chosen By God” by RC Sproul. If you don’t have time to read, I believe there is a video playlist called “Chosen By God” on UA-cam.
@@haleysmith8778 oh I absolutely do. I go to a reform church, I’m surrounded by Calvinists and reflect on it and have conversations quite regularly,
Bottom line is, God is not a fatalistic nor deterministic God.
Faith comes by hearing, hearing the word of Christ
IF YOU confess with your mouth that Jesus is Savior
IF YOU believe with your heart that God raised from the dead
You shall be saved…
For whosoever believes in Him…
This doesn’t really aligned with man being so depraved that they can’t respond unless God changes the heart first.
just like an unbeliever that yearns and hurts when a son or a daughter are in a terminal illness situation, for as much as he wants to deny it, deep within him there is this light of hope and faith to see his children be well, that I believe it clearly demonstrates that since we have all been created in His image, all have the ability to chose and respond to the call of the Gospel, this completely erases the total depravity subject.
