Battle of Aughrim - Celtic Guitar - traditional Irish music
Вставка
- Опубліковано 28 гру 2009
- This here is a traditional piece of Irish music entitled "The Battle of Aughrim", named for the bloodiest battle in Irish history in which the Jacobite Army was defeated by the Williamite army and, subsequently, Ireland fell into control of the English (12 July 1691).
This arrangement is based on the one I learned from Glenn Weiser. I recorded another version on a nylon guitar that is a bit softer, but this is a passionate tune so perhaps it's more suitable on the steel string. I'm still trying to figure out how to get the best sound recording with my Camcorder so it's a learning process. Thanks for listening check my page for more.
Watching these videos is so bittersweet.
🥲
RIP Jeff, thank you for all the fun moments and the knowledge you shared with us.

@@jonnathanwebber5604 Do you know if he been dealing with health issues or was his passing sudden? Very sad......
@@GnLguy In his latest videos said he has painful headaches. On Christmas he suffered an aneurysm.

All my compliments for this beautiful irish tune!... Bravo!
luca
Love this..
Это прекрасно! Великолепно! (PERFECT)
The guitar is not a Celtic music instrument, which is more of flutes and drums. I really admire people that can play and arrange celtic music on the guitar, there should be more of this. So rare with so much to explore.
Very nice piece. To anyone else interested in playing it, It's in standard tuning, in the key of Am (the melody itself starts on middle A). In the second line of the melody the Gmaj chord is used, and later Cmaj and Em as well. It's fairly straightforward to play when you recognise that it's essentially operating within those chords. Not sure if the arrangement is copyrighted--if not I'd put some Tab together.
beautiful
This is hot. I’m going to learn this master work.
Very nice, I wish had musical talent.
Love this one... Thanks a lot, I'm gonna now make it in a celtic black metal version!!!! 😈💥🐺🔥🔥🔥🔥⚡⚔
I can't believe how you play the bass notes and melody at the same time, nice work
Your Welcome. The Main Point: Really like this tune and the kid does a good job with it IMO !
So hearing this kind of music one gets the feeling of spirit that awakens ghosts of past ancestors.
I walk away with the feeling of " Up the Republic ! " Anyway thanks for your input on the Irish history part. Cheers
Celtic music I love.
Great playing, good sir. I just rediscovered the Celtic music, myself. Hopefully get to post a video soon.
i like the way that harmonic is incorporated :)
trying to download on my hard drive so i can learn...this is my HUGE GOAL right now!

i love it
I believe this was the song that Hans Zimmer incorporated into The Lone Ranger soundtrack...
Beautiful.
This arrangement is from Celtic Guitar Encyclopedia by Glenn Weiser. It’s standard tuning.
Nice Christmas tree.
lol

thank you very much, great sound, great video !!!!!!!!!
ralph, verona, italy
No kidding, I got the tabs been playing this since early 90's. The book is somewhere in the bookshelves
AWESOME!!!...:D
I really like the strong attack. Great sounding guitar and well played.
i love this its beautiful great job bro please teach me your ways lol
@MrMetalheart10
I think it reflects the similarity in our culture, but the difference in geography and how thats affected it slightly. We're on an island so we're pretty well defended, but you're attached to england and always had to fight people coming up from the south. So although we have the same sort of humour and social stuff like ceilidh-s, the scots have a little rough side to them that's reserved for the english and the rest of the world... you love it
this is really good :)
How is it that two of the most beautiful Irish tunes - the Battle of Aughrim and For Ireland's Glory are about the Williamite Wars? These were starker times than most people realize in Irish History. Must be something about this event the strike's very deep into Irish senses. I walked the battlefield of Aughrim some years ago on a trip to Ireland. You could hear a whisper the place was so quiet.
Hello :)
Beautifully play and also melody is beautiful. I'd asked for tablature if possible .
Greetings from Polish ;)
siejkowa *poland
just what a needed to hear after a shite day, nice one mate. love from Liverpool ;) x

luca
That was great!!!
@roboczyroboczy EBGDAE is standard tuning (going from the highest pitched string to the lowest)- there's no H in music it goes a-g then stars again at a (well g# if you want to be technical with it heh).
not the song i was trying to find. but good job. guitar sounds nice
Those who choose to commemorate William's Victory do it by marching in Uniform through various parts of NI (often through Irish areas where the people do not wish to participate) which unfortunately detracts away from what could be a great way to commemorate an eventful part of Irish History. I hope this helps.
It's fucking beautiful. I love it.
that was amazing!!!!
buy the book he recommends and learn it. IF you already know the basics this one isnt that hard. I like his ornamentation, he did a real nice job on this.
Deadly!
BlackDog thanks for sharing!!
Very nice. Well done. I was wondering what all the coloured lights reflected on the head of your guitar eere, until I saw the date you posted this!!!! Merry Christmas!!!
really rootsy! Very nice!
