Frosty’s second round was so unbelievably overkill he had no business doing all that after Rythmind went overtime 💀.
Actually, Brez said in is reaction of this battle that Rythmind didn't know it was a top 8 battle. He was ready for a top 4, which was originally planned, but no one from SBX told him it would be a top 8. It was only 3 weeks before the GBB that he found out, so he only has his elim and 2 round vs Brez ready. If you want more details, check out the video of Brez reacting to this battle, he talks about it just after the judges' decision. That's why Rythmind rounds are not good enough

Ive had it once happen at one of my first events where we stated in video and text that we only allowed 1 device for the loop category so it was only rc505. He didnt read them and he structured his rounds with his second device. After that its the organizers that should give the message to all competitors. Even verbally, through DMS or a mail.
Since then I had barely no mistakes at at any of my events. So in Rythmind situation i think its both of thier faults. But more the organizers. 80/20 split for me.
This battle was absolutely fucked. I remember i felt almost a blackout sensation during frosty's 2nd round because it was that good! And yes me and Rick did go out to smoke after the 2nd round hahaha

41:44 I think I can maybe pinpoint why Rap vs Beatbox battles might feel different: it's because while I'm sure there are some battle rappers that can incorporate some singing or maybe even using a melody using pitch, beatboxing (With guys like Show-Go) and specially looping battles can, and often do, go 100% in a direction where is just far more melody driven: the aforementioned singing done all the way since MB14 (Though only on *some* of his rounds, some of them were pretty much 100% rhythmic in nature) and hearing modern day melody based loopers like well, Chris TheOdian or Robin come to mind and even some that just stick to fairly narrow, more melody oriented (but maybe not melody-driven or based around just melody per-se) Loopers that pretty much stick to House rounds and such.
Since a lot more different types of beatboxers and loopers it feels *different* where it's not a simple of matter of who's got the hottest drops, best rhythmic ideas, etc. Some can (And according to GBB2023 judges absolutely do) win without actually *battling* their oponent more than just outperforming them musically or in production.

I feel like both rythminds rounds were strong, if executed properly. However frosty's rounds were on a different level, especially his 2nd round

Tbf, for example in "Killshot", Eminem reuses the "I wrote it on a starter cap" line he previously wrote in "Stan".
You could argue that's a reference more than reusing it, but he also quite often reuses "I'm just playing ladies, you know I love you". Even though he creates a new variation each time, but that's still kind of the same bar really...
I'm not necessarely trying to say that this is right or wrong though, and I'm not necessarely that knowledgeable either, just thought it was worth pointing it out 🙂
Good reference. But this is a song reference. It’s like an easter egg for the core fans. A battle is a different scenario in my opinion, since it’s being judged in different ways.

Their voice sounds better in ear. Has to be, there are too many loopers throwing me off with their singing. Some of them are finalists or have won btw. Not naming because i know ppl will be salty xD

Sometimes I too cringe at mediocre singing in Loopstation but man.. Looping without singing would hurt the variety and originality a lot. You dont have to be a good singer to make it work imo.
