Welcome to film Leica! I’ve been rocking film Leicas for over 2 decades, and although I have the Q2, M11…. The MP is still my fave street machine. I get more keepers on that than any other.

At 3:06 Kenny told you to wind it once; you don’t need to do that! That’s not what the instructions say! The beauty of Leica’s is you just place the bottom plate on _without winding_ and the film will be taken up properly because of the prongs and the wheel on the bottom plate. It’s designed to “just work”, and it’s why it’s so much faster to load an M than an SLR. As long as you have the film leader in the prongs, you’re good to go 😊
Exactly, just pay attention that the rewind knob is spinning during advancing. This way you can get 37 or 38 shots out of a roll.

@@fIysohigh it’s funny because as dumb as it is, the film loading process is probably the second biggest value proposition for a Leica over an SLR, to me. The top one is the quiet cloth shutter, which is only found on older SLR models. It’s not even the tiny lenses haha.
@@StuartWeirit’s not really the cloth shutter that makes Leica’s quiet, it’s the lack of mirror slap. That’s why even modern Leica’s with metal shutters are still very quiet.

With a top shutter-speed of 1/1000 the M6 is about as practical as a coffee mug with a 2" diameter hole in it's base, you'd be better off taking photos with your fart

@@niftyfiftyfilm4457 If one has the option to shoot above 1/1000 sec one can shoot during the height of a Summer afternoon instead of returning several hours later close to sunset. Therefore my opinion on film Leica Ms is valid.

If you develop yourself, best leave the filmtip outside of the can. Makes it easier to wind it on the development spool.

Super nice video dude, is it me or did you miss focus on loads of these? Can't tell but some are super soft / underexposed with the typical green 35mm shadow look when under ex. Weird because you would have thought 800 would have been perfectly fine with that light to stop down your glass a fair bit and get most of the scene in focus. What res were your scans? Hopefully they were tiffs. :/
Hey mate, definitely some of these could have missed focus! I've never zoned at 35mm so they won't be perfect. Yep some of these were under exposed as well. Thanks for watching!
@@MikeChudley dude i was missing shots all over the shop when i tried to use a rangefinder after going from a slr so i feel you haha. shots are wicked though! if your to get into 35 RF then try out the Canon P. i had it and it’s got the LTM lens so you can stick voightlander, leica or canon glass on it. superrrrr cheap too like £300 and built like a tank.

ahhh man, I didn't even think of Mango at the time. Top Tier fruit for sure.
Interesting video. I think film is like people getting excited over vinyl records. More expensive, lower quality and incredibly inconvenient. If I was ever to use film again, I would not get a M6, and I am a Leica Q2 and Q3 owner. I would get a Nikon or Canon and shoot in automatic or semi-automatic mode. If you used the Q2, every shot would have looked substantially better.
haha I pretty much agree. The only thing that was better was the experience.
I disagree. The medium doesn’t define how good or bad a photograph is. They’re just different. If it’s a bad image on film, it’ll be bad on digital and vice versa. If you meant the images he took would’ve been sharper and higher resolution you’d be right, but these characteristics don’t change the content and quality of the images. With that logic, it would be like looking at photography from some of the greats (Bresson, Salgado, Parks, etc) and saying if only they took those pictures with a Leica q2 or q3, they would be better. It’s a laughable and incredibly dumb comment. Spend some time actually learning about photography and not just about the gear. The camera is just a tool to create photographs, so try focusing less on the box that captures the light and instead on making good images with that tool. I shoot documentary with my Leica q2 and q2 monochrom as well as my Leica M-A with a 28mm elmarit daily and the images look almost identical in content and composition, they only look different in style. If your camera is the main driver for the quality of your photos, you need to get better at making photos.

All film cameras are about same in quality of images! Leica is great for reprtage! This was not reportage but happy snappy! Any older SLR Canon, Nikon, Pentax would do the same! Cost a fraction! I own Leica-M but prefer SLR. Your pix OK.

I’ll have you know that in the early days of photography 1/1000 shutter speed was the bee’s knees.

@@pepsiplease69 Slow top shutter-speed limits the camera use, in the distant past of 19th century there wasn't the need for a fast shutter-speed. Lastly a top shutter-speed of at least 1/4000 second helps when using a fast lens in very bright conditions; using a ND filter is usually undesirable
