Wow, that gave me goosebumps. Here I am thousands of miles away in Hawaii but I remember Dana growing up watching CBS News in New York. Each time a long-time anchor retires I feel like a piece of my childhood is being put away. Thank you Dana Tyler and wishing you nothing but the BEST!!
Congratulations to Dana Tyler on 34 excellent years at WCBS-TV! I grew up watching since I was nine years old, and that was 28 years ago! Shame on the station for abruptly kicking her to the curb like this, which just so happens to be the same week WNBC is celebrating 50 years of Chuck Scarborough. Dana is a class act journalist and person and has had quite a run!
When a person knows it's time, it's time. WHNT-TV in Huntsville, AL just finished with Jerry Hayes after 45 years. No kick from the station, they wanted him to stay. He wanted to see his Grandkids and go places, do things without the crunch time of news.
And Dana was one of the very few WCBS anchors who survived the 1996 “massacre”, in which low ratings sent several others packing (including the late Michele Marsh, who went to WNBC).
Dana Tyler is a CBS2 Legend. Watched her at the noon shows in the past with Maurice Dubois, and the 6 and 11pm shows with Reggie Harris, Stephen Clark, Ernie Anastos, Jim Rosenfield, Don Dahler, and Dick Brennan. Shes one of the Best. Thanks for the stories, and enjoy your life. 😊❤
Dear Dana, We just watched your eloquent, authentic and yes deeply touching final sign off. When we lived in N.J. you and the CBS family became part of our extended family. You graciously shared pictures with us at the Komen Race, you unselvishly took time out from one of your busy jogs to sign an autograph. We identified with your values and knew you were continually seeking the truth in your journalistic reporting. You will be missed. Sincerely, Pat and Carrie Pinto💕
Happy retirement Ms.Dana Tyler you're truly a huge success. As a black man I am absolutely proud of your positive and powerful representation of our race. Your ability to provide accurate news and longevity in the business of journalism has definitely open doors of opportunity for the next generation of women news reporters. The reason why.I made this particular statement because I am a strong supporter of the advancement of women in the workplace. Yes I am a male but I believe that women should be treated fairly in terms of job promotions and opportunities. Thank you for your 34 years of service to the public. God bless you and your family. Special thanks to your colleagues for a job well done , great coverage based on the early and lateral stages of your remarkable career.
As a Viewer in the Philadelphia area I have frequently watched cbs 2 New York online i loved to watch Dana Tyler I will definitely miss watching Dana Tyler I really wished you could have made it to 40 years at that station but you did an amazing job 34 years at one station is amazing I felt your heartfelt emotional goodbye thank you Dana Tyler for your service in journalism. I hope you will be on another station in the New York area. Job well done Ms Tyler!!
I remember her FIRST day at WCBS-TV!! I was an intern in Station Services and Advertising. It was a big deal when she arrived. In the legacy of Carol Martin, Dana was the IT GIRL. Beautiful and talented! I passed her many times in the newsroom. A very nice lady!! Many happy returns, Madam Tyler. Happy Retirement!! 🎉😊😮
When I watched this last night, I was about to cry because what a lovely person you were over the past 30+ years! I was shocked to see many newscasts I haven’t seen in years, especially the ones with the late Michelle and Reggie. Thank you so much Dana, and we'll never forget your lovely on air presence. hey, at least we still have Kristine Johnson.
Terrific career. Fabulous woman. Started watching her when she came to NYC, and I was just a teen. I'm 51 now, and although I don't live in NY anymore, anytime I go to visit family/friends, it was always great to see Ms. Tyler's welcoming face on the TV screen.
I have watched Dana for decades and wish her the best in whatever her new venture will be. THANK YOU Dana for all you’ve done to make the tri state news more enjoyable with your dedication and professionalism! 🎉❤
Job well done you are the Best, you have me cracking up in your Oustanding professionalism. The news will never be the same. When I change the channel I would stop to listen if you were on. I wish you only the best for you going forward the news will never be the same.
You signed on when I was 9 years old; now I'm 43 and watching you ride off into the sunset. You were always there when I was growing up in NY, one of the first women I ever really noticed on the news as a child. It made an impression on me (not just because I was a girl with the same surname) and I always thought that journalists could be anyone - any gender or race or walk of life - because of you. Please embrace and enjoy your well-earned retirement. We'll miss you!
Growing up here in Columbus, it was like she was here forever when actually it was probably just a short time. Nostalgia distorts the truth. Salute to you Dana!!
I remember she was off TV for a while and I kept asking what happened to her .. the news wasn’t the same without her. To kept an only two jobs that’s an extraordinary milestone. Poise beauty and brain love you Girl enjoy your next chapter ❤
Congratulations Dana on a phenomenal career at CBS New York. It was a pleasure watching you on tv growing up. Happy retirement. Thanks for the memories and good luck in your future endeavors ❤️.
Good job! great speach! I am glad you got a nice and appropriate send off from CBS. some newscasters simply disappear and no explanation is given. and nice that you were able to stay at one place for so long. we wish you the best!
Dana, you will be so missed at CBS2. You were an amazing part of my evening routine when I was in elementary school and have and always will be the greatest to step foot into the newsroom

What an amazing 34 years Dana!! Congrats. Happy Trails!!! Gonna miss hearing your reactions and support you continue to give especially the Broadway Theater community!!
Miss you Dana. I was on vacation when you retired. After coming back I did not see you on the news. I was wondering. And just found out that you retired. Enjoy your retirement, you earned it. All the best for ever.
I used to watch Channel 2 News a lot and remember how emotional she was when she had the opportunity to meet Pope John Paul II. About 99% of the time when I watched her on Channel 2 I didn't consider her an African American or Black newscaster, I was impressed by her on screen beauty.
I grew out of you. Long gone are the days Bob Parker fed into the news. You are of an era I thought highly of. I am grateful you were there for me and for many others. And yes, I was close with your competitors, too--you excelled to your last minute Goodbye.

Thank you Dana. I watched you in the news ever since you arrived in New York. I will miss you anchoring the 6 o’clock local news.
Best wishes in your retirement. 34 years is a lifetime. She was on Ch 2 longer than the late Jim Jensen who made it the station.
I was just thinking about this. Dana - to my knowledge- is the last on-air link to the time Jim Jensen was at WCBS.

Happy Retirement, Dana Tyler! You are a class act. We will miss you!!❤🙏
They did another Sue Simmons what a shame, do I think she doesn’t smile sure, but she didn’t deserve this.
I know!! Too soon! And it’s true that she doesn’t smile.
Hold on is she being fired? Isn't she like retiring?
Sue will be on a special honoring Chuck Scarborough tomorrow on NBC at 7am.
I will always remember her chipmunk face making 😂😂😂😂
@@moniho6907 Yeah, they told her to.
@@moniho6907 They demoted her to being just a reporter. Instead of doing that, she decided to walk away.
Congratulations Dana Tyler on 34 years
Awwwww wishing Dana all of the best. A true class act 🌸🌸🌸🌸
We love you Dana Tyler! Thank you! ❤❤❤
Channel 2 pushed her out. This wasn’t her choice. They decided to remove her from the anchor desk. I don’t blame her for leaving
