    On top of a 3 hour render I realized there were some things I noticed I explained poorly and just kinda rambled at times, so I will summarize how I race the following horses.
    CONTROL: Control determines how fast your magic pick up is. Try to stay in 5th-1st place. Look for boostholder's and bolt them. Overall just try and be a powerhouse when it comes to taking out opponents and defending my teammate in first place from harm. Takes roughly 9 seconds to pick up a spell with 'Magic bar increases faster' armor set at a dead run.
    SPEED: Speed determines how powerful your horses boosts are. If not in the front far ahead, almost ALWAYS be back in 8th-6th place trying to get a boost. Try to perform a double boost (boost in front of a dropper and try and get a second boost once the first runs out. Takes roughly 16? seconds to pick up a spell with 'Magic bar increase faster' armor set on at a dead run.
    HYBRID: Mix of both Control and Speed and can vary based on racer's preference. Can be in any position during the race, but always trying to make the most of whatever spell I have and boost holding when in a position to. All around usually. 70c/70s takes roughly 11/12 seconds to pick up a spell with 'Magic bar increases faster' armor set on at a dead run.
    I hope this explained a little bit better, if not feel free to reply to this and I'll answer any questions asked. :)

      Do you have any tips on how to better use spells? I've been playing Alicia for a long time but wins are still rare for me. It has to be something to do with how I play.
      How long should I wait before I use certain spells? What are optimal moments to use spells? I seriously need help if I don't want to abandon Alicia for the umpteenth time.

    as someone who breed purely for speed, this is pretty accurate. Although we speed magic players cant really do much without at least one boost (crit holy hylia) being a glass cannon is fun.

      I used to be only a speed racer and although I can still do speed, I was so much better at it like 2 years ago :’). Mad respect for anyone who does it

      MakkachinAO i still do speed every now and then, currently working on my bunny hop and slowly going to drifthopping. i also play magic (teams) alot! (mostly in 8/8 and 50+ rooms) hopefully i might find you in a room or vice versa. (PitXRoxas#9242 AO101 server btw)

      Pit X Roxas I meant speed stat oops...! but yes I am not very good at speed racing but I really should try it more. If I’m online I’m almost always in rooms 1001-1005. I’m in that server but not so active rn but maybe I’ll see you around!

    even after 3 years, this is still pretty accurate. i spent my first year maining control, and learning how to predict other players, and use my magic as beneficial as i could. and not longer after, i switched to speed full time, as i enjoyed the ability to hold in the front, and essentially be a tank for my team, while they did the crucial work of keeping the rest of the players off of me for as long as possible.
    lately however, i have tried my hand at using a speed and agility split stat, with more points into the speed, as im still heavily reliant on it. and i will say, its kind of an underrated line-up. while boosts arent as strong, you are much more tankier with the agility, as it increases shield duration, and crit shield chance. which is pretty important when trying to stay in the front, and shield as many attacks as possible. but another great bonus to agility, is the sliding. you dont lose as much speed while doing so, and making those very quick tight turns are important to keeping distance. the less speed loss makes the other team take a tiny bit long to catch up to you.
    ive also found the pharaoh armor to be pretty nice, as it gives 8 points to agility, 10 to speed, and 10 to control, along with a chance of critical spells.

    I started playing about a week and a half ago, I want to get into magic team racing because I think I’ve finally gotten the hang of it. My level of skill which is beginner to medium I’d say which would be the best stat for me? Maybe speed, control split? I could experiment a bit but I’d rather just know what’s good already lmao

    • @Makkachin

      Honestly, I’d suggest when just starting out in teams to go with full control. You’re still learning how to use every item advantageously and a control horse is a great place to learn it on. There is a sort of ‘responsibility’ that comes with being a speed or hybrid- that being that you need to be going back and trying to win by boost. As long as you’re playing in rooms that don’t have a level requirement and aren’t super competitive, you can’t go wrong with control. It’s basically just guaranteeing yourself a spell as fast as possible. If you’re feeling confident and you know how to boost hold, a hybrid also wouldn’t be a bad choice. I just personally wouldn’t recommend full speed as starting because it’s better to practice on a hybrid before trying to competitively race on a full speed where you have to focus everything into boosts if that makes sense.

    Up until last year I only bred control. Midt july I deiced to start up a speedline of blue roans and now I got both pure ctrl and speed horses. I do semi good with speed, still need to learn but I’m getting there. All are maxed speed and all my ctrl line is mostly 120, 2 is 119 control. I like em both so I bred both

    Stats can be so confusing with Alicia for me. One of my horses is fully speed(like complete max 120 on speed) and yet in both magic and speed i always seem to end up in the back or completely times out. I always end up racing people who are so fast I get a timed out before I can even do anything. Kinda ends up making racing less fun.

    • @Makkachin
      @Makkachin  3 роки тому +3

      That is rather strange? There is no stat that increases your horses base speed (how fast it runs), the only thing that increases your horses base speed is it’s grade. That’s the only thing that immediately comes to mind when you mention being timed out, although it is worth mentioning that most people who race speed races are incredibly good at timing their boosts and can get super far ahead, so magic singles are far more beginner friendly. My advice to you in this situation would be to try and get the highest grade horse you can so the base speed is higher, that and make sure you are using the dashing properly so you can slide around corners and not crash into them. Also, I think it’d be worth mentioning that the speed stat only affects critical boost chance and boost duration in only MAGIC races, (not your horses speed) so you might find it more worthwhile to put points/breed for something else like control but obviously it’s ultimately up to you

  • @ReusableSalad
    @ReusableSalad 4 роки тому +1

    If I don’t have much agility I always crash into walls and it’s embarrassing, but it might be how I’m turning or the angle of my turns and slides?

    • @Makkachin
      @Makkachin  3 роки тому +2

      It’s been a while since I’ve struggled with sliding around corners, but I have no problem sliding without any agility :’) Sometimes you need to perform a double dash to get around tighter corners ! There’s a tutorial for this in tutorial under ‘trainining’ in the ranch menu

    What about the other stats that aren't control or speed?

    • @Makkachin
      @Makkachin  3 роки тому +3

      All of the other stats (Strength, Spirit, Agility) do not have a very helpful effect in magic races and are not worth putting points into because of this. Strength increases your chance of a critical Phoenix feather, but consider how difficult it is to get them it’s not worth training in. Agility increases your chance of a critical shield and shield duration, but once again theres no use for unless you’re in first place and maintain first place for a long time, which is difficult to do on a horse that isn’t speed. And spirit increases the chance of critical ice, which once again is not a very convenient stat to have if your magic pick up is slow or you’re not in first a lot. That’s not to say these stats aren’t useful in speed races, but they’re not useful in magic races. Hope I explained that okay

    Okay, I do team magic races and I've been keeping speed as my highest stat. Yet, I come in last place every single race. Am I doing my stats wrong?? I'm not looking to be first place every time, but I'd like to keep up with everyone.

    • @Makkachin
      @Makkachin  4 роки тому +5

      The amount of speed you have might be the problem? I recommend you have at least 60-120 speed because that’s the range where I begin to notice the effect on my horse. Make sure your stats aren’t split over multiple stats for magic team races, and the horse is solely a speed, control, or hybrid (speed/control split.) In order to win races with boosts on speed horses, you want to ‘time them’ with the magic drops. For example- say you’re in eight place and you have a boost in your hand and you’re coming up on a ‘?’ dropper. Right before you run through the dropper and pick up another spell, start using your first booster. If you’re lucky, you’ll get a second boost from the dropper. Then what you want to do is just try and pass as many people as you can on the distance that first boost gives you. Once that first boost runs out, you then start the second boost and continue trying to get far ahead. That is how a speed horse can be raced to produce the best result. I hope that kind of helps you? I assume there’s not too much lag on your system and the game runs on at least like 25 FPS. If your game is super laggy to the point where things are kinda stop motion, that can also contribute and the only thing I could suggest then is make sure ao is the only app running I guess. My speed only guild mate also has this kinda thing where she either comes in first or dead last, no in between. If you’re just looking to avoid coming in last, id recommend trying to make sure you have a boost at the end of the race. (To do this, you just need to be in 6th-8th place and usually it’ll give you one because it’s the games natural way of helping you ‘keep up’) Sorry if that’s a lot read, but I’m just hoping this answers your question and helps you in some way because I don’t know the exact situation

      『 StarSombry 』 probably :’) you might want to consider saving up again and buying the control or speed horse. That or it might be cheaper to just breed your spirit horse with a 90 control or speed (grade 8 horse) and then just work on breeding that stat progressively higher and higher
