Javascript dom is not a separate thing bro. It's part of javascript. If you want to understand DOM api properly you must know the basics of javascript.
And for a front end developer javascript is a must.

After leaving javascript you must learn at least one javascript framework. For example Angular, React etc. Nowadays most of the websites are built using frameworks. For a front end developer knowing any one framework is also important.
