  • I got tired of using the Kodak 2383 LUT built into Davinci a while back and since I've learned how to emulate film without any outside help. Today I'll be giving a tutorial on how to emulate film in DaVinci Resolve to create your own custom look.
The vlog the clips are from:

Some other videos that helped me learn to emulate film:

Hey mate, Sigma FP user here - SO glad I found your channel and especially THIS video tutorial. This is super helpful and you've managed to get a really fantastic look for the RAW fp footage and quite straight forward. AND all with the free version of Resolve which is what I've got. I've had the fp in the cupboard for the past 8months and this has definitely inspired me to bring it out and try again. Great work, thank you. Subbed!👍

Thanks for sharing. Added bonus, using FP footage. I love the color IQ from the FP.

Amazing stuff! Really like how subtle the look is - it's not too much like most film emulations I see on youtube. Your talking head (that you're talking in in this vid) did you use your lut on that as well? Would you consider putting out your lut? Best, AJ

Thanks! That’s what I am trying to go for. I like a more subtle look
And yes I also used it for the talking head bits!

Would you recommend fp for cinematic a-roll stuff? I know you'd have to rig it out, but would you recommend it? Thank you in advance

How do i decide to put something in front or after the CST Node?

Again I'm not an expert, but in my mind you can have more control when you're working before it, and then after it you want to make more subtle adjustments. I would just experiment and see how things turn out.
