I hope you enjoy this video - remember, it's just my opinion - and opinions are like @r5eholes - some of them are full of 5hit! haha Whether you agree or not, let's talk about it - and if you want to join our discord, come and chat about more than just Valhalla - discord.gg/cpCs9yUEYK
For me the GOLDEN Era of AC is AC1 to AC Revelations. Then it got kinda experimental with stories and gameplay but now it's this dark souls like combat and massive grind. I just don't get interested anymore. Also what is the modern day plot? Syndicate had like 5 minutes of footage for a modern day plot!
I totally agree - even AC3 had more cohesion with the older games, cause at least it continued the modern day story line. I always thought that I just liked them for the historical stories - but then I realised the modern day is the 'glue that binds' - gives purpose. I miss when these games had a decent blend of old and modern stories - and you're right - it hasn't been the same since Revelations.
You know Roy, I have to disagree with you... Vanilla Ice-cream is awesome. Add small additions and its amazing. Valhalla is more like frozen milk, and additions just make it more apparent its just frozen milk with things added to it. So bland. Also I feel like it was a lazy attempt to clone Witcher 3, sprinkle in Skyrim elements without the parts that made both special.
Hahaha you know - guilty secret is that I have vanilla with a bit of raspberry in it most nights . Now I feel bad making the comparison to Vahalla is just insulting to vanilla ice cream haha!
Assassin's Creed really ended with the death of Desmond, but most love AC4. Days Gone is actually my favorite game of this gen (last gen). I play games for stories. What it makes the world realize: MEA is a lot better than most gave it credit for.
AC4 is a good game - it’s got pirates and ships - but I’m not convinced was a great Assassin’s Creed game. I enjoyed it though, same as I enjoyed Odyssey - but did it have much in common with the Desmond era games? Not so much. I really enjoyed Days Gone - and I play games for their stories too :). I enjoyed the world, and the freakers - just at times it felt like it could have been two games (and I would have bought both) and the story sort of lost pace (for me) at times. But I thoroughly enjoyed it. What other games do you love?
@@RoyMcCoy My biggest gaming love is Mass Effect. Almost on my first full playthrough of all 3 games of the remaster and I'm planning my second. KOTOR 1 and 2. I agree Days Gone was long, but I did like the payoff. No spoilers. I'm still hoping for Days Gone 2 because of PC sales. But I do think risk is something AAA are scared of. Like a superhero game with a first person mode. Sadly, Rockstar kinda did that with their first person mode, but I personally don't think we're seeing GTA7 for a long time. They made a billion on shark cards alone, they'd be nuts to shake that up. Funny, when I first got Live, it was to download The Lost and Damned. Just over a decade later, after being trailblazers, there's no single player DLC in sight. And if their is, they'll sell it in a next gen upgrade. And we'll all buy it.
@@davidriley8316 I really hope they make a Days Gone 2 - I think it was a solid start to a new IP. It doesn't deserve to RIP yet! Mass Effect 2 was incredible - I hadn't played the first when I played 2 for the first time - I think ME wasn't available on PS. Incredible games though - and I think I need to replay them! As for KOTOR! What a series - we need a number 3!
I like to play games to complete it, not just the story but all and everything you can see. (Points of interest, fun side quests, Easter eggs, etc.) As for Valhalla, for me there’s not of that and there hasn’t been for ages in triple a games.
I totally agree - I want to want to see and do everything - but rarely I feel incentivised or inspired. I love the stories, but these days it feels like too many features are rammed in AAA games and a padded story - in short - bland and bloated.
Mildly funny story that has little to do with the video- your vanilla ice cream bit reminded me of this. Before last summer, my girlfriend had never had Ben and Jerry's. When I found out and took her to the store to get some, she chose plain vanilla as her flavor from them. Needless to say I vetoed that choice.
I wasn’t a fan of the clunky feeling combat with axes and 2 handed swords in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla so I tried to go for the more stealthy “assassin” build with 2 knives. There was 1 dagger I needed in particular to really pull my build together, a dagger that restored health, but it was locked behind the Sussex alliance quest and that was closer to the end of the game. Maybe that should have been motivation for me to just not get hit by enemies so much, but it’s really inevitable when each enemy takes stab after stab from a knife like it’s was nothing. I just want to kill these guys with some assassin finesse. Parry parry counter attack stab done. That’s what I wanted, not chip away at huge health bar forever…
Presently Ubisoft doesn't seem to have a proper direction to their games especially the Far cry and Assassins Creed apart from corporate targets. All the present Ubisoft games seem to follow the Copy and paste formula as if the innovation and creativity are the most hated words in Ubisoft Universe.
To me this series never really had an identity of its own. Seems like they were always trying new gameplay ideas with every iteration with no rhyme or reason and were never worry about fixing what was already under cooked and underutilized. Now it's just an action RPG, so even farther away from the original concept. Honestly, if going by what the original Assassin's Creed concept was then the best Assassin's Creed games are the Hitman series.
I haven't tried all AC games. But I've played every AC since black flag, and even as a Swede. I can happily say that Valhalla is the worst AC game I have ever played EVER.

@@RoyMcCoy to be honest Desmond's death meant the death of the epic Assassins and Templers plot which the earlier games were all about.
