The fight between Artyom and Pavel is probably one of the saddest moments in the game. Pavel saw Artyom as a friend, but he also has to follow his orders. :(
The Nova Well if it isn't for Pavel, Artyom wouldn't know the way back at all. Pavel also saved Artyom multiple times and the little Dark One also said he only felt "sadness" rather than angry during the last fight. Also, he only betrayed Artyom once. I don't know why you think Pavel has done that many times.
Pavel might be sad in "Red square"as Dark One said, but if you remember the chapter Venice while you run into those doors in storage,he aims Artyom on head but when Artyom grab him under neck he was suddenly friendly, freaky coward. They might be friends once, but after Pavels betrayal they can't be friends again.Pavel is traitor .. but yeah its very sad moment in game. One of my top moments
+xFireGatezx I think its more that pavel saw his ideology over ANYTHING else. Thus he betrayed artyom, he really believed in his socialism. He really believed that the system couldnt fail. And yes, he was a coward, and probably a bully. But cowardness and bullying can not also come from anger, but also from sadness. What the dark one is trying to tell you the whole game is that every single being in this world does things not because its evil, but because something happened in its past or because it needs to survive. You dont know what happened to pavel, he couldve lost his parents along time ago and adapted his character by being a coward and a traitor. I personally loved the bear scene that showed off the brilliant philosophy or metro:LL
I feel that the first minutes you can hear about the broken friendship between Artyom and Pavel, full of sorrow and hauntly beautiful. Then the part of the battle, it seems that the music represents Artyom's hatred and grief as long with Pavel's despair and sadness; begging Artyom, his chuvak, his d’Artagnan, to kill him and end his agony. But of course there's a chance of forgiveness in the end
and even through years, devs planed to add Pavel as crew member of Aurora with his own story about his grandpa, where his grave can be found in forest level (one with dam and pioneers)
Theres no forgiveness. The only good in world is God, but even He rarely dwells in this planet. Man would kill other man just for petty anvy or greed. Theres no valor or creed. Anyone would press the button to end its own and worldly misery its just one thing here: I wont be the one for a sole mission: I might be condemned and as hated as much as others are egoistic/materialistic but Im not the one thats gonna end up in Hell
1:10 - 2:40 This blended in smoothly on the level Red Square when you emerge from the underground passage. The scenery of the ruined square and the music helped to establish the tragedy and the thesis of the series; understanding the sheer magnitude of the loss of our civilization, the quality of life it provided, and how it well never again be obtainable by repeating past mistakes like the imminent warfare for control of D6. I dunno, maybe I just went a little too deep lol.
not to deep at all, cause it was a very important scene and I agree completely with you that it perfectly portrayed just the magnitude of the amount of loss that had happened, and will happen again if you don't do something. your not alone.
+Radioso Estate Youre basically expressing what was the purpose of the music and scenery. Dont forget that this tune also fits perfectly with the crying of the dead in this level. A perfect scene that shows you how it would be if the dead really would find no peace and would be forced to long in the place they died for eternity. the little one said "theyre so many, yet they all long for us, theyre lonely." I still wonder what he meant by that... Either its because the dead have been there for too long to know each and everyone of them or they long for forgiveness.. I am rambling

My thoughts are that after the good ending in Last Light, Artyom and Pavel meet up for a few drinks. Who could of killed Pavel, anyway? I couldn't bring myself to do it, he's one of the best game characters ever.
Yea, the two musketeers never die. He was just following orders and he was sad about that. I really wish their was more of a conclusion or closure about Artyom and Pavel when you decide to spare him. Makes me sad just thinking about it.
Hearing this put a knife in my heart when I heard Pavel's voice in Red Square. I didn't want to have to fight him, but when given the choice to spare his life, I found some peace of mind.
The only problem I had with Pavel was that when he finally betrayed you, none of the characters stepped in to fill the role... Pavel was awesome, probably the best character in the game, but he gets such a small amount of gameplay as your ally... Had to forgive him.. It would be interesting to see a third Metro game focusing on the situation of the Metro after the failed attack on D-6, since the "good" ending is canon this time around, with Pavel taking a large role as a protagonist again...
Everything was simplified in the third game. Knowing how the red line are you know being communist and the fact korbut was secretly ruling the red line by blackmailing the chairman Marvin. Nothing looks good for Pavel if he survived, since I doubt Marvin will want anyone he knows worked for korbut personally remaining within the red line, his control is already weakened That Bass with the revelation of how his brother the previous chairman died and the fact Marvin easily got himself made into a puppet for korbut. And seeing how much of a brute he was when he was trying to show his son how to interrogate you. It's fairly easy to guess a purge happened right after D6 especially since whatever was left of scarface's faction likely got themselves to Claire traders to be shot on sight if they go back to any Redline control stations. I don't think being part of the faction of the a****** who was quite happy to release a plague on a station to cause people to die horribly while the other half were mercilessly gunned down and executed even if they weren't sick or caught the Ebola will find much friends anywhere in the Metro. Nazis already hate them for being red, I doubt Hansa or any Independence are going to want any of these type of people within their stations. And bandits are more liable to kill them and take their s***. Pretty much Pavel future isn't exactly looking bright. Though he's a survivor he'll live. But just like artyom when I spared his life that was it for him. I invoked this is the last time I save your life we are truly at this point even. I never want to see your face again after this and if I do I won't hesitate to shoot it off. I love this character but that's my opinion on people who mislead and betray me. In for Pavel he had his choice the friendship he had develop with you or the red line. And we all know what he chose. He had sadness and he really wished you had sided with his side but we all know that was never going to happen. Especially at this point where are artyom refuse to be blind to his actions ever again. Because the last time he did that well he ended up wiping out a species who were peaceful who had adopted in right after his mother died and they saved his life and he rewarded them as he said in one of the Diary entries by forgetting that memory and then acting like a fearful animal and blowing them all up. And at that point thinking himself a hero , he really didn't fully hate Pavel, as he was just like him except the difference is Pavel chose to let his loyalty to those he looked up to Blind him to their flaws, he acknowledged them. But he truly believed following his orders would be for the benefit of all even if a few lives have to be lost to do so comparable to artyom who finally realized listening to those around him that he looked up to Hunter and later Miller only ended up causing more problems and made him a hero to his faction just as Pavel was to his. But you know what they say one side will view you as a hero for your choices that helped them, but the other side well no view you as the greatest villain ever. Just look at Sir Francis Drake. A swashbuckling hero and adventurer to the people of his home country Britain, but evil ruthless pirate and Tomb Raider to his home country's Enemy at the time Spain, which ring true because people almost forget he was a privateer and it didn't matter if he was a privateer are not a pirate is still a pirate. They're pretty much water Bandits, privateers only got a pass because they were working in service of the country they were privateers for. That wouldn't stop them from being executed as pirates if they were captured by the country they chose to act Pirate's to. No different than independent Pirates , except they were actually being financed and we're pretty much state-sponsored terrorists
Wonder if other people around the world survived. I mean if you seen the nuking of the world on the website, you can still see some parts of the world unscorched.
There are parts, yeah. People living in other underground havens like the London Underground, I guess. If memory serves there are a FEW places on Earth that survived the nuclear holocaust are are habitable but due to the radiation surrounding they can't reach each other.
perplexedzeus1 People are confirmed to have survived in St Petersburg, Kiev, Minsk and a city in the Kola peninsula in the Arctic Circle complete with a functional nuclear power station that didn't get hit that is currently being besieged by "barbarians". Outside of Russia, most of the southern hemisphere didn't get hit by nukes and the Americans had some kind of "anti-rocket" system that spared much of the Midwest. The Middle East though is practically nothing but irradiated rubble.
What about the reaches of the north of Russia and the far east, villages and towns surely ignored buy nuclear weapons, and have been spared from fallout...
perplexedzeus1 Well there's that city in the Kola Penninsula I mentioned, I think Siberia was more or less untouched by nukes but given how cold it was before the nuclear winter came along, I have a hard time believing anyone could survive above ground there. There are undoubtedly survivors in the Russian goverment's utterly enormous bunker complex under Mt Yamantau but for some reason they have been oddly silent, even before the missiles started raining down at least according to one of Miller's Rangers who was assigned to monitor radio traffic on that terrible day the world died. The Russian Navy's strategic nuclear subs did transmit though and while some were destroyed, not all were. Those subs could spend up to half a year submerged before coming up for supplies so it's logical to assume that some NATO nuclear sub crews survived as well. There was also a guy in Prospekt Mira who kept in radio contact with a surviving tank crew who survived the nuking of Moscow by shutting their hatches and driving east of the city until they ran out of gas. Along the way they passed through some burning villages and picked up some women. Where they stopped, they turned their tank into a settlement and managed to grow some crops and even have a couple of kids who "weren't mutated . . . much" and the "critters" were much smaller than the ones being encountered in Moscow. They kept in contact with Prospekt Mira for about 2 years until they went off the air. Maybe their generator gave up on them or they simply ran out of ammo. Who can say.
Eh, Pavel's more likable. I actually pitied him as he was dragging himself away, berating you like he was begging you to kill him. He felt bad about betraying you, even then.
I though you ment the fact because the studio was in Kiev wich is really close to Pripyat (Chernobyl) xD Well, atleast that has all changed now with the money they earned from the game. SUch a brilliant game. Already loved the first one, this one blew my mind :D
I actually thought the Reds in the squares were friendly when I first went in because the loadspeaker distorted Pavel's voice and until he says he wants you dead he's speaking as if he's a ranger surprised you got that far. It was quite annoying as I was standing out in the open when they all opened fire.
yeah, i guess so..the thing is also that in far cry 3 you just meet Vaas at the very start and after that you meet him 2 times and to you he is nothing more than a "target".In metro Pavel is your friend until he betrays you which is kind of heart breaking :DD
Relaxed part-Remembers me to a desolated wasteland hours after the nuclear blast in a city, destroyed buildings, burning cars. Rock part-Makes me wonder to a battle btw the last terrestrial forces of the NATO and Russia hours or days after the Global Thermonuclear War.
I was in survival ranger difficulty , 2 mags with my kalash 2012 , near to death (screen really red) , and no medkits , i had to beat him like that , but I think that's the way you should fight him , it's harder.
The thing that made didn't 2033 hard was that the stealth was essentially broken so that once you were spotted you might as well reload your save and there were very few ways to actually instantly kill an enemy silently, but yeah I agree Last Light should have been harder and they made the AI too dumb, you could literally stand in front of them and they wouldn't see you.
Way easier. Remember fucking D6? Holy hell. Also was I the only one who couldn't find any filters at all in 2033? I just stocked up on them at stations and ran through surface levels. Even the library
I might have seen it wrong, but I felt nothing but pure anger when Pavel betrayed me. The only thing keeping me from killing him was the fact that I was going for a good guy run.... and the fact that the punching animations are always way funnier.
no. i had problems on my first play trough on normal difficulty finding these damn filters or any money so that i could buy some:(. i agree about D6...holy crap! those damn brainy goo balls!
Vaas was in the game three times and had one of the worst deaths. You couldn't really feel anything for vaas other than, "oh, that's cool acting" because he was just a minor inconvience in the far cry.

It does mention in the game that submarines survived the nuclear attacks, and either retaliated or something else.
perplexedzeus1 People are confirmed to have survived in St Petersburg, Kiev, Minsk and a city in the Kola peninsula in the Arctic Circle complete with a functional nuclear power station that didn't get hit that is currently being besieged by "barbarians".
Is this...the center? All the roads lead to this place.
I loved the little Dark One. A very useful companion, especially in the Dead City
Eh, Pavel's more likable. I actually pitied him as he was dragging himself away, berating you like he was begging you to kill him. He felt bad about betraying you, even then.
I though you ment the fact because the studio was in Kiev wich is really close to Pripyat (Chernobyl) xD
Well, atleast that has all changed now with the money they earned from the game. SUch a brilliant game. Already loved the first one, this one blew my mind :D
Hehe i toss grenades up those stair ways. I need that ammo on hardcore for Big mamma Bear.
I actually thought the Reds in the squares were friendly when I first went in because the loadspeaker distorted Pavel's voice and until he says he wants you dead he's speaking as if he's a ranger surprised you got that far.
It was quite annoying as I was standing out in the open when they all opened fire.
James Moore i thought they were the order xdd
yeah, i guess so..the thing is also that in far cry 3 you just meet Vaas at the very start and after that you meet him 2 times and to you he is nothing more than a "target".In metro Pavel is your friend until he betrays you which is kind of heart breaking :DD
Pavel killed me a lot because of his corner camping :( but I saved because hes an epic character :)
I was in survival ranger difficulty , 2 mags with my kalash 2012 , near to death (screen really red) , and no medkits , i had to beat him like that , but I think that's the way you should fight him , it's harder.
2:50 Best part
Oh man, the biggest problem was Miller strolling through them and getting swamped.
And that day my fellows i let Pavel live, Why ? because i would have never made it without him during the first hours of the game.
Last light >>> exodus
no way in 7 billion years
The thing that made didn't 2033 hard was that the stealth was essentially broken so that once you were spotted you might as well reload your save and there were very few ways to actually instantly kill an enemy silently, but yeah I agree Last Light should have been harder and they made the AI too dumb, you could literally stand in front of them and they wouldn't see you.

True.Far cry 3 didn't really make you feel worried about anything.Sam died? Cool. The crazy doctor died?Cool.
Артём! Ну что же ты Артём!
amazing
OPPA!
Rick... what are you doing here?... GO kill zombies and record the 4th season!
Thank for ost
no. i had problems on my first play trough on normal difficulty finding these damn filters or any money so that i could buy some:(. i agree about D6...holy crap! those damn brainy goo balls!
Your comment made my day. Let us raise a mug of VDNKh tea for our comrades!
Agree!!!
O-opa!
ahaha, you don't sound like a douche, i'll agree, it was a cake walk xD
still awesome though :D
What's the music that plays during the Venice stealth segment? Anyone knows?
I think the guy who acts Pavel iis Gaga from Undisputed 2 and 3. Yes, epic game character but I wanna beat him down, haven't finished the game yet.
Vaas was in the game three times and had one of the worst deaths. You couldn't really feel anything for vaas other than, "oh, that's cool acting" because he was just a minor inconvience in the far cry.
What do you mean by the conditions they worked in?
Try on Ranger Hardcore. Regular hardcore doesn't have shit on that.
but...but what about Vaas
крутой трек
Я думал тут нет русских
uhm... i might sound like an arrogant douche, but i thought that Last Light was way to easy even on hardcore. 2033 was harder(just my opinion)
