You have just confused a number of novices call the Biots “Fibbetts”. Also, the biots come from the leading “flight” edge of the feather with the biots themselves considered “feather barbs”. To clarify one point, the shuck of a fly and/or fly pattern is off the back of the fly and results when the fly emerges from its exoskeleton. For all shucks, I always include some portion of it in Amber color as this is the most common color. Shucks range from brown, thru tan to amber in color. What you tied in with the CDC is the body and wings of the fly emerging from the exoskeleton coupled with the wing case that expands with gasses, splits and allows the fly to break free.
