I think they are the best value in the market right now. how can you argue for the price and what you get. a base model has everything you need for the most part. I was shocked when I looked at them. I restore old ones and hated them for many years but the diesel got me back to them. But the new jetta is shocking and a great value almost diesel MPG. engine compartment roomy enough to get it serviced and repaired just all around well designed. But i am still waiting for the engineering flaws. They always have them some things never change. but I think if I was buying a new car I would highly consider a jetta.
actually I happened to own a 2006 jetta tdi and it has been very reliable; then again I do take care of it .To date everything works and interior is imaculate.122000 miles and going strong! My wifes car is the 2017 jetta .
Test drive a Jetta in the SEL with the 1.8T engine. Chose this level over the norms of Civic, Corolla, 3, and Focus. The solid feel of this car, the way it drove and felt was what won us over. We also like the clean lines and clean interior.
The lower end Jettas do feel rental grade; even Chevy learned that and the 2017 Cruze has significantly more padding & soft-touch panels whereas the VW still has hard plastics galore. The SEL & GLI models do have a nicer center stack & accents to break up the black-on-black hard plastics of the SE.
I agree with you, I'm considering buying a jetta I was shown the Base model and it was nice, but it had little details, like hard plastic on the handles and parts of the console. I have a 2004 legacy and apart from the lower end of the cabin, it's all padded. The Jetta had fabric on the upper part of the doors, but still felt a bit cheap compared with the Legacy. Having said that, I really liked the interior space, even better than the mazda 6,which I also considered buying
The Mk6 Jettas remind me a lot of the Mk4s. They have the same long, straight lines in the styling and the interior design is pretty similar too. I got a 1.8T from Enterprise over the summer and really liked it!
Imho this car is excellent.handsome design; unlike the design messes that are available today.excellent engine and good fuel economy.very good comfortable and secure ride.I cannot understand why anyone would want anything more .Sporty and flashy ,no ;elegant and confident I think so.If you want a proper sports car buy a real one (ferrari, lamborghini etc.) if you can afford one if not stop talking nonsense.
NELSON LOPEZ If you lived with a 2006-2010 Jetta for seven years like me, you'd feel very short-changed with the interior quality. If not, then most people probably won't care which is why it sells.
I didn't know people complained about the hard plastic on the interior... seems like a very minor thing to complain about... "its not soft to the touch" ... like wtf your literally never going to be touching it who cares
Great review of the Jetta. I bought a Jetta back in 2005 with the 1.8T engine. It was a zippy, fun-to-drive car. I wouldn't purchase a new one, buy I enjoyed this review!
Had you seen the all new 2019 Jetta yet? Because my girlfriend wants one to replace her 2012 POS Ford Focus SE yep she has had it with her 2012 Ford Focus.
Cameron Fahking Rogers It's probably my second favorite car in its class behind the Volkswagen GTI. I'd take the GTI for the more refined styling both inside & out and also overall build quality and driving refinement. I just don't think I have it in me to buy a Ford with actual real money again for a while after my previous experiences.
Ty Smith The previous-gen was much nicer feeling and the Golf is also much nicer feeling since it's on the MKVII platform. The next-gen Jetta is due out soon and will be a huge improvement when it finally makes the switch to the MQB platform.
@mercmilan06 The issue mentioned by you such as Carbon cleanup, intake manifold, Gasket issue, at how many miles you faced this issue? Do you think 2017 Passat or 2017 Jetta may face this same issue? Has the reliability of VW increased in 2017? Will you suggest VW to anyone?
Funny...my GTI was in for an intake manifold a little over a week ago. I got lucky and got a Golf SportWagen TDI SEL as a loaner :) Having owned an MK6 Jetta in the past, the points you hit struck home...it's in desperate need of a complete redesign
I test drove one a couple weeks ago. Solid car with a transmission I’m not a fan of at low speeds. It’s fine as a daily driver but very uninspired in terms overall design inside and out.
szaki Only had the car for a day, but based on experience with a 2018 Golf that has an even larger engine and a similar 6spd auto and size, you should easily be able to get that kind of mileage on the highway.
Neil Joseph i was thinking a lighter blue but i would say go with the blue it looks good night and day where the white looks good during the day and needs lots of maintenance
I seriously don't mind the hard plastic of the trim. Heck my mk6 gti has not smart key, no auto headlights, sunroof nor reverse camera. I think the jetta looks simple and gorgeous, however the cheap looking climate control buttons are a real turn off.
Belt cam no sir you are wrong my jetta is timing chain not timing belt made them take off timing cover to prove it mines 2017 Jetta 1.4t s 5 spd manual
God these Jettas are ancient now! Basically nobody buys them here in the UK as small saloons aren't popular (Although there are quite a few A3 saloons about) and the Golf is ahead of it in basically every aspect. We love our hatches!
@mercmilan06 The difference is that in Europe Jetta has much more soft platics inside in all trims, much more engine options etc. US Jetta was dumbed down for the US market to keep the price below $20k. On the other hand Japanese cars are pretty expensive here, Honda just reeased pricing for the new Civic hatchback (they released the sedan about a year ago in the US) and it's crazy. Base Civic with 1.0 turbo engine costs pretty much as much as VW Golf in the mid trim but - it has neither AC nor stereo! Base version of 1.5T engine (with the AC and radio) costs as much as some entry midsize sedans like Peugeot 508 or Ford Mondeo (Fusion) with 1.5-1.6 turbo engines producing 165-180hp.
The interior is drab, boring and the materials lag behind pretty much every car in this class. Driving this back to back with the Mazda 3 & Civic was enough to tell me the MK7 Jetta should have been here already. $23,000 buys an EX-T Civic these days. If it weren't for the discounts these Jettas offered I don't know if anyone would buy them. Golf is night and day.
That. Guy.From.Marz It's not all shit, but it is very outdated and a big contrast from the quality of the Golf. Lots of people think the Jetta is just a Golf with a trunk, it's not in this generation.
This is the best looking Jetta they’ve ever made
I LOVE my 2017 jettas...yes that's right I bought 2!

Rick Feeney how much were they, did you buy cash???
Milk 2 Percent My friend just bought a brand new S trim for $13.9k
Im buying one soon for 10k with 2k miles honestly a bargain; you could get two of these for the price of a brand new civic
actually I happened to own a 2006 jetta tdi and it has been very reliable; then again I do take care of it .To date everything works and interior is imaculate.122000 miles and going strong! My wifes car is the 2017 jetta .

Vincent O I've driven a 1.8T, it's definitely an improvement.
What are you talking about the interior is fantastic
The lower end Jettas do feel rental grade; even Chevy learned that and the 2017 Cruze has significantly more padding & soft-touch panels whereas the VW still has hard plastics galore. The SEL & GLI models do have a nicer center stack & accents to break up the black-on-black hard plastics of the SE.

It is a very good car!
I got this for my 1st car, I love it
Imho this car is excellent.handsome design; unlike the design messes that are available today.excellent engine and good fuel economy.very good comfortable and secure ride.I cannot understand why anyone would want anything more .Sporty and flashy ,no ;elegant and confident I think so.If you want a proper sports car buy a real one (ferrari, lamborghini etc.) if you can afford one if not stop talking nonsense.

car is awesome
This makes me miss my 12 Jetta TDI a lot
what happened? Defect situation ??
just a car for driving like every car lol taking about just nice for daily driving around lol looks like an awesome car to me
Wow !! So much negativity 🙄

I didn't know people complained about the hard plastic on the interior... seems like a very minor thing to complain about... "its not soft to the touch" ... like wtf your literally never going to be touching it who cares
It strikes me as a little silly too.I guess at least they're not into touching little kids.
Don't these have Apple CarPlay as well? Nice to see LED plate bulbs too.
brorowcarwiz Yes, it has Apple CarPlay and it works well.
The sticker on this car is essentially what I just paid for my 17 GLI. Getting a GLI for that price made it a no brainer decision.
Great review of the Jetta. I bought a Jetta back in 2005 with the 1.8T engine. It was a zippy, fun-to-drive car. I wouldn't purchase a new one, buy I enjoyed this review!
0:16 Adding a red sticker to the middle grill, it gives a wonderful look.
Have a 2016 love it
Had you seen the all new 2019 Jetta yet? Because my girlfriend wants one to replace her 2012 POS Ford Focus SE yep she has had it with her 2012 Ford Focus.
Thoughts on the Ford focus ST? would you ever own one in the future?
Cameron Fahking Rogers It's probably my second favorite car in its class behind the Volkswagen GTI. I'd take the GTI for the more refined styling both inside & out and also overall build quality and driving refinement. Have the exact same car in a manual and love it
sir snow me to!!!!
robert gryca nice bro I hate how it says 160 on the dash but won't pass 124.. Wtf lol
Ohh my goodness it’s perfect
This guys glass is definitely half empty .

I got my loaner today and it feels so much cheaper than my mk5.

I like your honesty
What part of VT are you in I’m in Dorset
How does the drive feel in the snow?
They’re pretty decent in the snow overall
How fix powerstreing control mojull
I test drove one a couple weeks ago. Solid car with a transmission I’m not a fan of at low speeds. It’s fine as a daily driver but very uninspired in terms overall design inside and out.
Does it get 38 mpg?
Would prefer one with stick shift!
szaki Only had the car for a day, but based on experience with a 2018 Golf that has an even larger engine and a similar 6spd auto and size, you should easily be able to get that kind of mileage on the highway.
I want one a 17 Jetta! Which color would be the best to get?
Neil Joseph white or light blue
Funny you say that I'm actually looking at pure white or silk blue metallic right now. Which do you think looks better?
Neil Joseph silk blue metalic, but sone will say its a girly color
Really? I was thinking white would be considered more of the girly color. Tough choice!
Neil Joseph i was thinking a lighter blue but i would say go with the blue it looks good night and day where the white looks good during the day and needs lots of maintenance
have you considered getting the new Fusion Sport
Nic Jennings Not seriously, briefly thought it would be cool to lease a base one as a second car, but that's way too much money to spend for me.
My mom's Versa has the same mechanical feel to the a/c controls, it feels like you are going to brake them!
I seriously don't mind the hard plastic of the trim. Heck my mk6 gti has not smart key, no auto headlights, sunroof nor reverse camera. I think the jetta looks simple and gorgeous, however the cheap looking climate control buttons are a real turn off.
Good for new driver?
I would say so!
Belt cam no sir you are wrong my jetta is timing chain not timing belt made them take off timing cover to prove it mines 2017 Jetta 1.4t s 5 spd manual
Any reliability issues with the Audi?
grifster981234567890 Nope! It's a keeper!
What size engine does the se tsi have?
1.4 liter
Ok thank you, I just got one and it's nice and fast too
R u in USA?
God these Jettas are ancient now! Basically nobody buys them here in the UK as small saloons aren't popular (Although there are quite a few A3 saloons about) and the Golf is ahead of it in basically every aspect. We love our hatches!
Very ancient! The MKVII Golf is a vast improvement over this thing!

Nobody buys them? But why are you here then?
One weird fact about the Jetta there is no ESP switch so you cannot turn off traction control. Kinda stupid imo
disconnect the ABS fuse and traction control goes with it :)
hey i live in vermont too!
My mom just got a 2017 Ford Fusion sport
bos ik fun!
"Not very solid, if you know what I mean". That's what she said.
The interior is drab, boring and the materials lag behind pretty much every car in this class. ER B I completely agree. I would take a base Golf over a loaded Jetta any day.
doen'st Jetta with leather feel better than Golf's cloth seats? What about 16 inch in Jetta compared to 15 inch Golf?? Would appreciate your comments!
By the way leather dash and doors suck ass they always end up fucking up
Why even review it if you say its all shit and not up to your standards. Jesus Christ.
That. Guy.From.Marz It's not all shit, but it is very outdated and a big contrast from the quality of the Golf. Lots of people think the Jetta is just a Golf with a trunk, it's not in this generation.
good fuel economy my ass
to think this car wiuld ve really nice if they spent 200$ bucks on the fxkn plastics
Just gotta say from the gay Community you are hella cute
I personally drive a vw Jetta 1.8 sport with active headlights
