    Hello. I could really use your advice. I am going to buy a 2020 Jeep Renegade 1.6 diesel automatic. The car has recently passed successfully the MOT inspection. The car consumed approx. 900ml. of oil from previous service until now (4.000km). I asked the MOT technicians if the car was leaking oil from underneath, would they be able to see it. They told me that they would able to see it as long as the car didn't have any protective aprons underneath. Watching your video I see that there is no protective apron underneath. Is this right? If you were checking the car for leaks, would you be able to see them in a Jeep Renegade? Is the approx. 200-250ml. oil consumption per 1.000km normal? PS. The exhaust fumes were ok. Thank you in advance for your help. BR, Vassilis.

      Hello Vassilis. There is a bottom engine cover on the Jeep Renegade. The technician should still be able to see a substantial oil leak with it installed, in my opinion. Removal of the cover is easy and covered early in the video. Many Car manufacturers have said, oil consumption of 1 quart every 2,000 to 3,000 miles is "normal". 900ml (.95qt) in 4,000km (2,485 miles) seem excessive to me, but falls in line with what the OEM deems "normal".
      I would have it checked for any oil leaks and also look if you are getting smoke from the exhaust. You will be looking for white smoke at idle but also under load to spool the turbo and off throttle. If it idles without smoke but smokes under hard acceleration or as soon as you get off throttle after hard acceleration, this is a sign of bad turbo oil seals.
      Hope that helped. Let me know if you have any other questions.

    Is 0w30 euro full synthetic oil ok to use or should i try and find 0w30 from mopar? I have a 2023 renegade with the 1.3l turbo along with the 9 speed automatic

      @grumpyvetgarage  Місяць тому +1

      In my opinion Pennzoil 0w30 Euro Full Synthetic is easier to find and higher quality than the 0w30 from Mopar. The Pennzoil does not have the oil certification recommended by Mopar. I personally do not care that it doesn't have the certification, but you would have to make that decision for yourself on which oil to use.

      @@grumpyvetgarage thankyou so much and you’re absolutely right it is easier to find the euro synthetic than finding 0w30 heck i waited 3 weeks just to get a quart of mopar were i was a quart low

    have you heard about a turbo oil filter thats supposed to be checked cleaned often? I read somewhere

      I haven't heard about a second filter other than the engine oil filter on the 1.3 Turbo. I wouldn't think there would be a need for a second filter beyond the "full flow" engine oil filter. If you find a reference for a second oil filter please leave a link in the comments. I would be very interested to see it. Thanks for commenting.

    My wife loves her jeep renegade! Ive even grow to like it, too i said it looked like a clown car when she got it but it can fit down the 4 wheeler trails.

      My daughter loves her renegade too. I was surprised how nimble and punchy it is with the turbo. It's a great little suv, haven't taken it down any trails but not surprised that it would do alright on them.

    Once you have the stupid plastic aero plate removed, leave it off.

      I'd say personal preference. It definitely isn't protecting anything, but I'm assuming there may be some fuel mileage aero benefit.

      @@grumpyvetgarage I have the 2015 Renegade with a 1.4 turbo multi air connected to the six speed stick. Now that it’s summer, I get about 29 mpg. In mixed driving and 32 on a trip. Is yours any different? Thank you. Mark.

    • @grumpyvetgarage
      @grumpyvetgarage  Рік тому

      The 1.3 Turbo with the 9-Speed Auto gets around 26 mpg in mixed driving and 30 mpg on trips. It has the AWD drivetrain and that would cause some loss in fuel efficiency because of extra driveline and add weight from the transfer case, driveshaft and rear differential, but your 32 mpg on the highway is pretty good.
