    Sorry to hear of your issues. I have a 2020 Renegade and it has been flawless. Arguably one of the best vehicles I have ever owned.

    I'm a retired GM/Chrysler tech. What I've been noticing with the dealers, is the poor quality techs they have now days. They don't have the skills necessary to properly diagnose vehicles properly. The chances of a new window switch or window motor failing is between slim and nil. They should have tested the wiring circuits from the switch to the motor, instead of what we called in the business "Shot gunning" the diagnosis. Throwing parts at the problem. I'm glad I can work on my own stuff. I won't ever take a vehicle to the Stealership.

    Words are HARD. It's a cheap vehicle that cost a lot of money. When your last one needed a new motor at 4000 mi why would you give them more business?

  • @bondgabebond4907
    @bondgabebond4907 6 місяців тому +4

    At least it was a simple fix. Too bad the dealer mechanic didn't test the motor before replacing the switches.

    I am so sorry to hear about this. This vehicle is routinely on the list of the worst made vehicle with the worst reliability. I hope things get better.

    Sounds more like a lot of dealership Issue than Jeep or the Renegade in general. That tech should've not just thrown parts at it instead he should've troubleshooted the problem. We own a 2018 Latitude and it has been almost flawless for 5 years only basic maintenance. Now we did have 1 issue that is with the Fog Lamps as they tend to brown out otherwise the halogen bulb is too close to the reflector and it melts the housing easy fix took me about 20 minutes to replace both sides with TYC Fog Lamps that were CAPA Certified and replaced the Halogen bulbs with LED from Auxbeam that are Canbus friendly. Then we had a incident with a Owl that we hit in the wee hours of the night coming from watching a meteor shower which wiped out the Passenger side Headlamp so off they came and I installed a set of JW Speaker 8700 R LED Headlights that are no longer in production I got one of the last sets made cost was $1200 for the pair but they come with the Headlights and the Mounting Brackets included biggest Upgrade by far. I will agree with you on the Fiat 1.4l issues they were junk now the new 1.3l is a far better engine. This is also why new cars have warranties and we use them to fix issues.

    • @southern_car_enthusiast
      @southern_car_enthusiast  6 місяців тому

      I agree.. I think the dealership was doing the... Replace the cheap parts first... Type of thing.

    I have owned 3 newer Jeep Wranglers and not had any electrical issues. Knock on wood. But the second you said that the window wouldn't go down, its usually the motor inside or the module that tells it to go down (not the switches). Especially on a newer car. Your problems sound like they are more dealer service related then the manufacturer. Glad you got it fixed though.

      I concur with your assessment it is dealer related 100% he didn't even attempt to remedy the problem instead he just tossed the parts cannon expecting it to fix itself.

    I've always been intrigued by the Renegade, but i'm not sure I would pull the trigger. For the same money i think a used Toyota is the way to go. My 2010 V6 Rav has been flawless at 186k. No reason to get rid of it. Yeah, when it goes I will probably get a used highlander or another Rav.

    I had an 18 i bought new. There were many things i loved about the car but it burned oil excessively so i had to trade it in at a loss. I was hoping the quality would improve by 23. As far as the mpg, the body is blocky and has poor aerodynamics

      @@southern_car_enthusiast Give it time needs to break-in a little more. Our overall MPG is 26 and that is 5 years of driving, we live in rural Texas so we drive a minimum of 50 miles to the nearest large town, The oil consumption issue that plagues the 2.4l is known but it can also be remedied real fast because with a 13 gallon fuel tank it a quick pop of the hood and check your fluids will your sitting there waiting to fill up your vehicle.

    Oh look...the Renegade haters have entered the chat. We have 2, 2021 Renegade Trailhawks in the family. Bought one for each of the twins when they went to college...both had 1 minor issue after about 500 miles...the battery health sensor for the stop/start system died. Easy fix, and were in and out in under 2 hours. The biggest issue with the Renegade is all the 'sit' time they have after they're built. They roll off the factory floor and 'sit' waiting to clear customs there, and waiting for the cargo ship...then they sit on the ship...then they sit waiting in a lot at US customs until they clear...then they sit again for delivery to dealers. When they're finally on the lot...they end up with little issues from all the time parked.
    Ours have been flawless since that 1 issue and both kids love theirs. They don't get the greatest MPG...that little turbo engine is running hard all the time moving the Renegade around!

    First mistake was buying a Chrysler product, or should I say Fiat product. Jeep and Dodge are consistently rated low on reliability and quality ratings. We have a 2017 Ford Escape which is by no means the best small SUV out there but it's been very reliable and trouble free. Only had to have a purge valve replaced in 6 yrs of ownership

      Good luck with that these days. My 2020 model-year JAPAN-BUILT TNGA Toyota was a bag full of problems/issues for the 2 years & 10K miles that I kept it. It had to be towed in for warranty repairs on multiple occasions due to various failures that left me stranded. It also developed too many rattles to count in the cabin area, as well as having paint quality issues. My experience is that neither Toyota or Honda builds them like they used to these days.

      I don't know.. I just looked around here in town, and have 3 dealers. Ford, Chevy and Chrysler. And I liked the Dart I had back in 2013, this was a similar motor, and I just wanted something different than what I was used to

    • @jerroldshelton9367
      @jerroldshelton9367 5 місяців тому

      I can tell you why I bought my 2015 Renegade Trailhawk instead of a RAV4.
      I wanted a vehicle that would work okay off-pavement on BLM and Forest Service trails that lead to my favorite fly fishing and upland game bird hunting spots.
      So, the appeal of the Renegade Trailhawk was 31 degree approach angle, 25 degree breakover angle, 34 degree departure angle, 9 inches of ground clearance, effective skid plates, functional recovery points, and 20:1 mechanical + 2:1orque multiplication from the torque converter for combined off-idle low gearing of 40:1. The exterior dimensions were a draw, too. Some of the trails I use on public wild land are narrow and some of them have overhanging branches from pinion trees, and most have tight turns, so it is easy to buy a vehicle too wide, long, and tall for those trails.
      The Renegade Trailhawk is the most off-pavement capable vehicle in its class. I wanted that capability along with 27+ MPG fuel economy. If I had no regular planned use for that off-pavement capability, I'd have zero interest in ANY SUV / CUV and would have spent my money on a used Corvette or some other sport car, instead.
      A RAV4 wouldn't interest me in the slightest.
      There is a lot of prejudice in commentary about the Renegade that is centered around it's FIAT connection and Italian build. My step=daughter takes my grandkids to school every day in a 26 year old FIAT Panda 4 X 4 that my wife gave to her when she immigrated to the U.S.A. from Italy. My wife has almost zero mechanical sympathy and basically abused that poor little Panda, yet it continues to run and run well. I abused it a bit myself going from Monte San Pietro near Bologna to the nether-regions of Tuscany to fly fish a few rivers down there. A friend and I beat the crap out of the thing getting to and from out fishing spot. FIAT has certainly built crap cars. So have Ford and GM. FIAT has made reliable cars, too. They built the Alfa Romeo cop cars my fly fishing buddy used when serving on the Squara Volante while a police officer over there. Cop cars there get treated like "police interceptor" Crown Victorias got treated here by cops here in the U.S.A.
      Most Renegade owners have had the same positive ownership experience that I've had since 2015 over 137,000 miles. Mine is now almost 10 years old and still looks and works like new in spite of the time it's spent on the trail.
