- Well, well, I didn't get till the final episode who Halbrand really is, that is why I spent the entire final episode with the thoughts "is it really him" and "well, maybe not? ". But you know what? I liked it. I liked the way the season ended. That it was shown how little difference there really is between Galadriel and Sauron, and honestly almost all my interest in the series was based on them:D
P.S. (Did I understand correctly that initially he wanted to make two rings of power for himself and Galadriel? Such a romantic :D)

Elves basically mate for life, even if Celeborn was dead (he isnt) then Galadriel would never fall in love/be with anyone again. There's only one case of an elf getting remarried and the needed Menwes permission.

Whole age has passed since they last meet in the hobbit movie . an age. years can change people. he was already corrupted and had no humanity left as he put all of his essence his soul his humanity into one ring. by the third age he was nothing but a monster with lust for power and domination

I love the way she says "you will die because of me " without realising her strength against him in the series.
For a moment, he (Sauron) believed that he could fix everything and find peace. But he couldn't. Morgoth never released him, Sauron lived in the illusion of "freedom". (Of course, Sauron is a completely different character in the book).
Not that different. In the beginning of the second age Sauron genuinely, albeit briefly, was repentant and believesd he could turn to the "good" side and unite middle earth.
Tolkien write: Sauron was not "evil" in origin; he had been corrupted by the Prime Dark Lord Morgoth. He had been given the opportunity to repent when Morgoth was overcome, could not face the humiliation of recantation, had seemed to turn to good, and then relapsed to become the main representative of Evil in later ages. At the beginning of the Second Age he was still beautiful to look at and was not wholly evil, not unless all "reformers" are evil even before pride eats them up/
And Tolkien often repeated this:
....Sauron was a being of Valinor perverted to the service of the Enemy [Melkor] and becoming his chief captain and servant. He repents in fear when the First Enemy is utterly defeated, but in the end does not do as was commanded, return to the judgement of the gods. He lingers in Middle-earth. Very slowly, beginning with fair motives: the reorganising and rehabilitation of the ruin of Middle-earth, 'neglected by the gods', he becomes a reincarnation of Evil, and a thing lusting for Complete Power - and so consumed ever more fiercely with hate (especially of gods and Elves). Sauron was of course not 'evil' in origin. He was a 'spirit' corrupted by the Prime Dark Lord (the Prime sub-creative Rebel) Morgoth. I really love their ship and I want to see the season 2 because of them only. Although I love this trope that he could have redemption because of her as he could find light in him. Knowing the future and real nature of Sauron I tend to believe more that it’s all was his manipulation and great skills in deceiving people. It would be awesome as the show could show us how he’s good at deceiving that he even made us viewers to be for him and believe he didn’t want anything and just wanted peace. If only they could make it more clearly in the end. But now only second thoughts and doubts if he was really ready to go to the light side or it was his genius plan to trick everyone.

Were they trying to make us dislike Galadriel and feel bad for Sauron, because that's what I'm feeling now. She gave him a lot of reasons to believe she would accept his proposal and then she super meanly refuses him. She threatens to kill him, even. Like, you can let him down gently, girl. The man is putting his heart out there and you're squishing it like a bug. Maybe threatening to kill him is a bit of an overreaction to feeling like you ought to turn him down.
It's a perfect example of what a psychopath does. The serial killer Ted Bundy was just as charming. Until he clubbed the women who helped him to death.

The actors have such a good chemistry, but just because a man is pretty in his human form doesnt mean hes not a monster. Hes ancient and cruel in the ways you cant imagine, and I hate to see people hating Galadriel because she "turned him down".

Galadriel tried to touch the darkness and the darkness ended up tasting the light. He felt peace and gave her his power instead. I don't know what their story is like in the novel, but I hope that at least season 2 will have a romantic story until Galadriel becomes the Lady of Light and find celeborn. Maybe because she was manipulated by Sauron until she was finally able to defeat the darkness within her and find her light like Gandalf who become a white wizard in TLOTR

Since a week i am heartbroken with sauron, i felt that galadriel broke his heart, he wanted to propose to her, she used him, they make us feel shes the evil one..i feel bad for him :-'( poor saurondude,ugh can someone let them be a couple? I dont care about the true Tolkienstorie, we just want to see sauron and Galadriel as a couple🙈
would you marry the man that caused your brother's death? death of thousands of your relatives andfriends ? She was on the search of the man that ruined her life only to find out that the man she relied on, maybe had a crush for months was the same man that she wanted to kill. she is heartbroken too. maybe sauron was genuine he really wanted to redeem himself or at least find peace but he can't expect her accept him after what he has done to her life, to her family to her kin

I think she was trying to give him a chance. If he had told there is a difference between "save or rule" (I mean he hadn't lied but really thought so), she would be able to find strength at least to try and if not forgive him then to accept the fact he had changed. It is a pity this had no chance to happen.

Well Galadriel did fuck up saying no to his love confession after finding out his name is Sauron.
If she said yes to showing him the light, he be ready to give up his power for her to be mortal.
Galadriel's rejection was what caused all this conflict of Third Age, and with that Galadriel became the true Dark Lord
Sauron is but a man with a broken heart who was betrayed by the woman he loved and was sincerely ready to become mortal if it meant to be with her.
If only she cast aside her selfish quest for vengeance against the one responsible for her brother's death, maybe in the end Sauron would be seen as a good guy.
But again. Decisions have consequences. Galadriel's consequence is the start of the greatest war middle earth has ever seen.
Nah, he didn't want to give up power. He wanted to conquer the world with her. He just thought he'd be better at ruling it with her by his side.
@@MissKashira this is true but honestly i think he was right, he probably would have been a kinder ruler if she had been ruling alongside him. "not dark. not with you by my side" "you bind me to the light", he might have been a benevolent king/dictator instead of a cruel one.

Sauron looks like a man but he is not. You can see in his eyes. He want rule all middle Earth not be a human farmer somewhere. It’s quite a romantic proposal and some time I ask if things could be better if Galadriel accepted, but it was a manipulative offer. Peace in change of dictatorship? They are somehow linked. The choice to make Sauron from an abstract pure evil to someone like a man is interesting and I think necessary to tell the story of how almost everybody got fooled by him. To play with everyone desires they have been trust him somehow. This manipolative but lost Sauron quite thinking to do good is fascinating. Even so, even more he’s dangerous. I don’t feel enough perhaps the conflict she must feel from being in front of the evil she hunted for centuries and being in front of the friend she learn to count on and she share feeling with
Sauron in RoP/this show is a interesting mix of Palpatine (pure evil/ irredeemable villain) and Vader (tragic villain). You really are left with your own „wondering days” if he really loves her +wants to save Middle-Earth or is lying?

I have a theory that the Istar isn't the only to fall from the stars that night. I mean there are more Istars out there, and ok they say "THE ISTAR" cuz he is the powerfullest of them all, but my guess is that that cult group that was after Sauron - and probably made a ritual to summon/invoke him back to middle earth - did succeded altho also brought the Istars with him. My guess is Halbrand fell down as a meteor too that night, but he fell over that ship, that broke and turned into shipwreck and probably attracted that monster.

The most epic story of all time reduced too a romance that couldnt be, because she is already married,a billion dollars and they have battle scenes that should be epic,only have a few warriors ,they totally messed with the timeline,when they get mad they snarl and scream like a vampire but dont do any combat,pretty lame ,i think alot of people watched because its based on a great story ,but they made alot of mistakes,they obviously should of read the books better,mithril holding the light to save the elves ,the star of erindul has the light of a silmaril ,all they need is starlight from that star
