Joseph T. Kider, Ph.D., presents "Advancing Interdisciplinary Research with Immersive Technologies in Cultural Heritage." He overviews several projects funded by the National Endowment of the Humanities. The work records the life and culture of sites via capture of digital lidar scans, 3D models, VR and augmented experiences. These highly accurate representations enable fieldwork across multiple disciplines and demonstrate how blending ideas from the humanities, social science and STEM shape the implications of computing.
