I love it, great aesthetics and warm sound. Feels like a cross between a Hofner and EB bass with a little P-Bass thrown in as a treat. Colours are great. Would love a budget version of these.
@@leonbode1748 to keep it simple, while working at CME, I had a nice chat with Gibson USA's head luthier when they visited. I told him exactly what I wanted to see, and several months later it was there at NAMM (almost every detail we discussed) 🙂 in fairness, everything I suggested we based on things Gibson had already done, I just suggested putting it all together and they did a fantastic job.
Ich glaube, ihr habt hier nen echten Überflieger kreiert! Sieht mega cool aus, klingt unheimlich gut, und fühlt sich bestimmt auch genial an! Glückwunsch und alles Gute!
I bought one, it is amazing. Looks great, sounds great. Build quality is far beyond any USA bass that I have ever laid my hands on. It reminds me of my Japanese wolfgang with regards to build quality.
Goddamit. Now I need one. Sonically and aesthetically looks great. It gives me a vibe of “found in the back of an old relatives wardrobe, last seen 40 years ago”.
You know what I like about this bass besides the cool looks and nice sound? I like that it is designed properly for a short scale (in my opinion). The bridge is near the back of the body and the upper horn strap button is near the 12th fret. What that means is that it will hang nicely on the a strap and the reach is compact and closer to the player's body like a short scale should be. The only other short scale bass that is "designed properly" (in my opinion) is the short scale Stingray--that one is a joy to play because all fret access is close and there is no reaching way out there (as with a long scale bass) to play in the first position. This bass will be the same, I'm pretty sure. Great playability. Some short scales are designed in a way that all the advantages of having the shorter scale are designed right out of the bass--so it's not much different playing than a long scale (still reaching way out for the first position). I might just have to buy one of these basses. I love a good design and sexy looking bass. And this is one of those!
Huge miss with the full slab body though. They went through all this effort to do the upper fret cutaway but it will still be murder on your picking forearm to play this bass.
IN TODAY'S MARKET, MOST SHORT SCALE INSTRUMENTS DON'T GET THE CREDIT AND RECOGNITION THEY REALLY DESERVE...THEY ARE RANDOMLY USED, SHOWN AND DISCUSSED...I THINK THIS VIDEO IS A TRUE EXCEPTION...GR8 GR8 VIDEO FOR THE BASS PLAYERS WHO SEARCH AND EXPLORE...WHAT I LOVED ABOUT THIS BASS IS THE PUSH PULL KNOB...IN THIS WAY, YOU CAN BOTH GET SINGLE COIL AND HUMBUCKER PICKUP SOUNDS...REALLY WONDERFUL...KUDOS TO SANDBERG...
Bought a used Sandberg from CME right before COVID started; it's one of the few stores in the US that's kept a good selection of Sandbergs in stock. Really not a fan of the short scale bass, but a nice design..
My problem is … I don’t know which one to get! I have a Lionel that I absolutely love. I’m looking for some tonal range so I’m thinking the mahogany, but I do also love the aged look. How does the tone compare between the aged and the mahogany Florences?
I was able to go into the configurator and make the Florence with their stock options, everything points to 1,996 euros. Roughly the price of the new Fender American Original series in the US. Hope this helps!
I'm craving this bass, but it is so hard to get one available for buying... I'm almost giving up trying to get a chance to put my hands in one of those :(
Ordered one in red color and desperately waiting now... Where should I send the chocolate or other treats for the Sandberg team to speed up the production ? ;-) Please...
@@schepler2 Oooh, this would be a killer mod! But on the other hand, I'd rather not mod this beauty. But I'd love to see somebody make a moveable pickup bass again, but maybe by more than an inch. This is such an awesome concept!
Pretty sure you have round wound strings on both of those, it would be interesting to hear one with flats. A short scale bass with flats has really great BASS sound, not too bright, like 60s motown and early reggae, and they have the most even frequency response across the fretboard.
My problem with this will be the price. This is just about the least amount of hardware you can put into a bass guitar but the price won't reflect that
Once again making a short scale bass with a toothpick profile neck and 1 1/2 nut... I call this a MISS. Ya'll got close, VERY close... but the profile needs to be medium and at least a 1 5/8 nut. Better luck neck time though
play it before you call it a “miss.” the nut (zero fret) width is 39.5mm, which is about smack dab in the middle of 1.5” and 1 5/8” i just have really large hands, and my larger frame may give the illusion of the neck being smaller than it actually is 🎉
@@anotherrandombassguitarcha9482 fine. You’re just being a negative Nancy though. Trying to curb the excitement of happy people you are. Onward with you!
I not a fan of this bass body design. But the bass as a whole is great. I bought a 2013 Sandberg Macassar 4 string. I love the pick up sounds. But hate that it cuts into my right forearm. The same thing I hate about my 1978 Rickenbacker. But love the neck. It has to be comfortable or I won’t play it.

Great tone, love it!!!
Sounds great. Great job 👏
That sounds lovely!
A split coil and a mudbucker pickup all in one.... I'll take it! Extra points for the cool looking pickguard. Well done guys!! 👏👏

Really nice sounding bass, and great playing from you both. I'm curious why the mahogany one you demo is tuned a semi-tone down.
Will there be a left-hand option?
