One of my regrets was never having an assignment to this wonderful location. I just visited friends in 2015 and stayed at Lodging (Bldg 79). I've never seen so many antelope lounging around casually and taking their time crossing the roads on base. Lol. I will definitely return for another visit and experience Frontier Days and spend time touring Cheyenne and the surrounding areas. Thank you for sharing this Lucas!!

You didn't mention the antelopes that walk around freely on the base. The wind is crazy! I witnessed someone getting blown under their car while stationed there in 2005-2007. Also, for African Americans or blacks, there were some places we were briefed to stay away from and always to go in groups. I hope it has changed since I was there. Great video

I was stationed there from 2007 to 2011. My wife worked at Finance so I met her during inprocessing; we hit it off almost right away. So, IMO, Warren was a great assignment for both of us. I'm in FSS and worked at both Chadwell and the missile site. You develop a close bond with the FM and the security guys out there (Between Lima and then November) as they were the same group most of the time. As you say, and I also tell folks, get out and explore. Jackson Hole, Curt Gowdy, oh yeah, Frontier Days. As well as skiing at Breckenridge, Copper Mountain, Steamboat Springs and of course visiting her family in Arvada, Co. We got married in 2010 and haven't looked back; currently at MacDill but have orders to Yokota; leaving in June. Japan for the second time and can't wait.( left Warren for Kadena 2011-2014. All in all, remember fondly of our time in SE Wyoming, yeah, we do miss it a bit but life goes on. I tell people, it's what you make of it and if you want to be miserable, you're gonna be miserable. But if you go with an open mind, you can make it memorable. Thanx for the video and reminding us of our firsts in our career and life.

I’m about to get stationed here, sadly: but with that being said there’s some cool stuff I hear on this base.

I was stationed at FE Warren from 77-81. Your top 10 hit the mark for everything I liked best about the area. I would add #11 as a great place to learn about american western history, especially as it relates to trains and early travel. Many historical sites and displays in the area. A few of us had on/offroad motorcycles and we would take day trips exploring the back roads, state parks, and small towns. The winters could be brutal but great memories all the same. Thanks for posting!

Stationed there 73 to 75. Not a good assignment for barracks life. you need a car and you need to get off the base or you will go stir crazy. I had a great time. Lots of peeps stayed in dorms and played cards, so sad. I liked the surrounding national parks and fished Curt Goudy lake all the time. Frontier Days was a blast and even more fun if you volunteer to help on the grounds and get free admission. Denver and parks in colorado are nearby as well as airport and step off point to visiting las vegas. We used to visit Lowry afb airmans club as it was a hoppin place and plenty of people to meet.
I still go there occasionally and was just there 2 years ago with my wife. We got married when i was stationed there just as i got orders overseas. It was originally Fort D A Russell, yes the famous outpost. As a historical base it has remained in originality but has upgraded facilities over the years. The weather can be tough in the winter and your car must be ready for it and you need to know how to drive in snow, ice, drifts, water, etc. Don't underestimate the weather, carry first aid and extra food in your car when exploring and a phone. Depending on your job you may not like being out at missile silos for most of the week; usually food service, security, launch support etc. I worked HR so I had a regular day job on base right across from the chow hall and post office.

If he is security forces he will prob never see frontier days. He will most likely be in the field in the middle of no where or he will be trying to sleep because you spend most of your free time in firearm qualifications, class training, pt time, debriefings and just trying to wash your clothes so you can go back out to the field again....oh yea, don't forget the occasional call at 3am telling you to get your ass to the base now now now, "exercise exercise exercise get your gear and go to the armory yesterday!"

Lucas Rider Well, the base is comprised of about 65%security forces and the rest of the base is support for those squadrons, with nothing else to do but drink the base has an issue w heavy handing it's underage airmen drinking...a lot. The base is run by poor leadership, my CO had a fishbowl on his desk full of stripes from staff sgts and below. He took stripes off of over 13 personnel in a week. I was also there for a number of suicides and a vehicle crash where an airmen in the field was promoted to team lead and plowed into a civilian killing two kids and their mother. The tension and stress at the post is ridiculous along w the training, you want me to starch my bdus and Polish my boots for gaurd mount and then expect us to go to the field to be "tactical" when the starch will light me up like a X'mas tree under nvg goggles at night. The area is great....unless your not an avid outdoorsmen, then it really sucks and you have nothing to do. Discipline methods if you hadn't guessed were over the top and followed a crazy rational that is supported by 20th airforce HQ's if you couldn't already tell, that airman that was in the wreak got slapped w a minor piece of paperwork, not an article 15 but I saw someone get booted for a sunburn.....that's right a sunburn. I have also scraped lead paint with no respirator off of the basements of those fancy ass officers housing. The inside of squadrons are comprised of diff groups of people and if you don't fit into one your kind of ostracized in general and no one wants to partner up w you in the field and might even stab you in the back before you know what's going on. I've grown up in a military family and I've seen quite a few postings, stateside and overseas, and I'm telling you now this is the worst posting I have ever seen in the Air Force. The hipocracy runs wild and free on that post and your never recognized for your accomplishment unless you kiss the right ass.

OK you don't like Warren, we get it. I retired from the Army and while things in the military are not all peaches and cream, your kind of bickering sounds familiar... not sure if I can take you serious as I've had others tell the complete opposite story. Thank you for your service though... My son knows full well he's going out there to do one thing: Guard stuff. Boring, yes, necessary, absolutely.
