    Great review, thx! What's the weight in your unit? I'm considering a 435 or 735... but I'm a bit afraid of the weight.

      @@ayberkfahri Saturation and smart EQ. A little bit of dirt from your amp tone goes a long way for low end being heard. Add in some compression and then EQ at 100hz and boost at 1khz too. You can high pass up to 80hz to taste too. It might feel like something’s missing down low to you, but it’s gonna make the kick drum come alive and everything fit together. T

    Do you have history with the BB series? What’s your favourite generation of BB?
    (JUST TO CLARIFY: I am wrong about the bridge not being the same. You can switch it over for the sharper angle on all strings!)

    Very well done! I had to look again after you boosted the bass to see if the camera was getting the vibration from the low end and indeed it was! Very very nice. I will have to get either this one or the 734 as my first bass. I’ve played guitar half my life but now I want to play bass

    Looking to upgrade to a five-string, and I'm mesmerized by all of Yamaha's options. I'm particularly stuck on the BB735 thanks to such a thorough review you've done!! (I play tons of country, along with soul/r&b/funk, too...) rock on. :-)

    Great review but strange you should say the saddle is not the same as the P35 ! I have the 734 and I can change the saddle angle, according to the Yamaha website it says this :
    The 700 and Pro are equipped with the Vintage Plus Bridge, which incorporates “Diagonal Body Thru Stringing,” where strings are angled at the saddle and pass through the instrument to the bridge at a 45º angle, as opposed to the traditional vertical stringing method which places more stress on the strings.
    Diagonal Body Thru Stringing significantly reduces this stress while transferring string vibration to the body reliably and efficiently.
    Strings can also be set to the tail end of the bridge, which comes equipped with a convertible saddle that can be adjusted to 2 different angles for more precise tonal shaping and feel. The rounder side of the saddle gives a slightly softer sound, while the more angled area produces a slightly tighter one.
    The brass saddle of the Vintage Plus Bridge delivers a slightly deeper low-end, and the steel bridge plate offers a brighter tone. All screws and springs are made of stainless steel to guard against corrosion.

      Alec M hmmm... Maybe I haven’t looked hard enough 🤔 It was very obvious to me on the B on the P35, but not so when I checked the 7. I’ll take a look when I get back to the bass! Thank you for the info and kind words! T

      @TylerSpicer  5 років тому +2

      Hey Anthony! I have a P and a J as well as my PJ5. The PJ sound is my favourite for sitting in most mixes. It’s got more low mids than a J and more clarity in the mix than a P, as well as a little extra depth compared to the P on its own. I’m intending on doing a comparison video a PJ and JJ this week, so keep your eyes peeled on the channel! T

    Hey, I've heard the J pickup buzzes a little. Does the active circuit kill any buzz? On my TRBX504 the active circuit wipes out my dirty power bass nicely.

    • @TylerSpicer
      @TylerSpicer  3 роки тому

      Got to say I didn’t notice any buzz! Then again I rarely used it solo’d. I’d always suggest re-shielding the cavity if there’s any buzz. Again, never enough of an issue so I’d personally not worry - the old BBs (x24/5) series definitely had a noticeable buzz in comparison! T

      @TylerSpicer  5 років тому +1

      Thank you for watching! To be honest I haven’t played anything in this price range for a long time except the Fender 50s Ps. I would say it is very similar in quality to my Fender 50s P, but it feels a little more pro than that bass did. It’s a real pro workhorse bass that based on sound alone is absolutely perfect for me. I know there was talk on Basschat of someone trying a Sire P7 and not being happy with it compared to the Yamaha. I would always go Yamaha tbh, but I’m a little biased towards the brand 😉 T

      The BB is Fender type sounds, but in the Yamaha kinda way, they’re a bit smoother sounding in the midrange and brighter up top. The TRBX is soapbar pickups which are going to be different to that Fender sound. Again even more relaxed in the mid range and bigger in the bass. T

    • @TylerSpicer

      Absolutely! Feels maybe more solid in terms of hardware than the Vintera. The diagonal neck join on the Yamaha is great and the fret ends etc. are pretty spot on!
